"I can fix it!"
- Fix-it Felix, Jr., 2012
____________________________________________________

Hello, dear spriters! Big Grin
I've gotten into a Super Mario Bros. ROM hack lately and I've made those sprites of Fix-It Felix, Jr. They're based on the sprites from Flash game "Fix-It Felix, Jr." on the Disney website.

Whaddya' think? Cute

It took me a whole day for the hack and the sprites.
I didn't know where to put this thread, so I made it here. If I'm in the wrong section, I guess someone will just move it!

I'm thinking to sumbit my sprites to TSR! Smile

This is the thread on the flip side of things. It has the details and poll.

What we're doing is deciding on a server that none of us are on so that we can form up, and create a guild without an unfair advantage.

A new kind of Nuzlocke challenge

$

Hey guys!

When I was playing Pokémon Y for a bit and thinking about Nuzlockes, I actually came up with a very interesting idea of a new kind of Nuzlocke challenge. I'm normally not a fan of these because you could easily work your way into a hole (i.e. Release a Pokémon who knows that one HM move you can't live without), but the Nuzlocke challenge I had in mind sounds like it could be a lot of fun. If this idea has been done before, well… Sorry I brought it up then…

Anyway, while most Nuzlockes are played by one person, the Nuzlocke I have in mind is supposed to be played by two or more players in what I like to call "Nuzlocke Tennis."

RULES
- You and a friend(s) start off on a Pokémon game of the same generation (mainly to allow the two games to smoothly trade with each other). Ideally, you should start off with different starter Pokémon and (if it's possible) different version of the game (i.e. Ruby and Sapphire, X and Y).

- Like all Nuzlockes, you are only allowed to catch only one Pokémon per route/area (Legendaries may or may not be an exception depending on what is agreed upon prior to starting the challenge); however, unlike other Nuzlockes, failing to catch the Pokémon on the route does not mess things up for you. Your are given as many chances as needed to catch only one Pokémon per route/area. Of course, once you finally catch it, your are not allowed to catch another Pokémon on the same route for the rest of the challenge. In other words, make the Pokémon you want count. Also, no duplicate Pokémon on your account (i.e. catching a level 5 Pidgy on route 1 and wanting to catch a level 15 Pidgey or Pidgeotto on another route). The only exception to this is if your friend somehow managed to catch the same Pokémon you did.

- You are not entitled to catch a Pokémon for every route/area. You could pass up a route for the time being to move on with the game and then return later to make your choice.

- Before catching any Pokémon once you get to the point where you could use Poké Balls, the first Pokémon you and your friend should get is a very weak Pokémon to use as a "trading catalyst." This Pokémon is not to be used for anything and it does not count towards the "only one Pokémon per route" rule. More of these Pokémon can be caught, but only if it is absolutely necessary. The purpose of the "trading catalyst" will be explained in the next rule.

- What sets this Nuzlocke apart from the others is what happens to KO'ed Pokémon. Usually, they are considered "dead" and must either be released or stored in a PC box. In this variation of the Nuzlocke, though, that is far fro the case. Any Pokémon in your party that faints must instead be traded to the other player and that Pokémon will then be used by the player as if its their own. Since it is not possible to simply give trainers your Pokémon (at least based on my knowledge), that is why you are required to have a "trading catalyst," so you can easily trade your Pokémon away. If you have a fainted Pokémon and your friend also has a fainted Pokémon, then both of those Pokémon can be traded at the same time.

- To further elaborate on the trading, once a Pokémon in either party faints, you and your friend are obliged to head back to the nearest Pokémon Center as quick as humanly possible (you could do a few small things on the way, such as catch a new Pokémon or two, but the Pokémon Center is the biggest priority). If one player is in a situation where going to a Pokémon Center is hard to get to (i.e. battling the Elite Four), then the players have the choice to keep moving on with the fainted Pokémon (even though the fainted Pokémon is not allowed to do anything besides a few basic HM functions or battle when no other Pokémon is up for it) until each player is at a good spot to meet up and trade. Also, if the Pokémon that has been traded to you faints, then you have to trade it back to the original player and this player will continue using it again until it faints. Afterwards, it will be traded back again. (NOTE: If there are more than two players in this Nuzlocke, then you have to trade the fainted Pokémon to another player instead of giving it back to the original player.)

- Healing items and Pokémon Centers are allowed, but any type of Revive is prohibited.

What do you think? To be fair, the rules are a total drag to read and confusing at times, but I think this could be a fresh new way to play the Nuzlocke challenge. If you have any questions, just let me know!

All right, here's the thread where I'll be posting all of my model rips!

Let's begin with some items and objects from Bayonetta. Until I figure out how to extract rigged models with all vertices available for texturing, I'll just be posting un-poseable items/objects for the time being.

These are all ripped from the Xbox 360 version, thus they belong under "Other Systems".

Simple thread, tell me your gastronomical preferences. What do you like, and what do you hate eating?

I like pretty much anything, but my fave dish is feijoada and my fave sweet is manjar

Feijoada (black bean casserole with pork, sausages and bay leaves and pepper, accompanied with cooked rice and braised couve-manteiga)

Manjar (sweet coconut milk pudding covered with caramelized plum syrup)

Now, some of the foods that I don't like is raw carrots, old and spongy apples (ugh) and compotes made out of orange peels.

(I will hate this forever)

Sprite Rip SOS

Okay.
I've been "ripping" sprites for a while now, but it feels so inefficient, slow, and the more I search the interwebs, the more I know other sprite rippers don't use this method, and the way I see it being done feels like magic or something. What I do is screencap, erase background, cut and paste, rinse and repeat in MS Paint. It normally gets the job done after, like, two or more weeks per sheet.
I've been investigating some of the programs that other rippers use, and I tried tile molester and yy-chr. Those programs are supposed to be able to undistort distorted sprite tiles and transform them into their original graphics, right? So I looked up some tutorials and followed their directions on how to use the programs, and guess what I found out I could do?
Nothing! The only progress I've made is that the tiles get mildly less disorted but still indistiguishable, ten times MORE distorted, or recolored. I've even followed the directions to the letter on the same rom the tutorial used, and still failed epically. So, the way I see it, I'm either overcomplicating it, underestimating its difficulty, or repeatedly missing some crucial detail that screws up the way I follow the directions. I know this is probably posted a lot in the forum, but can someone please help me out? Thanks in advance.

Death of a Holiday Legend

On January 30, 2014, the famous film producer Author Rankin, Jr. died. Considering that the holiday specials he produced mean the world to me when I was knee-high to a grasshopper and I still continue to like them in this day and age, his passing is extremely depressing to me.

This thread is for those who want to pay their final respects for a legend in Holiday specials and want to share their memories of growing up with anything produced by Rankin/Bass.

Creativity Contest 01

Let's get creative!

A lot of people complain that they aren't very creative, but they often shy away from events that would help them foster their creativity. I talked with Gors and we both thought this would be a good idea: a contest where you can use pretty much any form of media (so long as it's SFW). You can write a story, make sprites, draw and scan a comic, mock up a screenshot or even track some tunes based on the week's topic.

Topic:
Southeast Asia is in shambles. Corrupt leaders and violent riots have turned the entire Vietnam/Thailand/Cambodia/Laos/Myanmar region on its head. You were teaching English (or w/e your native language is) in rural Southeast Asia when a group of guerrilla rebels came to your hut.
"You. We want you to lead us to victory. We need your global viewpoint to help us rule."

So then, tVGR member, how will you react? Make sure to post your response media by Feb 10!

Examples:
- Story of your rule
- Your Declaration of Independece
- Mockup similar to a SimCity
- MP3 of your new national anthem

(please note that i love southeast asia and dont mean to offend. i just thought it was a fun setting!)

The main character Gwen(sounds familiar hmm) is fighting back against the dirty tactics of Limb Corp with her self made bionic arm and prosthetic legs, not only wanting to end the oppression, but also to not become immobile herself. As the second screenshot shows, you can race, and play other little games to pass the time when not on a mission, and there are also chase scenes and all that jazz. Boss fights consist of Limb Corps highest ranked assassins, and enemies consist of thugs, the desperate, and henchmen of Limb Corps."

Would like to have these models

Hi.

This is my first time doing this and I'm trying to make sure I'm following the rules to the letter.

I'm a model rigger for MikuMikuDance and I also have a review show on Blip where sometimes after a review, I'd fight someone in a mech. However, my mech selection is running dry.

Here's everything I'd like for now:
First up, Transformers for the PS2: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Transformers_%28PS2%29
I'd only like the AutoBots of the game in both robot & Vehicle mode along with the Decepticons/Including Tidal Wave in both Robot & vehicle mode.

Next is Megaman Network Transmission for the GameCube: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mega_Man_Ne...ansmission
I noticed on the Textures Resource that the textures for Megaman and the others are there so, I'd like to request all the character models if possible.

Next are 2 Power Ranger games, with the first being Power Rangers DinoThunder for the PS2: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Range...eo_game%29
As you control the zords & the Megazord the whole time, I'd like to have all the zords & the Megazord along with the Zeltrax model as well with his weapons.

Finally, Power Rangers Super Legends for the PS2: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Range...er_Legends
In the game, you play through the stage as a different ranger going through different time periods/AKA the different seasons and at the end of the levels, you of course summon your Megazord and kick some buttocks using the dumbest kind of controls for the mechs.

For this, I'd like to have the Megazord models, the model of Lord Zedd in the game, along with the Megazord opponents.

Well, that's about it. I hope this was OK and I don't mind waiting for the models as I'm not in a hurry to have them. Let me know if there's anything here that needs changing. Again, this is my first time asking for models like this.

Catch you guys later.

Ulitmate Video Game Roster Challenge

I don't know if I should have posted this in the Gaming section or the Lounge so move it if I'm wrong.

So I want you to list a roster for the most Ultimate Video Game Fighter of all time! This is a crossover of epic proportions.

However these are the rules:

1. Only Video Game Characters (must have originated from video game)
2. You can only enter up to 10 game companies
3. Each game company can only enter up to 4 characters they own and no more

Basically you list companies like Nintendo, Konami, or Sega (10 or less) and then list characters from those companies (4 or less) that will be on the roster. If you know math, that means there's a 40 character limit, however it can be less than that.

Now that you know the rules, let's see some rosters shall we?

It's time

[INDEV] Celestio - Simple God-Based 4x Strategy

You have just awakened.
You are a god.
Granted life and supernatural powers by the people's faith, You must expand your influence, gather more believers, along the way to becoming the supreme god of the land.

[Image: kami_shrine2.png] Build shrines to receive people's faith
Creating shrines expands your influence, and those who live within your territory will continually provide some belief every turn. As you gather more faith, you'll be able to build additional shrines to further grow your space.

Wield your supernatural powers to gather faith
People like reminders that they're right about life choices. Give them one by using your specific powers to destroy their enemies, raise their crops, and give them babies. You'll be rewarded with large amounts of faith, as well as resources to help grow your influence.

[Image: kami_hut.png] Help the humans survive
Those humans who created you are actually kind of stupid and have a hard time surviving without your help (which is pretty much why you were created in the first place). By using your powers in ways that benefit them, you help them to grow. As their populations grow, the villages upgrade into larger structures, and eventually even begin spreading into nearby land.

[Image: GWvyz63.gif] Beware the faithless [Image: kvF19H9.gif]
In lands unclaimed by any god, various monsters and evil creatures will periodically spawn to wreak havok on the gods' handiwork, destroying structures and populations. By creating and directing armies from your villages, you can teach those brutes a lesson about attacking a god's territory (and maybe net your followers some mysterious though tasty meat...)!
Later, those same armies can also be used to make war with rival gods, battling it out to determine who is the more powerful deity.

Interact with the lands of other gods
Other gods have similar though opposing goals to you, along with their own followers. If you can manage to defeat them and destroy their shrines, you will consume them and gain both their believers and their powers.
Alternatively, you can ally yourself with them, sharing their believers and slowly gaining faith from them.

[Image: 7VJODTU.png] [Image: fXVckVE.png]

Romantic comedies and political intrigues
Gods sometimes just wanna have fun. So you can throw parties and invite the other gods that you've met so far or recieve invitations to other gods' parties.

At a party, you can interact with the other gods directly to network, raise your reputation, find allies, make enemies, and even engage in romantic endeavors (which inevitably attracts additional attention, and eventually even faith from both gods' followers).

Failure decreases faith
There are a number of ways that you can lose gathered faith, weakening your powers. For example, if monsters ravage your land or if an enemy god makes successful attacks against you or your shrines, you will lose faith. If the surrounding areas around a shrine have their faith hit too severely, that shrine might even be pillaged by those who trusted you.

Become the supreme god
You can become the supreme god by becoming the one with the most faith or reaching a certain amount of faith (representing achieving absolute divinity, essentially). If there are no other gods left, that essentially counts as being the one with the most faith lol.

Current list of powers
Rain - Raise foodcrops faster.
Babies - Give sudden boosts in human reproduction!
Bastion - Give your armies greater defense when attacked!
War - Give your armies greater offense when attacking!
Wine - Raise foodcrops into wines, to make the populace happier (which reduces the amount of time it takes for villages to grow)!
Knowledge - Train the populace to help take care of itself by learning irrigation and other techniques to stabilize population growth. However, this can also lead to decreased faith as the people are better able to depend on themselves...
Hunt - Give your armies much greater strength in defeating monsters!

I'm hoping to get a basically playable version of this game out by the middle of the month (should include all planned features in some shape/form). After that is probably all balancing lol. As with SoL, this project will be developed in HTML5.

For now, this is the test version; I'll probably be updating it daily as new features are implemented.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7134...estio.html

Controls (will be customizable in the future):
D-Pad = Arrow keys
A Button (not used yet) = X
B Button (not used yet) = C
Select (not used yet) = Z
Start (not used yet) = Spacebar

The game can also be controlled via mouse (or touch on mobile devices).

Included features so far:
+ Just the hexgrid and a simple cursor so far... (Feb 03, 2014)
+ Added some placeholder structures for Shrines and Villages, along with basic Shrine Area of Influence (Feb 04, 2014)

Xeno series question

$

Ever since I first heard about that "Project X" way back in mid-2013, which looks like a really epic game, and is apparently going to be a new entry in the Xeno series, I've always wanted to play a Xeno game, and so I'd like to know which one I should start out with.

I'm thinking about starting with Xenoblade Chronicles, since I usually hear that that's the best one in the series. But at the same time, I heard that Chronicles didn't have robots or mechs in it, which is a big staple in the series, and that Project X marks their return. (from what my best friend on Steam told me)

Which would you recommend I start with, and which would you say is the best? And is the absence of robots or mechs in Chronicles really that bad?
