Super Kid Cannon

Hi everyone! Long time no see.

I haven't done spriting in awhile. Not cause I don't love it, but because I've been busy with my job as a level designer at a mobile game company for a game called Super Kid Cannon. Big Grin It's a really cool job and I'm learning lots about game development. I can't believe I've learned Unity. Feel free to ask me stuff about the process or the game itself.

The game's gonna be out on Android first in New Zealand next month, soon after for iOS/Android in the US/UK, but meanwhile here's a trailer I wrote the script for:

Hey you guys! I've been working on actual videogame engineering and I am about to release my OWN portable game console worldwide!

as you can see, it is clearly not based in any existing portable console, and the design is really original. The spec is as follows:

-screen is 160x144;
-can produce 4 colors: black, gray, light gray and white;
-graphic is stored as 8x8 tiles in games;
-every 8x8 tile can only have 3 colors + transparency!

Really impressive, huh? I am planning to compete against this gen's video game consoles, and with this spec I intend to bring everyone high-quality graphics and affordable price.

BUT GAME CONSOLES ARENT ANYTHING WITHOUT FAMOUS GAMES!

so I want you to produce some for the game boy gors! Produce a mockup of how modern-day games would look in it!

1-make a demake mockup of an existing game.

Maybe it sounds a bit funny but I would like to make an RPG computer game.
I read comics and I created some story not finished yet
I would like to make a computer game similar to Baldur's Gate I know it will be not as good game as Baldur's Gate however I would like to make game the best I can
I do some coding in C++, and use SFML as graphics library
I wonder if there are any people who can do graphics, music, and who would like to help me to make this game
I need someone to make sprite sheets for heroes and for map, I need someone to make music and sound, and someone to make a narrator voice and some movies

I recall there was a thread similar to this in the past, but it revolved around whether or not you were interested in learning a second language moreso than it did which languages you are learning, and hasn't been posted in in a while.

In this topic, let's discuss the languages we're interested in, or already know! Posting resources on learning specific languages such as websites, useful books, and other general knowledge, is highly encouraged if you have them available!


To start, I'm interested in Japanese and have been self-studying it for close to two years now. For the most part I've been going by the things that are tested in the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) and by this point I should easily be able to pass the N5. With a bit more practice I could probably take on the N4. (As a note, the test goes from N5 to N1, with N5 being the easiest and N1 being the most difficult.) Overall it's certainly a difficult language, but I've been having a lot of fun with it and keep striving to learn more.

On top of that, I've had some interest in both Korean and Chinese... probably Mandarin as if I recall correctly it has more speakers. I'm considering going back over the Japanese that I've learned and trying to learn the words in the other two languages I've just mentioned, to see if I start becoming familiar enough with them to really boost myself into learning them properly.

Hey, I would like some people to take a look at these and tell me if there is anything wrong with them. (these are Sprites incase you are wondering)

Ok, this is most likely going to end up more like a request, but I am willing to try it myself if it's something simple.
So, I went crazy last night when I realized all the games on my pc seemed boring, so I went on to the purchased list on my iphone. I found this game that I remember had very cute graphics, but was written in Japanese, therefore unplayable. However, it occurred to me that I should try to get the resources out and do something fun with them, since the game seems to have been discontinued as you cant even log on anymore.
So, at first I was super excited because it seemed that everything was saved in .png format, but upon closer inspection, I realized that these images were completely black. So now im asking if anyone either knows what to do for this, or would be willing to do it for me. Once again, if it's something simple, I don't mind saving you time and doing it myself, since I need experience in this sort of thing anyways.

My name is Mega Bidoof, and I am the head of a small video game development team named, "Affinity Dream," and we are currently working on a Super Smash Bros. fan game (like Super Smash Bros. Crusade, or Super Smash Flash/Flash2), named Super Smash Bros. Affinity. Progress on the game is coming along good, and we even have a thread for the game on Smashboards.com.

As some people may have noticed, I've been popping in and out of town a couple of times recently due to real-life stuff. Tomorrow I'll be going away for a week (on a kind of mini-holiday thing), and I figured that's long enough to mention. We made Below Kryll, which is a 2d retro platformer with one huge world to explore online

We think its an awesome world to play in since every day something new and unique is added (by the players themselves).

In Below Kryll, when you reach an edge of the world (there are many edges) you get the option to extend the world permanently with your very own addition, for all the players to play in.

The game is enjoyable both by oldschool retro platformers, and by people who like to create and publish gaming content.

Any player, if he/she wants, can be a level/game designer. We even give additional tools to sequence a bit of in-game music and create awesome pixelart!

We already have hundreds of areas our players created which contain quests, puzzles, action/parkour areas, pixelart and music

Hello fine folks. I'm here to offer unto people various bounties for models being made. Now I understand the trouble this can be, as I used to do them myself, but currently, I am unable to as many, many things have been competing for my attention and eating up a lot of time in my life that I am unable to do things as I wish. As such, I'm going to use my extra income on the fair users here that are willing to do some work for me. What do I wish for? Custom models for a big, rather widespread project of mine, and though it is nonprofit, I will make sure those who take part are properly paid.

There are some rules:
1. The Models must be T-Posed.
2. Polycount must not be unreasonably high.
3. They must be as accurate as possible without violating typical standards.
4. Pay is typically gauged by accuracy and quality, though the minimum payment for any given model is $20. More often than not the pay will reach over $50 or more.
5. Models are to be submitted via PM, and not given freely to others unless otherwise noted.
6. Models do NOT have to be rigged. BUT they must be posed for later rigging which will be done according to their use in the project.

So without further ado. I'd like to see if anyone is interested and willing to do a bit of work for a bit of money.

Secondly: I haven't been spriting very much but I have been making pixel art for quite some time now.

Specifcs about the game.
JANUARY 20- UPDATED GAME INFO
Title: 7

Genre: RPG, Strategy, Turn-based, old school 16 bit

Multiplayer: 2+ player coop and VS Challenger ladder system

Amount of playable Characters: 7

Number of class: 29; Novice, 1st tier: 7, 2nd tier 21( plus dual classing 2nd tier)

Does my Characters Sprite have to be any certain class or build: No, 7 is built around personal freedom when it comes to classes, skills, stats, equipment. If you want 7 Pillager Priest then go for it.

Classes: look at the picture uploaded for it.

Is the game linear: No, free roam and the choice in doing any quest.

What will my Character look like: That depends solely on your equipment, your class selection does not determine what you look like.

Will there be a way to modify my equipment look: Yes, there will be multiple colors schemes for each armor piece as well as having the ability to upload your own sprites later on.

How many hours in gameplay is there: 86+ hours of just combat, that is not counting questing, crafting, travel, misc time.

Crafting: Yes, you will be able to craft equipment from smelting down other equipment, broken and not broken, as well as potions, foods, bombs, and etc through certain classes and npcs.

What if I do not like an item's perks: There are npcs and classes that can modify items to make them "reroll" their perks.

So why worry about the time it takes to liberate a region in 7: The way the region system works is that the occupied forces will take back liberated regions if you take too long.

What's the overall cost look out going to be: $20 at the end, you can pick it up cheaper if you help the kickstarter.

Any mircotransactions or dlcs that cost money: No



The Game "7" takes place in the world of Simaril, where magic is used daily with the very beginnings of steam machines coming into play. The realm is made up of 7 kingdoms, each with 7 regions that need to be liberated from the religious usurpers of the throne.
The player is giving 7 characters to take a realm back from the leaders of a religious coup. Each character is a blank slate that the user gets to micro manage the character's 6 different stats, the 21(possible up to 42) different classes with dual classing available, skills and equipment. There is only 1 restriction on equipment, which is weight.
As the player is battling their way through the kingdoms, they must pay attention to the amount of time it takes. If the user takes too long to take the regions, the regions will start to reoccupy the liberated regions. To clear a kingdom, one must take the castle but beware not to push straight towards it as the castle will be guarded by additional forces equal to the occupied regions in the kingdom.
The player will also face forces of the 7 elements; Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, Aether, Light, and Dark. And battle 200 completely different enemies and 20 Bosses, with an estimated time of 86 hours of combat.
Between classes and NPCs the user will be able to craft armor, weapons, and healing items as well as changing up to 3 perks and/or elements per item. With over 21 weapons and 9 different armors over 3 different styles( with possible more styles).
This game will be 16 bit and is a turn based game, the sprite you see is an example of what we are looking to have for the game(with a head included of course). There is a planned co-op mode for up to 7 people, vs-mode, map editor, and a end user sprite importer. The sprite importer system gives the end user the ability to change the sprite look of character armor and weapons, with the possibility for enemy forces as well. We will also be offering up a sprite service for folks that are not very good at making sprites.
When all said and done this title will be up on steam for PC, Mac and Linux as well as be available for Xbox, PS3/4, Wii-u, iPhone, and Android. So you can pull your game and play anywhere with anyone.

Kirby (SMA3:YI)

A Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island style Kirby. This is the first time I've ever made any sprite sheet (but not the first time I've worked with sprites), so if there's any imperfections I wouldn't be surprised. Basically I worked from the Marching Milde sprite sheet and ended up with this. Some stuff remains unchanged (e.g. Watermelon, Egg, Goomba), some just have a colour swap (e.g. Chair, Fishing Rod, Pako, Stars, Butterflies), some are just minimized to make sense (e.g. Cheep Cheep, Flutters and Goonies), some are practically made up (e.g. Explorer Hat, Explorer Pack, Pirate Hat), some are a combination and some could be something else.

Some stuff are a little bit changed from the game, but that's only pretty much with the hat (in the game the hat doesn't cover Kirby's eyes) and direction facing. The Wrong Trousers doesn't actually appear usable in either games - I just thought it'd be something to add, and of course based off The Wrong Trousers of the movie with the same name. Plus, it could be the substitute for the Kangaroo (in Yoshi's Island DS). Also the Level Intros section includes level intros from Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland, Kirby Super Star/Kirby Super Star Ultra and some movies from the latter two.

Credit (other than myself) goes to A.J. Nitro (for the SMA3:YI bits and Pako and other maybe other stuff), Mageker (for the other bits - I think it was just the chair and maybe something else), Nintendo for publishing, HAL Laboratory for making Kirby in the first place, Nintendo EAD for developing SMA3:YI and Artoon for YIDS. I think I didn't miss anyone out. So, let the criticism begin and... err... whatnot.

Need sounds from Paper Mario 2!

... Yeah.

Y'see I need sounds from that game for one of my projects. (Specifically, the Action Command sounds. Y'know, the ones that play when you see "Good! Great! Awesome! Outstanding! Amazing!" on the screen. I'd rather have Sticker Star ones, but chances are ripping from that game will be more than a little impossible right now.) Thing is, they aren't on the site. I've searched the sound ripping boards and this help board for that sorta thing and MFGG ain't got none neither. So I've come to the conclusion that I should either ask someone to do it for me, or get off my lazy ass and do it myself (... which I don't know how to do).

So I'd like one of two things...

1) Please post a quick little guide to get me on my way ripping sound effects from Paper Mario 2. Remember, I am dumb, so detailed explanations will help!

Or!

2) Do it for me because I am little baby. You don't even have to label the sounds, I won't submit them behind your back or anything, I just want the sound effects.

Im not here to get any advice really. I just want somewhere I can showcase my stuff. I very much have my own style of spriting that does not really follow any guidelines but the ones I have made up. I'm trying to make a story out of all the sprites I have been making or game. I dont know what it is yet but its slowly coming together. The world in which all these sprites come from is called Forge. I will post here whenever I make something. I usually make something at least once or twice a week. All of my art has grown over time and I am sure you will be able to tell a degree of change the in detail on my art.
