My friends and I talked about this project and we analyzed what didn't really work in the original idea:

1- Not enough spontaneous weirdness
2- OW THE EDGE storyline
3- Sprites were a little too big for the style - which caused some props to be low-detailed

Because of these, we devised a new style that should easen production. The hardest part (type of perspective for rooms) has been decided and while it's not visually accurate to real life, it is detailed enough to maximize immersion.

I made a small mockup for your enjoyment! I'll make more as I progress further.

Yep, another one of these! I'm actually ripping the dungeons and areas rather than items and characters which everyone else seems to be doing instead. I just wanted to wait to make a thread until I knew the format in which I submitted these areas would be accepted, so now that I'm sure I can actually start submitting all of the overworld models from both OoT3D and MM3D!

SMS and maybe Game Gear are my main focus on this site (with other games as well that I feel like doing).

I currently use Fusion as my emulator for Sega games, is there a way to disable the layers like how with some emulators?

Are there any SMS emulators that are capable of doing so?

Please note that I have noticed that there is a thread discussing favorite game graphics here: http://www.vg-resource.com/thread-28560.html. But I'm trying to make this thread more centric around how characters look and how they effect the game overall.

No, this is not a thread purely for posting "I LIKE LINK. CUZ HE HAVE SWROD." This is more about the visual presentation of characters and how they impact playing the game for you personally. However, you can talk about the sprites/models of that character if you like, instead of the general design.

Allow me to start. You probably already know that I love girly cuties, so how about I break the boundaries a bit:

For me, Sonic has looked his best in the DS trilogy (Rush, Rush Adventure, and Colors). There's something about the bright DS screen that just fits like a puzzle with the colorful cel-shaded polygons of the blue blur. Also, the way that he animates is not very choppy at all like in the Adventure games and 06 and whatnot. When I first got Sonic Rush back in like 2006-ish (woah, that's ten years ago from now...), I would always set my DS backlite to the highest brightness. My eyes would start hurting from playing too long, but that was mostly because after getting the game for Christmas, I was completely hooked to it and played it for like weeks afterwards. Eventually I'd start playing in smaller bursts, lol.

So yeah, Sonic's vibrant and colorful model made nearly every aspect of the DS games so much fun to play for me. There were a few downsides to them, of course (Rush having excessive death pits, Rush Adventure having ridiculous special stages, Colors being too short, etc.), but Sonic Team aced the graphics with flying colors, and I'd probably say those games are up there with CD, my other all-time favorite Sonic game.

So what are some character designs/sprites/models that you think improve gameplay/gamefeel/whatever you wanna call it? You can also feel free to bring up designs that don't really have any great impact or are poorly-designed.

Introduction

Hey guys! I'm new to this forum but ready to hop into action! I got a base engine ready to go for an online MMORPG game, in which is ready to be expanded on! I need a skilled team to help me through the way!

What is it?

As of this moment.. nothing! That's where you come in! I need a skilled team of people who can help brainstorm and put together an amazing custom Mario MMORPG! I have the base engine and an extensive amount of experience in programming. The programming language as of right now is Visual Basic. There are quite a few fields of positions availible and desperatly needed!

What do we need?

I need a skilled or not so skilled group of people with the motivation to build a great game together! Currenty I am requiring the following:

~Programmers(Urgent)
~Idea Generators/Game Planners(Urgent)
~Moderators(When put online!)
~Map creators
~Game Dev's(Maps, Items, Shops, NPC's, and any other aspects!)
~Administrators
~Possible Server Hosts/Backup Hosts(Urgent)(This is a serious position and gives full control of the game, don't expect just anyone to be chosen! This is a high "honour!)
~Possible Co-Owners if skill level is high enough!(If you are a server host, you are automatically a Co-Owner!)

and, so far that is all I can conclude to what I need so far! I will add or remove positions accordingly!

help spriting a pixel perfect force feild sprite

can someone help me sprite a force field sprite?
its for a mod to a game called starbound which is a sandbox platformer.
I would like to have animation where it has a scan line rising up from the bottom refreshing the shield.
however I am bad at drawing 3d objects

I have tried attempting to sprite it starting from top and scanning to bottom but I can't even do half of this.

I'm moreso making this as a vent/help me/anger thread because I am very unhappy, please move if in a baddie spot

So I buy RPG Maker VXAce years ago from the official site, everything is fine and dandy, until I stop using that computer for a while, and eventually get a new laptop sometime mid-2014. After going "Hey! That other laptop wasn't doing so great last I was on it, I should move over all my programs!" it's almost like that was the signal for something awful to happen. I go over to the old laptop (from before-2011, may I add) and it makes a clunky noise, then shows a harddrive error against a blackscreen upon barely starting up. I try again, multiple times, some tries worst than the first. It basically couldn't find the harddrive, and so 3 years-worth of unrescued files were down the toilet. And I had saved A LOT of files on that. (So much that it's probably the reason it died...oops).

AKA, my legal copy of RPG Maker was gone.

Not wanting to deal with having to buy it allover again, as it is like $70 USD (especially just after getting a whole new laptop), I go the lazy questionable route of getting a crack version. I mean, I had already paid before, right? The original problem eventually escaping my mind, I use this version of VXAce for a good amount of time, even coming up with 3 legitimate projects (AKA projects that aren't tests and aren't things I forget about by the next week).

So now we're at current time. Really proud and energetic about my works-in-progress, and finding out I had an account in an RPG Maker forum, I decide to start threads on them. But before posting anything regarding that, a quick scan thru the general rules stated that using pirated software would result in an instant ban. BIG PANIC MOMENT. In a freak-out moment, I go back to the official site, can I re-download the Maker for free? Or at least get a new serial key or something that's not basically 70 bucks? Sign-in fails. I check my email, and it shows I'm getting newsletters from the site -- on two email accounts, even. I do the "forgot password?" thing trying both emails. "Account not found", basically. What?? You mean to say I am signed up for RPG Maker news, downloaded various demos, BOUGHT A FULL PROGRAM, and I don't have an account? What? ....

I am really unhappy. Either way it looks it'll have to be purchased again, but I would've much preferred the login was successful but with no redownload option. And  especially when the next RPGMaker I would've wanted to buy would be the new MX, which of course THAT is 80 bucks! grrr.....

Oh well. Time to sell some stuff, I guess. Been meaning to, anyway.

Astonishia Story (PSP) & TiledGGD - How to get the graphics?

Since Tinke can't do anything to Black Sigil (DS) because most of it is encrypted, I'm currently trying to get something from Astonishia Story (PSP) with TiledGGD.

It's a single ISO file and when I'm opening it with TiledGGD 2.0.3.0 (---> open graphics), it's just a black picture.

Is there anything I have to keep in mind when I'm working with PSP ISO files?

Hi! Not to sound like a totally impatient....person....but how does the queue work? I uploaded a zip of sounds (not the music) on what says the 5th of this month, but it's still just kinda....sitting in my pending box. If I did something wrong or if things can really be this slow sometimes, just let me know.


Anyway, I hope sharing off-site links isn't a problem!
I've ripped what seems to be every sound and all/most music from Harvest Moon DS. You can use these however you want, just credit me! Unless you make it a ringtone or something, then it's kinda hard to credit anything.

Note that the music is only WAVs and does not loop forever; and the sounds  have basically been ripped twice with different methods, some sounding a bit different. See for yourself! I wasn't sure which one was best, so I included both.

The problem is I change the speed and it makes nothing perfect with good voice and horrible sound in the background like when you import raw data, it does not change for me I have tried 10 times and nothing happens it just keep repeating everytime  Unimpressed Unsure Shocked  Rolleyes

I'm trying to edit a .bin file. This file contains only relink of audio files. This is the header:

I don't know real file estension and if it's crypted. I would know how working.

can someone help me revamped these sprites

since someone with good spriting skills could do this very easly

if you don't trust me since I'm new you can always hold onto the sprites intill i pay

Duludubi Star [".zhp" files]

In case you are unaware of what Duludubi Star is by any chance it's this bizzare Mario Galaxy knockoff from China with many stolen assets apparently. So out of curiosity I wanted to rip from the game and managed to find a working download link preserved by somebody on ZetaBoards. I managed to locate the game's data file and have uploaded it here. The problem I am having is I don't know what a .zhp file is. I looked for some scripts on QuickBMS and nothing even comes close. I heard you have to do it through a command prompt but I am terrible with navigating through one of those, and since I'm running on Windows 10 these days it gets more confusing.

Any help would be appreciated. I'll probably see what this game holds or has to offer, and possibly upload a few models if I get the chance.

Why the hell are we ripping Undertale?

Hasn't it been clearly stated the dev wanted the sprites to not be uploaded? As proven by this message in the game's files? (Located under File0013 is this lovely message)

I also know in the new update, it has been overwritten with this:

(It's silly, but I still think the older message still applies)

I still think it's sorta offensive to just go and rip the sprites. It's like letting a dog have it's dinner at the normal standard time, then you just say "Screw it" and don't give a shit anymore.

Either way, if you have reason the VG resource is allowing this (with proof), then I won't care. For now, I'm pretty damn disappointed with you all. Since I thought your were users with spaghetti standards.
