Ripping sounds from Gex 2

So after some furious googling I've managed to find my way into the .bigfile that all the Gex 2 sound files are located. However when looking through them in PSound all the voice lines, which are the ones I need, all seem to have the same filename (C:\gex3d\sounds\ ,even though that's a directory and not a filename), which means I can't convert them without the files overwriting themselves, and the sound files stop playing after about a second or so both in PSound and in a media player, so the files seem to be incomplete.
This is pretty much my first time trying something like this, so I don't really know what to do from here. If it means anything I've attached one of the converted sound files, and I'm using the UK/PAL version of the game.

So a project I've been working on off and on for years is poking through the Quiz Sailor Moon arcade game trying to figure out how to rip the sprites in a manner that will make me not insane. 

Today I finally put the last pieces together and I finally found the palettes so I can rip the raw data directly from the binaries! -> for those who are interested here are the Tileggd settings.

but to use them you'll have to interlace the binary files for spritemap1 and the palette back into one file. (Mame's configured to do this already, but Mame only displays the palettes it's presently using, not ALL of them.) It's one byte from each file in reverse order. U4, U3, U2, U1, U4, U3, U2, U1... for the palette file. U12, U11, U10, U9 for Sprite Map 1. Sprite Maps 2-4 aren't interlaced and are U13, U15, and U17.

I was wrong on where the palette started. That's where the critical character stuff is, but there's definitely palette information before that. looks like backgrounds. I've got no idea where the legitimate palette data actually starts. could be as early as 0x24000 ish.

Okay, so the image is wrong about where the palettes are. that's about where the important character palettes are, but I've got some fairly solid pal data as early as 0x2D810 There were about 4 potential palettes buried way earlier than that surrounded by code.

What Generally Keeps You Invested In Games?

We've all been there.  You'll get a game, and not like several or most things about it, but continue playing it for some reason.  Could range from the act of spending money on it (making you feel like you need to finish it to justify the purchase), to some aspect(s) of the game itself (like only going on because of the story or gameplay, etc.).

In my case, at the very least the gameplay needs to hold up.  If the game plays like shit or is boring to get through, playing it will feel like a chore.  But assuming the gameplay is at least decent, the OST will be the next hurdle.  The OST doesn't need to be catchy, but if it at least gets me invested in what's happening around the characters (atmospheric), then I can trek through and enjoy the tunes.  Assuming both of the former are at least up to par, the story.  This only applies to games that actually have a story of course, so games like PacMan would be excluded.  If there's going to be a story, it may as well be a good one, and one that actually makes me have a reason to care about the characters.  And finally, at the last leg of it all, the graphics, assuming the others are at least okay.  It goes without saying that pretty graphics can mask a terrible game, but if the graphics are at least appealing to look at, and the rest of the game is okay, then getting through it won't be that much of a chore.

Lately I wanted to rip models from a game called Alfea Butterflix adventures, is a unity game and comes with assets files. I tried to use Disunity to extract it and nothing happens, It worked on other games before. Can someone please tell me whats going on? I can post sample files.

Using the general N64 decompressor, I got a-ton of MP3 audio sounds of the game's voice-acting.

Some of them are a bit corrupted, I think? There's a huge library of over 400 + sounds. So there it'll be a bit hard to find any corrupted sounds/voices.

In general, samples that use Conker's voice seem to have odd artifacts on them. In-fact, they seemed to be sped-up. Which suggest that the game itself may be able to change pitch and speed of certain parts of voice acting.

I would post a zip of all the audio, but it's over the max file limit, as it's around 20+ MB when zipped.

Sprite Sheet Declined, Why?

Hey guys, I made a Cloud Yoshi sprite sheet and it got declined. Anybody know why? The sheet is attatched.
I think it got declined because there's not enough sprites. But it could be something else.

Laptop keeps freezing and fading to white.

My laptop just suddenly froze and is fading to white. It is doing it repeatedly as I type this. Any ideas? 

Its a Lenovo Z50, and I've never seen this before. I restarted after it happened and it seems to have stopped but its running notably slow now. I'm confident this will not be the last of this event.

After fooling around in 3ds max and photoshop for over 9000 hours I managed to make some progress on editing some models from the Megaman X series.


Here's my progress on Zero as he appeared in the original MMX game. * whoops, forgot I had X's Model too.

Since these models are simply edits, I'd like to thank DemonBoy for submitting the original models to this site.

*This is my first shot at modeling so if you see anything wrong with these models so far please don't hesitate to call me out on it.

TSR Thanksgiving Comic

All right. This is a comic I'm doing based on TSR's members though it starts out with two of my characters setting up the story.

The plot is this: After secluding himself for years, Jonathon wants to make a Thanksgiving day meal in honor of TSR's members for them helping his daughter Gabby pursue her artistic passions and helped her improve. Jon realizes this is a big undertaking and tries to get everything done days before the holiday. Some TSR members lend a hand and chaos ensues.

This comic will hopefully, be finished up in November as it would take me too long to do a Halloween comic.

NOTE: You can make suggestions. I might not be able to heed all of them, but I will try to keep your input in mind.

Confused? Here: "video games created by Japanese hobbyists or hobbyist groups (referred to as "circles"), more for fun than for profit; essentially, the Japanese equivalent of independent video games." That's doujin games. Smile

Anyway, I'm curious as to what experience you've had with doujin. I've only played a few freeware games because I'm very limited as I use a Mac OS X machine (I use Wine for anyone wondering).

I'm sure most of us know about Touhou. What started out as an idea from one person for a doujin game spanned a worldwide fanbase of gamers, cosplayers, artists, animators, etc. I've played many of the games at anime conventions and am not surprised that it has such a cult but still huge following.

But what other doujin games are out there for us to play? There are many sites that contain information about these games and may even provide download links to them. While it's a long and difficult process to allow PC's outside of Japan to play them, people somehow manage to be able to play them anyway.

Here's a fighting game that I discovered recently called Akatsuki BK. It plays a lot like a traditional fighter, but has some aspects similar to KOF-style fighting.

Okay, ive managed to discover a way to export models from the harry potter and the chamber of secrets (PC)
with joints / bones included

if im going to upload these models (joints included) what format should it be? or what should i do? i dont know if this site actual takes models with joints.
also what models do you want? you choose!
