Ripping help

Here's the deal I've been trying to rip some sprites from a data.win file by using a program called x-ripper. It gave ripped them but it didn't do it correctly. It had rectangular smudges of colors on the outside of most individual sprites. A while back I did this to Undertale's data.win and it did the same thing. I even tried a different program like quickbms to perform the same task. And yet the same issue occurred. If anyone knows of a better program to try out or a way to fix whatever is causing the extra pixels, please let me know how to fix it. Any help would be great.

Hello, all of you Video Game Resource folks. I am Falconpunch, and I'm here because I wanted to help out with a certain game section in The Spriters Resource...

Romancing SaGa 2.

I'll admit, that game has been my latest craze for months, even if I haven't fully beaten it yet. But, oh my goodness, the remastered version looks so gorgeous compared to the old SNES version. Then I realized that, these enemies were cool, but wait: There's nobody here who has already ripped all the standard enemies! It's a real shame, too, since a lot of these enemies are really cool.

So, long story short, after ripping and using a bunch of enemies for my own free projects, I decided to help out a little and just rip ALL of the enemies in Romancing SaGa 2. However, there's a small problem here: There's the original SNES version, which we all have used. But I actually got all these sprites from the Remastered version, only on Smartphones as of now. So I'm not even sure where it even belongs in anymore. And yes, there is a major difference with enemies' sprites between versions of this game: It's mostly them using more vibrant palettes and removing the shadows from under enemies and replacing them with a better one.

While in the RS2 Smartphone Remastered version, several enemies are now animated as they are considered bosses somewhere, I could not completely rip all of them. 2 of them were missing. Unfortunately, some of them looked ugly when I ripped them like I would with a normal enemy's sprite, or rather, I just couldn't do it somehow. That's out of my reach. So, if you take a look at my RS2 enemy spritesheet, know that two out of all 264 enemies are missing. If you could help me on that and some of the other animated ones to make them look better, I would be appreciated.

This doesn't mean my rip is incomplete: Far from it. I took all the time and effort to rip them all so you guys could use some awesome looking enemies like a ghostly girl attached to a string coming out of a skeleton with some purple flames and electricity around it, or maybe a figure coming out of a card, all the like. I was glad to do it for you guys, and maybe for me too, when I would like to use them.

Sorry for the really lengthy introduction, but I'd really like to explain why I came here, so you guys can put my rips to good use, and maybe even help me out just a little bit with those "animated" enemies. Right now, I'm working on the boss sprites, so a lot of those guys will be animated. Lastly, once I post my spritesheet somewhere, wherever they are supposed to be submitted, I'd like to see what you guys will come up with with a sheet icon. Those are cool.

Thank you all for listening, and I hope you have a wonderful day.  Big Grin

Using Sprite Sheet as Model?

Hi all,
I am new to the forum, this is a great site!
I am looking to use an animated sprite sheet as a template, and build over it in PowerPoint to create better looking sprites based on the underlying sprite.  What are the ethical considerations here, especially for using in a commercial game or free game. My new sprites will resemble the original ones but be entirely custom built.
Your thoughts are much appreciated!
Best,
R

Romancing SaGa 2: Enemies - By Falconpunch

Hello, all, and welcome to my sprite submission thread. This one is dedicated to helping out the RS2 area and filling it with all enemy sprites possible, whether it's from the original or remaster. So, without further ado, I give you...the complete collection of standard enemies in the RS2 remastered version!

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/2...nemies.png (I hope this URL is acceptable, I couldn't find any good image hosting sites without having to sign up or deal with image resizing)

Like I said before, 2 "animated" bosses are missing, due to of being poor quality to rip properly. But, that's okay, as it's got most of the enemies in this game. Bosses not included, of course. I do not have a page icon for this, but I would like to see what you guys can come up with, seeing as though they are all pretty awesome.

I hope this is all acceptable, as I have shown the names of all the enemies, and even sorted them out in each catagory they belong in, with an additional background color to sort of fit the theme.

Any opinions? And, sorry for all the "I hopes", I'm just such a complete newbie to submitting sprites and such, but not visiting the site in general.

★ The Sonic Adventure 2 Problem ★ - Dreamcast Ripping

★ I need help from anyone that knows coding well, models, binary ((.bin) & hex editing), and who has the ability to learn to help us with this endeavor. ★

The SA2 problem is the fact that we are unable to properly/successful rip all/most models from the game (- most stage models).

Many of you may or may not know this but Over the years many people have been trying to rip from Sonic Adventure 2, especially the Dreamcast version. While there have been programs designed to do this by various people such as Kryslin, SANiK, and MainMemory for Dreamcast games such as NiGHTS, Skies of Arcadia, Sonic Adventure, and Sonic Adventure 2, there has been no program to successfully be able to rip/export the models from these games with all of the models parts [At least publicly, supposedly there was one that someone had privately but they lost it after something happened to their hard-drive]. (This includes all bones, vertices, polygons, textures/texture formatting, proper RGB values, materials, etc.) Even all of the versions of both Sonic Adventure games from prototypes to re-releases have problems with models being ripped, mainly character models. (Stages are easier to rip,but characters are not because stages don't really move/change that much if that makes any sense.)

I need help from anyone who see's this and is familiar with the code from the Dreamcast console/games, and some/all of the sonic adventure games, or good at coding or understanding coding at all. I have spoken to MainMemory (as seen in the images below) and he believes that the problem is with the something in the program he has written in SA Tools, mainly being SAMDL with verticies and polygons for this part of the program. https://github.com/sonicretro/sa_tools/b...ch.cs#L200

soul calibur: unbreakable soul project

Hi,
I am starting a project to preserve the cancelled ios game soul calibur: unbreakable soul.  I have ipa's of the game, a programmer who is going to try to create a private server for it, and I just found someone who has it installed on an older ipad.  The game is setup similar to how sonic runners is in terms of needing an internet connection to run it, and the data for the game assets needed to be downloaded from the game server.  This was an ios only game.  Does anyone here know how I can get the game data off the ipad?  It is a 32 bit ipad 2, running ios 9.3.3.  Those can't be jailbroke right now.  If I can somehow get this data, we can start on the project.  Thanks for any help.

Pokémon Super Rumble Ripping Project

Alright alright so I'm usually a sounds guy.. but recently I had some help and a lovely guy named Hallowpape helped me decompress the models from this game. I'm looking for help, as there is NO way I will be able to do this by myself. The standard archives use LZH8 compression and can be decompressed with any lzh8 decompressor, and then loaded into Ohana etc. I've seen it as necessary enough for a ripping thread for this. If anyone is interested, comment below. The models aren't of high quality. They're low-poly DS style (we all know how Rumble is). So! With that said: EVERYTHING needs to be ripped. I've gone through and extracted 460 of the Pokémon, but they aren't good enough for submission and need working on. I plan to deal with SOME of Gen I. So, grab the files and let's do this!

Weird palette choices

...Specifically in 2D games, of course. let's talk about this obscure topic.

We all know of Link's pinkish hair in ALttP, but there are many others out there, like Mario and Luigi having greenish brown hair in Super Mario Bros and Ice Hockey players from Canada wearing green uniforms instead of red. Either they contradict the official game art or are just strange on their own, feel free to give an example.

[PAID] Anime Eye Blink

Looking for an artist to animate multiple anime eyes I have made. I just want to start with the blink of one eye for testing
[Image: jXtvlPut.png]
The eye is separated into Layers, and this needs to be preserved in the animation frames. The final product will be a layered spritesheet, but I am willing to build the final sheet provided the animations.
I would prefer an example of your work pertaining to the subject over a full portfolio, and an estimate for the first blink

You can contact me here or in email <r3ngad33@gmail.com>

hello I am new to the forums but I need help for a personal nature. I am in need of something that can help rip the model of a character from an MMO called Rift on a windows 10 computer. I am done playing the game but loved the character model so much I want to use it for personal use in the future. I haven't been able to get back onto this in a long time since they outdated my old computer which had a program that could have worked back then, now not at all. So any ideas on a program that can help me with my problem? Help will be appreciated thank you.

Using jPSXdec I was able to rip the audio, video, and texture files, but I'm not sure how to rip the models themselves. I don't even need to get clean 3D models from it. I don't care if it's like a snapshot of the scene. I would just like some 3D data to work with. Although the nicer the better  Smile.

3D Ripper seems to require an exe. I just have a ROM... what am I missing.

What's Up with my Sprites?!

Okay, so, I made a series of sprites for a character from a favourite obscure game series of mine (Wonderland), and that character was named Stinky (An example screenshot of what he looks like is marked 'Reference'). The sprites were designed to look like a mystery mushroom costume from Super Mario Maker. The sprite sheet marked 'Original' is the sheet that I first submitted about a week ago. The sheet got declined, so I messaged the member of the team who declined it what was wrong. He quickly, and rather kindly, responded that the colour palette did not fit the rest of the mystery mushrooms, and implying that this was the only issue with it. He also implied that any future concerns over a rejection should be posted to the forums, and I also agreed with that. In fact, I agreed with everything he said to me. A friend over Twitter analyzed the features of the Mario Maker Mystery Mushroom colour palette, and found that the colours were muted and had far less shading to them than the sprites I'd made. They were also kind enough to re-do the palette for me to fit with the Mario Maker style, and so then I applied that palette to the sprites, creating the sheet marked 'Revision 1'. I resubmitted the sheet, only to find a PM today from a different moderator telling me it still wasn't good enough! I took the previous advice of going to the forums into consideration, and here we are now. So, what is the issue with my sprites, guys?

P.S. The stale walking animation is a reference to how he walks in-game, and I also mentioned this when submitting the 'Original' sheet, and the moderator confirmed that the rejection had nothing to do with the animations.

P.P.S. If the image below isn't visible, imgur has probably deleted it from their servers, and by that point I imagine this topic will no longer be relevant.
