Sprite attempts for indie game of sorts.

I'm kinda okay (Or so to say?) at 8-bit style sprites? I mean, I'm not an absolute artist at it, but I do try.

Either way, I've been working on an 8-bit game or sorts, that somewhat obeys 8-bit limits. (I'm bad with colour limits. I know sprites in NES games can be "stacked" to get more than 3 colours, like how old-school Mega-Man games did, but I don't know for tiles.)

Either way, here are some of my "sprite work".

So I probably changed the .apk file to a .zip file and got all the files before me. Now I'm sort of stuck as to where to go from there. I'm guessing that I need to get into these .ccbi files but I have no means of opening them. I found out .ccbi files are from a Mac exclusive sprite making program so I'm worried I can't do this seeing as I have Windows. Can anyone help me out with this? How do I open/unpack .ccbi files?

Last time i was here i was working on a ripping proyect for Zelda: The Minish Cap

i had a nice progress but dumped it all as the sheet was a mess hard to use and simply didn't like it
so after a while i got a liking to doing small "remakes" of some old areas in the free time i had every now and then.
(The proyect was moved to photoshop from Paint.net as it made easy to use the tilesets instead of just taking bits and pieces from the original maps)

And here's all the progress so far:

only have idle and walking yet, but i will color all(not only color but i'm making some shading too.)

Hey guys I've wanted to create a custom model of my favourite hockey player. Unfortunately I can't rip from the game. Ninjaripper just doesn't work for me. Is there anyone who would be able to rip a hockey player with stick for me? I just need one guy, I have the custom textures for the player I want.

It would be much appreciated because I've been trying to get this for a few years now.

By realistic i mean, 3 screens surrounding you, metal dash with dozens of buttons & switches scattered everywhere,  a lever for the speed, pedals, a rotating chair with suspension, a touch-screen for the map, a hula girl on the dash, a coffee machine. EVERYTHING! God that would be awesome to play a mech warrior game on that. If it exist, it must in japan anyway....

We can all appreciate good sound design, but sometimes a series just does a really good job with voice actors. So, what's a game you think is worth mentioning on the merit of its voice work?
Also, in the same light, what is a game you can think of that offers an example of bad voice work?


For good voice work, I could mention most Blizzard games if I'll be honest. From Starcraft, to Warcraft, and all affiliated games between them, there's a lot of great Easter Eggs and jokes.

For example, in Hearthstone, you get the cobalt guardian. When he dies you get his message "Error 37".




If you've played Diablo 3, that was a significant error for you at launch.

There's even a youtube dedicated exclusively to Starcraft 2 unit quotes.







Now, to give an example of bad VA work, I'll use Dragon Ball Xenoverse. I don't have any particular example in mind, but the voices don't sync with talking animations, you get a lot of subtitles that don't meet what the characters say, the audio balance is questionable at best, stuff like that.

Whenever I import the BRFES, with the textures in the same folder, the textures are not imported with the model. Is this intentional or am I doing something wrong?

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair data file info

I have been checking around the datafiles in Castlevania HD, and I was able to figure out the way they work, using TiledGGD.
Yes, I know most of the sprites are 1 to 1 copies from DS games or other source material, but the files are pretty nicely organized, and once I figured out the palette files, they should have correct colors aswell, which is hell to figure out on DS files.

The game sprite data, which aren't surfaces, consist of three files.

.col files are the palettes. These files are too dark, and every value needs to be multipled by 8 in order for them to work.
.csr files are the main sprite files
.opd files are most probably files that align and set what needs to be read. Doesn't seem to contain sprites/palettes.

Anyhow, to get stuff working. Load any csr file on tiledGGD, and set stuff like this:

Panel size needs to be 128 x Anything
Format needs to be 4 bits/pixel
Endianness needs to be little endian

Then load up the palette from a .col file in same folder, it needs to be:

4 bytes/colour
Big endian
RGB
The palettes start at offset 0x20 , containing 16 colors each.

In the end, you will get out an image looking something like this:

The palettes, for some RANDOM reason are too dark. I made a little program, which starts reading the palettes at offset 0x20, and multiplies every color by 8. The result looks like this:

I would say this is close to the DS palette. The colors are off ~8 values, since the values needed to be multiplied by 8. Especially noticable on Jonathan, his sprite's outline looked dark gray on DS, black on HD.

And yes, rest of the palettes work as well. Here are few examples of the other, in-game palettes for Julius.

I might do some rips from the game soon, as using these techniques, ripping is pretty easy. Everything that is made in the CSR files should be readable, as the .col files containing the palettes are in the same folder, only too dark.

As xb360 doesn't have an emulator, I can't confirm these too well, but the player palettes seemed to be correct looking on real console. I wonder if this is close enough to make a spritesheet for the site?

I also hope this info would help people rip sprites and make some new, cool castlevania fangames.

Well, I need reasons to draw and I'm currently tapped on inspirations outside of Castle on the Mountain and 2 Souls' Tale. Request what you want, but it's first come first served! Remember, I won't draw anything nude or sexual and I refuse to draw anything too offensive.

Just like Mighty Jetters: there are 4 slots open.
So far, I can draw in pencil and color in prismacolors. I hope to learn different methods of coloring later on.
I'm kind of a fast artist, but check-and-balanced by bouts of laziness. I hope this will help me get the lead out.

Hey, i am having some problem at loging in, in ma mobile phone.

When i go to the log in page, after i click login, then i'm geting redirected to a blue page, with the login, then i imput, ma pass and nickname and click login, then the loading bar appears, but instead of loging me, it sends me to the same blue page again...

Short story: Can't log in, in ma cell phone...
