Extracting some .dat and .bin files, help

0
0
Hi,

I want to extract some files and I don't know how to.

The first archive in this download as an example is .bin files from the game Calling, call me weird but I'm interested in extracting the "death letters" and such in nwc24_letter.bin. I know it's compressed somehow, but nothing's impossible and I believe it can be decompressed.

The second archive is for TV Friend Channel, I want to extract the .dat files but I don't know how to.

Please help me, I'll take a QuickBMS script or anything I can use to extract it.

Thank You.

Would anyone be willing to rip a 3DS model?

Is there any chance someone can rip Fox's Arwing from Star Fox 64 3D? I'm trying to build the model myself on a sandbox game but it's difficult without a 3D template for reference. I don't work off of pictures too well.

Hi there. The name's NinjaManZ. You can call me Ninja, or NMZ. I'm a "beginner" spriter and programmer. I do sprites every now and then, and got a game project I'm currently working on, which I'll post after I have enough progress to show. Not sure what else to say, so yeah.

Hey guys. I might as well post some of the sprites I've done. I call myself a Beginner, because I still have much to learn, but compared to before, I can safely say, I've improved a bit.

An example of that, would be a character for a project that is on hold for now. This is Itami. I'm gonna be honest. I STILL don't get what i was thinking in 2014 :I

Here's another character from the same project and style as the latest one(which I have to update again, eventually):

Here's a before and after of two characters for my current game project( Fun fact: this change was in the span of a few weeks). First one is a main character, the second is an NPC:

And lastly, we have all three characters in the current style so far(including my avatar):

Once I have a bit more progress on the project I'll make a thread for it to show you all, but for now, enjoy these sprites.

Ripping MDL0/PAC Brawl models

I know that Brawl already has almost all of its models ripped.
However, there are various custom stuff found in Brawl mods, mostly characters, which I want to rip.
I can view them on BrawlBox, but I also want to be able to use them on things like Blender or Unity.
How can I convert those character models, but also keep all the other displaying files associated with them (textures, texture mapping, rigging, bones, animations, etc.)? Thanks in advance!

P.S.: Yes, I tried BRRES Viewer, but the model is slightly glitched when viewed through BRESS Viewer, and I have no idea how to export models like that, so they can be used for things like Blender or Unity, but still keep everything else associated with them.

Hey guys, my name is James Lee McKigney and I am going to introduce you guys to Power Bomberman. I am going to contribute many characters to the game and do you know how to rip character tiles from mame? I am going to add in the Irem Bomberman Arcade Appearances to the games.

Bombermania is driving me crazy and I love it! I think I can get the gist of making new sprites for the games to match Saturn Bomberman Sprites and I'll even make new pallets for said Irem Bombermen.

If you think it is a good idea then let's go for it. I promise to abide by the rules and to be fair and to treat everybody as if they were me. i vow to do all the hard work on many projects because these games are awesome!

Hey! This is great! Ripping is like a Jigsaw!

Hello everyone, I am excited to do some projects. Now let's be frank, I love me some Bomberman. And I am trying to contribute to a Bomberman Fan Game I love (Power Bomberman) by making sprites and forms for the various characters. I am starting off with the Heroes Sprite Sheet from New Atomic Punk: Global Quest and if I can, I'll make original poses and actions based off of the various Hudson Bomber Man games using the Irem Bomber Man sprites as a reference for the custom actions.

Here's some advice when ripping sprites: It's like a Jigsaw (In the mindset I currently Have about ripping.) All you need to do when creating sprites is learn from the various tutorials and make the time spent in creating the sprites worthwhile.

It's not really a plea for help but more of a "Hey! I Feel Great! I'm having fun with sprites!" post.

Manipulating Models for 3D Printing on MakerBot

Hello, everybody! I'm new to both this forum and the world of ripped models, so there's a lot that I've yet to learn how to manage.

You see, I'm currently working with a program for my 3D printer called MakerBot, which uses .OBJ models to print with. While some models, like Smash Bros. trophies, are already posed, most of the models I can find on this site are stuck in their default, "T" shaped positions.
Now, I have Blender, but since I lack experience and a middle mouse button to move with. I tend to use only the OBJ files for MakerBot, but I wonder if there are any other file types I can use to find a rig of the model, or some other way to move the model's body parts.

TL;DR: How can I pose a model from the Model's Resource with the files they come with, and without having to learn the entirety of Blender and make an armature from scratch?

Any rules of getting sprites organised?

Hello, I have just rip sprites of miko enemy from Shinrei Jusatsushi Taromaru(Saturn). I believe it is complete, and willing to make them altogether and upload.
The problem, as topic suggests, is organizing. Is there any rule of the space between each sprite? And any tricks to get sprites organised?
And how to check if the moveset is complete? How to discover hidden ones?

Having browsing SDB for 2 years, and never dreamed that I would became and uploader. Amazing!

3DS Ripping, Help. D:

Hi peoples, I'm sort of a newbie here. Sort of, as in, I've done Gamecube/Wii ripping in the past without too much trouble. (It's been a little while though.) I browse the site every now and then and such. Anyways, I'm wanting to learn how to rip models and such from 3DS games. Now, I'm not just asking blindly, I tried researching info for hours, but I eventually caved and thought I'd ask for help.

First off, I do have the Roms already. I've tried getting them in both .3ds and .cia formats. I'm assuming the latter is the unencrypted version. Second of all, I'm not able to use my actual 3DS, as it's version 9.7; nor do I have any flashcards other than a basic SD card, so that seems to be out of the question now. What I've gathered is that I need to extract the .romfs files, but that's kind of where I'm stuck. I don't know how all the coding and stuff works around the place that I've seen, it's all very confusing, but I'm willing to learn what I can.

I have Every File Explorer already downloaded, but I don't think I can use that quite yet. I've tried using the getromfs/xor application thingy, but I dropped that, after seeing I needed the system. My most recent try involved using the 3DS Hack Tools, I got the most results out of this, but I came to a standstill and wasn't sure what to do next. The ctrtool/extract thingy just gave me two parts, gamename.0000.00000000 and gamename.0000.00000001. In the video/guide I saw, this wasn't supposed to happen, and I couldn't find a solution. I followed all the instructions exactly.

So where should I go from here?  Embarassed

What Draws You Toward A Game?

Good graphics.  I don't mean realism, HD, and all that.  But rather, a good style, and excellent use of color.  If the colors are bland and lifeless, the game's world is, by extension, bland and lifeless.

Smooth animations.  As a sprite artist, I can appreciate how much effort goes into making smooth animations, and I also know it's doable no matter what size graphics you're working with.  For example, there's no excuse to only have 2 frames of walking animation for 16x16 sprites, when you've got plenty of space to do 6 frames to make it smooth, even for retro styled sprites.  We aren't dealing with memory limitations anymore, so choppy animations turn me off.

Fitting and atmospheric music.  It's one thing to have decent music, but it's another thing to have memorable music and music that greatly enhances every scene and map of the game.  Look no further than the likes of Final Fantasy Tactics or Vagrant Story for examples of OSTs that blow many modern OSTs out of the water.

Perfect, responsive and fluid controls.  There's no excuse for stiff controls in this day and age.  The controls should reflect a player's common sense (like having the ability to duck, and attack in midair), and also not have any sort of response delay behind them.  Actions should be swift and fluid.  No choppy stiffness.

Story and characters to care about.  For the games that are going to have a story in the first place, as this obviously wouldn't apply to arcade style games.  If you're going to have a story, it might as well be a good one, and not one that'll have the player not caring about the people they're supposed to save in the game.  Majora's Mask, Final Fantasy Tactics and Legend of Legaia are good examples that come to mind.

Addictive Gameplay.  Good gameplay in general is what any game needs.  But for a game to have you coming back for more, even after its completion, the gameplay itself would need to involve something that'd want you coming back for more, like Terraria.

Can't remember games name.

I don't know if this is the right place to post this (Sorry just in case), but I've been looking for this specific game and, well, I can't remember it's name. All I remember was you could open a menu and drag and drop a character onto the map. The characters  (One being a green dragon) would walk on the screen and whenever the character went off screen the room would change. Also the game had no story(from what I remember). I remember each room however. One was in a haunted forest and another was in a castle. If you know the games name please reply. It's been driving me crazy to remember. Cry

Quick question about usage rights etc?

hey,

I am a game developer and just ran across this site. First off awesome job with whoever got this place going it is filled to the brim with amazing content. My question was is this content free to use for game development projects, or is this all just to show case your personal art etc? Thanks, I don't want to be breaking any rules or regulations here I am really enjoying all the great content that is featured.

Working on some custom sprites, it's been a while.

I've got some characters I'm working on, basic designs, standing poses, etc. But the shapes I've made them in are making some basic posing tricky. I'm curious as to if anyone can help with some line and shape exercises.

Clarification: I don't want anyone to make the sprites for me, but if you could help me draw some outlines, or general shapes for the poses I'm trying that would be great, I want to do this myself but I could use a little help.

First off I'm trying to make a large, bulky character with his arms crossed, maybe in a grappler pose.

I've got the basic character sprite here. I know I might not be providing a great deal of information, but I figured getting some advice from a lot of different sources might help.

I'm more of a 3D artist, so getting into 2D has been a bit of a challenge for me, any help would be appreciated.

Marth wants to try art one more time

I packed up my drafting table and all my art stuff and put it literally in the attic a while ago. But there is one sketchbook yet sitting in my room unused. part of me wants to draw again and the majority of me doesn't. So for old time's sake I will try to draw again but I'm very rusty so I apologize for the quality in advance. There's the rules though; a) 2 requests at a time, b) please be very patient I'm working a lot of hours now that the semester is over c) you can choose any character or person but you must supply a classical painting or drawing as a reference as to how you want the character/person drawn.

Alright go

Desperation Strikes

All right, I'm not sure what this counts as or if it's even possible. For ages I have been experimenting with ripping Steam Games, and discovered a majority can actually be printscreen-ripped as in DXRipper, 3DRipperDX, NinjaRipper, and others. The only problem is, they have to be made into 'standalone' games. Now, while this is normally frowned upon, I figure since what I'm about to request is a FREE and OPEN game, and the fact I only intend to use it as a ripping resource...I think it can be...eh...overlooked? I don't know, but I have no idea what else to do at this point.
What I need is a standalone, Launcher-Free version of Magicka: Wizard Wars. One that will allow me to still sign in to the Paradox Account in-game so I can access my DLC robes on the main screen. If anyone is capable of doing this in any way, PLEASE send me a PM and let me know if you can help me finally acquire what I need from this game. The only modes I need active are the main screen and the Training Mode. I do not intend to use this for actual gaming (since I'm horrible at it anyway and there would be no point otherwise).

What the hell did I find in Wind Waker???

(I think this is the proper forum for it)

So! I've been recently ripping a whole bunch of stuff from the Gamecube version of Wind Waker. I usually go with objects, but I decided to take a look at the stages part to see if I can find some test stages. While I'm looking, I find a folder called "tincle". Thinking it was maybe a typo and they mean "Tingle", I opened it up and found this:

WHAT THE HELL. Is this from part of the game that my brain has blocked the memory to because it's so horrifying???? If anyone wants the files to check it out themselves, just message me. XD
