Dairantou: Smash Bros.

After seeing Super Smash Land, I thought 'hey that's an amusing concept - but those sprites are horrid!' With this in mind, I started to making tile mockups for my own GB Smash Bros. There are some limitations:

1- The character designs are based on their latest appearance in 1992-1993. This means, Fox and Yoshi is out (the latter because he had no enough moves at the time to qualify).
2- The entire game asset shall fit in this tiny 256x256 image. This means, tiles will be recycled (just like they were in old games).
3- I can only use another 256x256 block if the first one is completely full.
4- Palette is of course 4 colors: black, gray, light gray and white. Sprites must abide to 3 colors + alpha transparency rule.

New to the development scene and I've had this idea for a game in my head for a long time now. It was either going to be an RTS or an FPS, though I do prefer an RTS. Thing is I've always been terrible at art of all kinds although I can program well. But I lack any models, textures, or even a decent engine to work with. So I'm looking for help and suggestions, can anybody rip or create models for an RTS game set in the near future? The premise of the game is an American civil war between the government and the citizens, but I also have the possibilities of adding Chinese, European, and even Arabic factions into the mix if I can.
And does anyone have any suggestions for an engine to use?

would it be possible?

To rip the 3D character models from Resident evil the Merceneries 3D? with Textures? 

I love all those models and would LOVE! them so i can port them to other resident evil games! anyone think they can do this?

New To Ripping Stuff

I'm new to ripping stuff...Well, not really new. I just haven't ripped stuff in a long time (since I was 13 I think).

So, since I'm a bit rusty on the subject, you guys got any good tips on now to rip items from a DS emulator?

The game I'm trying to rip is Touch Detective, btw. (and yes I'm trying to rip both games)

I haven't seen anyone do this, so I decided to start the project myself.

So, I will be going through both Touch Detective and Touch Detective 2 1/2 for all the items you can get in the game (maybe I'll do 3 in the future IF it gets translated to English).

This will include the close-ups, and when they appear on the li'l item bar. They will be separated by the case they appear in as well, but not technically in the order you actually get them. I will also NOT include animations (I'm too lazy for that), nor will I work on Mackenzie's 'thought' sprites yet (you know, the ones that appear on the top screen).

If you guys wanna help, I'm starting on the 1st case of the 1st game already and have almost half the items. And btw, I use screencap for my rips as I use an emulator. 

I will be focusing ONLY on the first game for now, so I won't put rips from the 2nd game on my list until I get to it.

Ripping 3DS models without Gateway

My 3DS is already past firmware version 9.2, so I can't use Gateway to generate an xorpad for EncryptedRomFS.bin (as described in this thread). What do I do? Can this be done using Ironhax or Tubehax? Am I just out of luck?

So I've noticed that there aren't that many Viewtiful Joe models on TMR. And they're not that good. I want to rip Viewtiful Joe models but I have no idea where any of the models are and most of the stuff in the game is either in a .dusgc or .evtgc. Any leads for this?

So, Basically: I've been helping out a bit here http://mugenfreeforall.com/index.php?/to...onkeyhead/ and I kinda want to get him some of Wario's own voice clips since they would mesh pretty damn well with his SSBB clips. Sadly, the only ones I see that are on the Sounds Resource are of Captain Syrup and one of the bosses. Anybody think they could lend out a hand? If not I guess I may try and dig through the ISO... I'm not sure what the format for the game is though.

It always bugged me the fact that they were never added, and now that I've gotten a wee bit better at ripping mugshots... Sort of... Here's the few I got so far...

If you're like me, you've probably searched around for tutorials on Squirrel, only to find the same embedding guide over and over, or nothing at all. And if you're not like me, then you're probably wondering what kind of language gets called "Squirrel" anyway.

Well, either way, I started writing a course to learn Squirrel. I've currently got three sections completed as well as a basic VM for testing Squirrel code in. I want to rip the beam models from the Metroid Prime games. How do I do this? I tried using 3D Ripper DX with an old 32-bit version of Dolphin, but it didn't work. Thank you.

All what I know, is that my tiles and sprites need to fit in into the Style of Secret of Mana/Seiken Densetsu 2 for the Expansion project, I and RedScorpion have in mind.

One year is certainly a very long time and one were it is easly possible to forget aquaintances and friends back from that time.

I returned because I am active again in the spriting scene, so it is natural to go back and say hi and apologise for any silent uproar caused.

Seiken Densetsu 2 Retranslation and Expansion (need help in the graphic development)

Greetings everyone.

I recently joined RedScorpion's latest project to help him make it a reality. The retranslation of Secret of Mana, which is known as Seiken
Densetsu 2 in its original form.

As many of you know, the translator of the time Ted Woolsey, who was tasked with its translation back then, had a very unreasonable
deadline to met. Namely one month of time. As a result the translation was not only rushed, but also needed to be cut down, because
the data banks were not made for roman letters. In addition as the data banks couldn't be extented in time, Ted had no time to double
check his translations as well as he needed to improvise alot when he himself didn't understood the meaning of certain sentences.

The german version didn't fare much better in comparison, as Claude E. Moyse faced other problems. He was told by Square to make it funny, with a badly translated story script by Square. While it worked for us german kids, we are now grown ups and cannot find the same sort of joy reading the lines.

We intent to change that, thanks to FuSoYa's VWF and Moppy's Editor. First of all, while we intend to retranslate the game in both
english and german, we also plan to expand the game with the cut material and come closer to the original intent of the creators, back
when the project started as a SNES-CD game.

While we searched for the cut material, we found out to our suprise, that Chrono Trigger is the result of the unused ideas and concepts
of the original SNES-CD game.

While we cannot insert all of Chrono Trigger into it as well, we might just take the ideas and make them more fitting for Seiken
Densetsu 2.

However while we of the german Seiken Densetsu community would like to go out as soon as possible, we still need a translator,
who can help us to come as close as possible to the original, and even more to the original SNES-CD content.

Our wish is to expand on a properly retranslated original, because it feels right that way.

However, since I know the Spriter's Resource (yes I still use your old name) is known for its spendit sprite art, I am asking for help creating sprites and tiles in the Secret of Mana/Seiken Densetsu 2 Style, so it fits into the game like a glove to its hand. If there are Seiken Densetsu Fans, which posess great knowledge about the World of Mana series or can read japanese, you are welcome to help as well.


For now I created one sprite and/or tile set for the project, the Egg of Mana, which you can also see in my new thread.
