Sprite Usage

Hey all,
I was wondering the rules are for using sprites from the site for personal non-monetary purposes. I was looking at these in this thread, and was wondering if I could use them as split images in the speed running tool LiveSplit as I plan to begin running Banjo Kazooie. I of course would provide a link to the forum thread, and give credit where credit is due on my stream info on twitch.tv. I was also thinking I might need to individually contact the illustrators/drawers of each sprite to request permission to use, but I am just not sure if there are general rules to this type of thing.

Hello, my name is Keith and I am in a band called Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate).  We are currently searching for a pixel artist to make custom sprites and a video for one of the songs of off our newest album.  Basically, the lyrics are super literal, and we want an artist/animator to make a video with 8/16-bit era sprites that follows along the song ala JRPGs like Dragon Warrior/Quest, early Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, etc.  We have some a storyboard in mind; once we find somebody we can go from there.  Obviously, it doesn't have to be a playable game- it just has to look like it is.

So apparently there's a game Space Hulk: Deathwing that I'm now very interested in after watching a trailer. The problem is that the first trailer came out way back in 2014 and the "new" one came out all the way back in February. There's also Hellblade which looks pretty cool and the trailer for that came out months ago. Machinima doesn't post up game trailers like they used to, apparently, and I need to find a new channel I can subscribe to so I can watch new trailers as they're released. Anyone know any such channels?

This is my first ever post on this site so i would just like to start off saying hi Smile. This is my first ever attempt at ripping something but i am pretty sure that i did it properly. I have to do some verticies welding still i think but otherwise its fine. Ok, so my first rip attempt was from Spongebob Squarepants Battle for Bikini Bottom and i attempted to get the entire hub area. I got around 90% of it so i'd say i did a decent job. I mainly did this for personal use for a videogame (Doesnt really matter but its call of duty world at war custom zombies) but i have no problem giving out what i managed to rip. But ok, here is my problem. I cannot find a way to assign the .mtl file that is associated with the .obj that i got from 3D Ripper DX. If it helps, the name of the mtl is main_hub.mtl and the name of the obj is main_hub.obj. There is a lot of textures that are associated with it, so if there is a way to get this mtl to work it would be great. Thanks everyone!

SSBBrawl Animations

Hey guys, I've been trying to pull the animations from brawl characters for use in external programs (Blender/Maya/Unity)

However, I run into trouble extracting the .chr0 animations and trying to merge them with the .dae through Collada Tool.
(In short after "successfully merging", and opening in blender/unity, the animations are garbled rubbish)
I'm hoping to find someone who'd be willing to help set me on the right path, or do so for me.

I'd offer my services as an artist if you'd like, other than that, I'm a poor bastard.

and since im in love with demakes id like to have a thread collecting them kinda

Soo as you guys may have noticed i have a youtube channel where i post chiptune covers of songs, and i make mockups to illustrate the videos

so yeah first of all : symphony of the night
I was inspired by this guy who shows great economy in his tile use http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/82689.htm
to then make a mockup with no such tile economy whatsoever hehehe

so the yellow one is the mockup seen in the video, but ive made it better since as you can see, changing the palette and in general making it a bit more tile-efficent


and yeah recently i did the song Fortuna from starfox so here' my rendition of what starfox couldve lookd like on the NES (with different sizes of the same sprites for a 4-layer "fake" 3D)

Hey, sorry for having 3 requests up, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut....

I was wondering if somebody could rip the models of the Powerpuff Girls from the PS2 and GC game, Powerpuff Girls: Relish Rampage. Extracted from the game with T-Pose, bones and rigging intact would be ideal.
I only need the main three (Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup) but Mojo Jojo would be an accepted bonus. Thanks!

Due to the release of Neptunia Re;birth 2 on Steam, I plan to rip all of the battle voices (including the Japanese ones). There are some unique voices that are played when in idle and in menus.

Currently ripped (ENG & JP):
-CPUs (Regular & HDD)
-Candidates (Regular & HDD)
-Makers
-Oracles
-Underling
-Warechu
-CFWs
-Arfoire

If anyone can help out ripping the sound effects from the game, go right ahead (if you want).

Sooo I got another batch of models rejected after about a month.
Why? Complaints about texture paths in FBX files.
Simply put, FBX files suck at path handling.
To clarify, FBX files don't have to be binary. In fact I always export to FBX v6 ASCII because that's the oldest version supported by 3ds Max.
If you were to look into the texture paths in the fbx, you'd soon notice that you can't do anything about the textures not being found because the handling is utter trash.
Yes I did edit the paths, but they won't load because it will always assume absolute paths, regardless of what you specify or whether or not the relative filename element is correct.
In fact, RTBs fbx submissions don't have proper texture paths either, but that's not an issue because he approves his own submissions.

Second of all, please don't ever complain about the texture filenames in SMD files as extensions in the file are ignored by the (official) parser (which is why they never load on import, really)

Third of all, why do both of our TMR mods just to appear to be 2 of the most busy people on the site? I get that people get busier with their life over time, but please be reasonable and recruit for more moderators as the current submission and review rate of submissions has come to a near halt resulting in the current moderators having to plow through relatively huge batches of submissions.

So I'm trying to rip stuff from Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New world and all the model brres files are all in a .bin. Is there a tool for extracting the brres from the .bin?

Hi i long time search for a totorial how import nif fils and animations to Blender. My first problem i do not find a addon or actionscript for Blender how correct works for importing nif files. My next problem i do not find anione totorial for animating nif models. Please help anione?

I have a question, do the models in the modeler's resource come with animations? Lately I've gotten tired of making my games be built around just really blocky worlds, no animations or models at all, so I found this site. However, I'm not sure if the models have any animations at all, will I have to animate them myself? How do I check with Blender? I really don't wanna animate all of these, considering I'm terrible at art and I don't wanna learn Blender.

I've always been really drawn in by those crisp pixel textures, mixed with lowpoly 3D, and so i'd like to start practicing doing more of it.
Starting up a thread to keep track of my progress, here i'll be doing said lowpoly stuff, combined with some more complex things, alongside a dab of scenery practice.

Hello. Lots of you may remember me. Its me, SMASH!!! And I'm back with some skill in game-developing! I found this game developer software Clickteam Fusion 2.5 and it has given me the power to create my very own games so easily! I even have a game that I want you guys to see: Four Nights At Frendzy's! It's an NES Horror-Game based on FNAF. Frendzy is an animatronic duck and he wanders the building (of course.) And you have to keep him from killing you by shutting the doors in your office. careful though - you only have so much power!

So I want to post this on the VG's Resource as a download for you guys to play it and see what you think.I just don't know how though. My question is: is there any way for me to post it on this thread? its a Clickteam Fusion Stand-Alone Application.

hex editing multiple files

The Sims 1 has sound files in XA format. I can convert them with Audacity to wav or mp3. However Audacity refuses to load most of them because they have a broken(?) header. A simple hex edit can fix this but there are over 3000 files and I have only extracted them from the Makin' Magic addon.

Is there a way to fix all the files in one go? I really don't want to edit each file manually. Unimpressed
