Apply Textures (Blender) to imported .dae files?

0
0
Hello everyone!

So I have been ripping lots of models from sonic generations and I want to upload them to themodelresource, but since I cannot get the textures to apply themselves to the model properly, I cannot upload them yet.

So far I believe that the textures are being applied as materials instead on textures, and because of that I cannot view them properly.

*Screenshots coming soon, so that you can help me more!*

LEGO Ninjago 5 & Predators .PVR extractor

I've ripped the models from Predators & LEGO Ninjago 5, but I can't extract the .pvr textures. I've also got the same problem with Marvel's Future Fight. I can get the meshes, but not the textures!

Here's a picture of what I have so far... Predator, LEGO Man, Chuchillo

.png   prev.png (Size: 273.55 KB / Downloads: 2)

I've tried using:
TexturePacker: Crashes every time I try the .pvrviewer
PVRViewer: Not supported
PVREx: PVR has unrecognized pixel format
QUICKBMS Script: The textures come out crappy like!

I've attached a few textures, and hopefully someone can help.

Disabling Acceptance PMs

I received a report tonight that the option to disable PMs when a game or sheet is accepted wasn't working correctly. I've seen this report in the past, looked it over, and figured it was a glitch since it seemed to be fine and haven't heard anything about it since. Well, I gave it another look tonight and realized what was wrong. This option should now be working so for anyone who has it enabled, please let me know if you're still receiving PMs when your content is accepted or not. Thanks!

Edit:
As a reminder, this option only affects notification of accepted content. Rejections will always send a PM, regardless of your choice here.

Edit 2:
Also, for those that don't know or can't remember, this option can be changed from the Edit Profile page on any of the main sites (e.g. http://www.spriters-resource.com/editprofile/) or directly on the forum via the profile editor here (http://www.vg-resource.com/usercp.php?action=profile). You can also change your default submitter name from both of these locations as well.

Copyright problems with game sounds

I have a friend in question, by chance one can catch a game sounds, movies, series, and edit it until they look like? Can one be sued for copyright why? and if so how realize you took your sound?
and if one takes the sounds are normal things like water sounds, explosion, hit, sounds that identify the game, there may be problems of demand and copyright? It is a question that I have, because I do not think there is a person looking in detail each game sound and comparing them with yours have if you have copyright, to think it's absurd but hey, it's just a question that I had in case of doubt, hope your response and thank you for taking the time to read this post, And sorry for my bad English  Cute

Hi there, I'm Monobrobe. I like games.
Honestly I haven't been on a proper forum in years, so I'm not sure if I'm gonna be a regular or what.
I just came here because I was looking for particular sprites, and next thing I knew I was making an account.
I've also ripped a bunch of sprites myself which aren't on here. I'm kinda hesitant to upload them because I dunno how well that'd go over with Daedalic. I'm not exactly sure how legal this all is. Plus I'd have to actually make the sprite sheets and I dunno how to do that aside from manually pasting everything.
Um. Yeah. I'm not exactly a hacker. I was just curious about stuff so I went through all these hoops and hurdles and succeeded in the end. It was actually kinda fun once I figured out what I had to do.
I also have this bad habit of over-explaining myself when I get nervous so this is probably also the result of that.
Anyways... Not sure if I'll end up staying, but I decided to check this place out. I hope that doesn't sound rude or anything, I'm just kinda... testing the waters?

Have no fear, I am here!

Hey peoples, I'm Mwc(if you didn't already know somehow), I've been lurking for quite a while and finally decided to register, why now all of a sudden? I have no idea, it felt like I should've done it already, but anyways, enough of that, welcome me, don't welcome me, give me a few pointers about anything, or just drop a cookie and I'll just take it and eat it in a corner or something, thaaaannks!

P.S I'm not very good with introductions Big Grin

(Lack Of)Female Enemies in Video Games

0
0
First off, I apologize if anyone on this site started a discussion similar to this one, but I wanted to get this out of my system because it's been bugging me for a while.

Have you noticed that a lot of video games seem to be lacking in female enemies? It seems that in the world of gaming, bad girls are usually taking the role of bosses or NPCs, but not random mooks the hero can take out on the spot. When they do appear as standard enemies, they're always portrayed as dominatrices or hookers; this is particularly true in beat-em-ups, such as Double Dragon and Streets of Rage. Meanwhile, male enemies are portrayed as bikers, pirates, soldiers, 1930's gangsters, and more.

Even modern-day games have fallen victim to this gaming-gender issue. For example, in Batman: Arkham City, we have the Caped Crusader beating the shit out of countless male convicts, but the only female goons he takes out are ninjas (Which doesn't really make sense to me from a realistic standpoint; I don't recall any female ninjas in Japanese history.). Do you mean to tell me that Arkham Asylum doesn't house female convicts, save for Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn?

Hell! In The Last of Us, the only female enemies you ever encounter in the game are zombies, which-if you think about it-is really sad. You'd think that in a post-apocalyptic setting, standard gender roles would be demolished...unfortunately this doesn't seem to be the case.

So long story short, why do most video games have no female enemies? Sad

Screen capture models from Saturn emulators?

I tried using 3D Ripper DX with SSF because SSF claims to use DirectX, but all I got were flat rectangles. Is there any Saturn emulator compatible with 3D Ripper DX, or any other method of 3D capture from any Saturn emulators? People have ripped Saturn models before, so I'm positive there's some way.

Sega Pico

I've been doing some research, and it turns out that the Sega Pico had several awesome looking games for it. Games based on Pokemon, Sailor Moon, etc. - really cool stuff.
Visually it's all actually pretty decent, too...

Since the hardware of the Pico isn't too far off that of a Mega Drive, I'd appreciate it if people could try and take a look into these games to see if it's possible to rip from them easily? I've begun to look into them myself, but so far not having much luck with examining the data. I'm not sure how much I really want to use the old fashion ripping methods though.

NSFW Content

Hey guys,

I've begun to notice more and more that games are cropping up from the adult genre on the site, and I'm wondering if we should implement a proper NSFW system on the site. I'm not sure how we'd go about doing this yet so I'd like to see some of your ideas.

As this site has a policy of not restricting content for users that aren't registered, I'm not sure how we should go about keeping the content from being seen by a younger audience. My main idea would be a cookie being implemented that would remove the NSFW filter from displaying. Where is sheet is normally displayed, if marked as NSFW, we have a notice saying the content has been marked, and in order to see it the user must click an additional button before it's displayed for download or viewing.

Not all adult titles are exclusively adult. As a result I don't think this filter should apply to games, but only to sheets.

Perhaps the best method of implementing this would be a check to see if the sheet has been tagged as NSFW using the new tagging system that is being worked on?

Should we have a genre exclusively for these games too?

Let us know what you think.

Odd Mario Kart 8 SZS issue.

I've been exploring the files and internal bits of Mario Kart 8, and I can see that the szs files are yaz0 files, that's not terribly difficult to figure out, use the decoder, and I am left with a RARC file. Now, all of my RARC file extractors do not work, and simply renaming it to SARC, which my reading has lead me to, result in nothing, using UWizard to extract SZS SARC I get nothing either. "Error extracting SARC archive! "Not a SARC archive!" it says in it's magnificent redundancy. So, I'm just wondering why exactly this is happening, then again it's 5 AM and my brain is mush right now. So, I'll post this, sleep, then check back later.

Commodore 64 sprite-ripping

Ever since the renovation to the Other Systems section providing sub-sections for systems with only a few number of sheets, I got encouraged to rip some sheets from games released for the system, and maybe provide some useful info and tricks incase anyone else wants to rip sprites form a C64 game.

The preferred emulator I use is CCS64, and it has a number of useful tools for those wanting to do sprite-rips.

*Alt+P pauses the emulator, though it may also shift the game screen upwards or downwards. Also, you can't pause and unpause repeatedly due to the popup boxes which causes the emulator to skip frames upon unpausing.
*Alt+I does a frame-advance while the game is paused (holding it plays the game in slow-mo, but if you make an input in-game while frame-by-frame-advancing, you have to release Alt+I and hold them again), very helpful for capturing sprites with fast animations that repeated pausing and unpausing don't work too well for.
*Alt+F1 takes screenshots, which can be done while pausing.
*Options>General allows you to set the emulator's speed, far more useful for doing multiple screenshots in one quick section than frame-advancing if you set it to a low value. Unfortunately there's no way to switch between a low speed and normal speed through shortcuts (Alt+F3) that I know of, only normal and high speeds.

Hopefully this info will prove to be useful in one way or another.

INTRODUCTION:
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (クライシス コア -ファイナルファンタジーVII- Kuraishisu Koa -Fainaru Fantajī Sebun-?) is an action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix for the PlayStation Portable. First released in 2007, the game is a prequel to the 1997 video game Final Fantasy VII and is a part of the metaseries Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, which includes other products related to the original game.

The game primarily focuses on Zack Fair, a young member of the paramilitary organization SOLDIER, who is assigned to look for the missing SOLDIER Genesis Rhapsodos. As he searches for Genesis, Zack discovers Genesis' origin, Project G, and how it is related to two other high ranking SOLDIERs; Sephiroth and Angeal Hewley. The game's storyline takes the player from the war between the megacorporation Shinra and the people of Wutai to the events in Nibelheim, ending just before the beginning of Final Fantasy VII.

The game was directed by Hajime Tabata, with Tetsuya Nomura serving as character designer. Before development, the Square Enix staff initially planned to make a PlayStation Portable port of the mobile phone game Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII, but after discussion, they decided to create a new game. The plot is based on a scenario Kazushige Nojima had in mind when working on Final Fantasy VII. Crisis Core enjoyed strong sales, selling over three million units worldwide.[3] Critical reception was generally positive.

Ripping the models too Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core is fairly straight forward, Noesis will do all the hard work for you. Personally, I think this game is one of the easiest games to extract models from. It comes with everything, so don't sweat it.

THE STEPS TO A GREATER MODEL EXPERIENCE
  STEP 01:
Rename the extension of your Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core ISO from .iso, too .zip or .rar. Right-Click on your newly formed archive and select "Extract Here". Once extracted, delete the now obsolete .rar archive.

.png   FFVII-CC_TUTORIAL_01.png (Size: 104.71 KB / Downloads: 1)

  STEP 02:
Open your copy of Noesis and navigate to directory that contains the file "discimg.pkg" and click on it, too display the file. Right-Click on "discimg.pkg" and select "export". Now press "export" on the popup window.

.png   FFVII-CC_TUTORIAL_02.png (Size: 138.56 KB / Downloads: 1)

  STEP 03:
Once all the files have been exported, close the popup window and click on the little "+" icon next the "USRDIR" folder on the left. Now you will see a new folder, "discimg_files", click on the little "+" icon again and click on the folder titled "models". Now a long list of models will show up. These models contain Characters, Monsters, Levels, Props, Vehicles and Weapons. Double click on a file, and admire what your hard work has accomplished thus far.

.png   FFVII-CC_TUTORIAL_03.png (Size: 202.08 KB / Downloads: 1)

  STEP 04:
Right-Click on an .FF7CCMODEL and select "export". Remember the name of this model. In the popup window, select "Flip UV's". This is done because Noesis has a tendancy to flip the UV's itself when exporting as an .OBJ file. This will extract .OBJ Models and .PNG textures

.png   FFVII-CC_TUTORIAL_04.png (Size: 205.77 KB / Downloads: 3)

  STEP 05:
Left-Click "OK" and close the popup. Close Noesis and then open the directory where you FF7CCMODEL files are. Navigate the file you exported and there will be an .OBJ. Left-Click that file, and located the .PNG files and Left-Click them. Press "CTRL-X" or Right-Click and select "Cut". Go into the previous folder and press "CTRL-V" or Right-Click and select "Paste".

.png   FFVII-CC_TUTORIAL_05.png (Size: 130.42 KB / Downloads: 2)

  STEP 06:
Import the .OBJ into which ever 3D Modelling program you use and texture it. Render the image, and voila, you've officially ripped your first Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core model!

Crash The Wrath Of Cortex Model Ripping HELP!

I am trying to rip some of the models on the GameCube version and I have no clue what the model format is or how to get a 3d model from the game.

Some facts I know about the games file format
The .obj file format doesn't use the normal .obj format so in other words, it cant be opened in blender
the .bkn files seem like they are just backup files due to them being everywhere and they are .FILEEXTENSION.bkn

I really want to try to rip them this way so I could get full levels and/or t posed characters, Also my computer sucks and it cant run the game but it can view the files  Unimpressed
