    Hi, long time no see.

its been a few years since i last did any sprite art, and ive gotten very rusty. but! im picking things up again. I've got plans for a short rpg/game inspired by the band utopia and their song singring and the glass guitar. ive been playing around with some art to decide how i want the art direction to go, and well, i'm very bad at rpg style sprites and profiles. so what better way to improve than to ask for some help?

i'm starting out with my main boy todd rundgren.

from left to right, bangs, no bangs, and glam hairstyle. i dont think the last two would be used because of the setting, but it doesnt hurt to show off. im not sure how detailed i should be getting with the heads in the sprites, considering these aren't anime characters who are best identified by hair color but rather the subtle differences in our faces that make up each and every one of our faces. also i dont know if i should be including lips on his overworld sprite....

Hey nerds, after being unsatisfied with the status of ripped models from monster hunter on this site, and wanting some actual references for my drawings, I decided to take ripping stuff into my own hands. unfortunately, 3ds ripping is largely a mess, and trying to find converters for capcom's file system was even more of a hassle. thankfully, i found scripts that work for the 3DS monster hunter games! So I can rip the monsters, and probably hunters and weapon/armor as well. We shall see.

I started with stories, because I liked the style. Thankfully, these scripts work with any capcom games and I can do MH3U and MH4U, as well as MHGen too. No MHXX, because I don't have the game.

For Stories, all model variations are stored in the same file. This includes child and rage mode models, and monstie models (where applicable, like deviljho). Unfortunately, these are not named and sometimes the differences are so subtle that it's hard to tell what part of the model belongs to which! Also, some models, like Lagiacrus, are fragmented in very strange ways and are very confusing to tell what part belongs to what part of the model state.

You see, with some monsters, like the monoblos, the "wild" type monoblos uses a different model from the monstie model, which just uses a different head. Some of the differences are subtle, and even though ive completed the game, its still hard to tell the difference and determine which is which. For these, I've labeled the parts as "alt" or something when i named the objects in the file. Some might be a bit mismatched. Again, its very hard to tell which part goes to which version of the model.

If you've played stories, you probably know that if you put enough elemental genes on a monstie, it'll change element and also change color a bit. All the base models color the color changing parts white, and use a strange overlay that I'm not sure how to apply on the model to change the colors, so you'll have to deal with Lagiacrus with white horns instead of orange or red or whatever color it is my lagiacrus is a fire type i dont know. If i find a way to apply these textures to the model, I will.

This is a google drive of the models I've ripped. No rigs, sadly, but I hope that's alright for this site. At the moment, there are 2 files in each folder for the model: one is the original export from the game without any of my changes. These models are not centered and are kind of scaled oddly because I fucked up the scale in 3ds max and i don't really care enough to fix it. Then there is the .fbx that is fixed, has named parts, textures/materials, and fixed normals etc. There are also alphas of the transparent textures in the folder, because I work in 3ds max and it apparently doesnt accept the alpha channel of the texture so I have to separate it manually.

    3DS Max Screenshots

Unfortunately for all you hunters of unused content, there is none in these models that I could find, just the as-of-yet unreleased DLC for the international versions.

I have only ripped a few models from the game right now, but if you guys have any requests for monsters to be ripped next, let me know!

I would really appreciate help figuring out how to get the image files, specifically the dialogue sprites, out of these game files. I don't really know what to do with this type though, I've tried googling it and tried some of the things I found but so far none of them have worked. There seem to be three main versions of the files; .phyre, dae.phyre, and dds.phyre, but I don't know which would be likely to have the sprites, or what to do to get them to a regular image format, preferably .png with transparency if possible. I uploaded a test file of each type if it helps.

If someone knows how to rip it for me I don't mind, but I'd really like to at least have it explained how it was done; I want to learn to do this stuff myself as much as I want to get the sprites.  Shy

  • 11/17/17--11:18: Coraline Wii ripping
  • Hi there! A couple of hours ago I had ended ripping video and audio from Coraline The Video Game extracted files.
Now, I want to rip some interface sprites, but I don't know how to do it. I think that they are encrypt in some of .wii extension files. Are there any way to decrypt those and extract necessary files or discover what archive contains sprites data?

I also apologize for possible mistakes in my text, my native language is not English.

It's been a while since I got back to this, but I am now going over my book again. A while I showed the main star of the book to you guys while advertising my book, and as it turns out, you hated him, and I could tell why. There was no connection between his species and his role in life. His excessive kindness despite his life made just as little sense. The only thing that really ballanced the character out was the fact that he's used in more-or-less an action setting that not only starts out a complete and total weakling, but REMAINS a total weakling from beginning to end. I had writen one big book, but decided to split it into two, and years ago I fleshed out the first half of the book, even changed the cutesy species to things that relate to their story more to give them more symbolism, but going back to it, I see I still have work to do before I am ready to consider trying to get it published somehow. One thing is I've been trying to flesh out the main stars. So... here's the new and (hopefully) improved cast of Benny and the World of Mythica, which will from here on out be known as Gaidens of Monstrum.

    Main Character: Benny Jackdaw
Benny has now been changed into a giant rat, as it fits his life of squalor more than a pink unicorn rabbit passed off as an almiraj. ...And by "Giant Rat" I don't mean an anthropomorphic rat, I mean a gigantic, ten-foot quadrupedal rat. In addition to changing his species, I'm also trying to add some more to his character. For example, he's kind around his friend Conan, but is quite bitter about his life, and often goes on rants about his life. In addition, he has a bias against fat creatures, as he blames them for famine. Being a quadruped, it's also difficult for him to grab stuff since he doesn't have oposable thumbs. For this, he relies on his friends help. If his friends aren't there, he generally struggles for several minutes trying to do something.

    Best Friend: Conan the Construct
For this redesign, I looked to none-other than Frankenstein's monster, as I wanted a someone misunderstood creature to represent an ugly, yet gentle creature like Conan. I'm still trying to flesh this character out, though. Like Benny, he's a fairly poor creature with no real magical abilities except he's fairly strong. Though he hides behind a very slow-talking voice, he's actually quite smart. ...My problem is I'm not sure of what kind of character flaws to give him to flesh him out.

    Villain: Kazek Monocorn
That's right, now Kazek is the almiraj, and he's closer to a proper one, though in this world, true almiraj's are rare compared to their more populous subspecies. Kazek's a sly creature, but likes to think of himself as a genius, and his ego works against him. My problem, though, is that this feels a bit generic. One big thing about him is the fact that he goes around acting like he's evil without a motive: that he's a true psychopath. His motive for mass murdering creatures, however, turns out to be deeper than he lets on, though it's not hinted at till the end of the book, and it's fully revealed in the second book that I'm working on after I'm done with the first one.

Main Female A: Patricia "Defylar" Monocorn
The wife of Kazek who married him out of pity, and her reason for marrying him may shed light on his true motives. She's a nosey creature and somewhat annoying, but has a lot of admiration for Benny. Her biggest drawback, however, is one of the reasons she likes Benny, a creature who appears to be "large-footed." This is me trying to take a risk with a character flaw by adding a fetish to this character. as it's something I feel like I've never seen in media, though it's restrained in the book, as this isn't shoved in your face and, usually, is only hinted at until it's eventually confirmed late in the story.

    Main Female B: Gahjira Amirun
She's actually based off two things: She's a large cat with two tails, so she's part based off of a nekomata, but she is also associated with the Lithuanian goddess of fire, Gabija, who also is associated with cats. As such, the species in the book, known as Bijimata, are fire-magic specialists. Gahjira seems like your standard Obese Cop trope, except she's a no-nonsense cop who can kick butt and has powerful magic. ...Which might be why I'm not happy with her current state. While I want her to be a compitent creature, I'm not sure about a flaw for her yet. Perhaps a tendancy to corrupt justice and/or follow laws blindly?

    Other Friend: Fleet the Dragon
Originally all dragons in my book were anthro. Now Dragons are split into two catigories: Half-Dragons who are anthro but less adept at magic and Full-Dragons who are strong in magic, but are quadrupeds like Benny. Fleet is a slightly bird-brained creature, showing acts of clumsiness and slight stupidity at time, and often acts as a comic relief character, but when he puts his mind to it, he can be compitent as well. I kind of dislike characters who just exist as comic relief, so I want Fleet to be more then that. Fleet, compared to most Full-Dragons, has fairly weak magical abilities limited basically to just your standard firebreathing ability. I can't say he's a Gary-Stu, yet I almost feel like Fleet's a bit... generic.

Supporting Cast A: Trenton the Winter Warg
Trying to avoid plain anthros, Winter Wargs in this book are an anthropomorphic mix of wolf and polar bear, often excelling in water/ice based magic. Trenton is a creature who's cold magic is about as strong as Gahjira's fire magic. Trenton is slightly cowardly, though, and while not an idiot is also slightly slow in the mind. His cowardice shows when his "long-time friend" Branton comes into the picture.

Supporting Cast B: Madison B. Jules
He's a variation of a Tanuki I made up that borrows features from Red Pandas, including a gigantic tail that helps balance out these forward heavy creatures, who'd have a hard time standing without it. He I feel like I've made some progress with. He's a somewhat grumpy creature, and while he's charitable, he is somewhat bitter about parting with so much of his money to help out other creatures. He is especially bitter towards Benny's cousin Herman Jackdaw who is ALSO rich, but refuses to spend money on anyone but himself. Herman I feel like I still need to flesh out.

Supporting Cast C: Branton the three-headed warg.
This creature's based off a legend I feel I don't need to explain, but is a polar opposite to Trenton. Branton's three heads all have their own personality, the middle one being very cold and cruel, another head being a bit loopy, with a final head being sly, manipulative and yet very cowardly and decietful. In fact, it's the third head that basically acts as the brains of the whole creature, though he can only control one arm, where the center head controls the legs and the last head controls the remaining arm. They are a creature that relies on each other to fully function, but they don't get along very well. ...Yet something about this character still feels... generic for some reason.

There's even more characters in the story, but there's too many to list. Like I said, I got the book mapped and writen out, and a rough draft is complete, right now I just need to make some adjustments to the story to give it more fluidity, creativity and quality.

  • 11/18/17--09:32: Hello!
  • Hey, I'm Enzo.
I've been here for a while but back when i was 11 I was uh, a bit of a cuck.
Basically I ignored the rules and was an asshole to people.
But i've changed, and now I'm here to actually be a good part of the community and not be a dick to people.

So first, here's a bit about myself.
    I'm 13, I make art in Blender 2.79
I like the typical weeaboo trash like vocaloid music.
I also enjoy games with good soundtrack and plot
    Like Danganronpa or Persona.

I hope we get along here!

Hello all I was wondering if there was an easier way than going one by one to each file and downloading them? Can I not download a whole file of models?

  • 11/18/17--19:19: Stepping Up My Game
  • I don't really feel like I've done too much on the site this year, and I plan to change that. I've got a massive backlog of projects that need to be finished, and I haven't had time to do them until now. I'm also planning on branching out from doing just audio rips to doing both models and audio, the thing is I'm stuck using free software for now, and I haven't quite got model ripping down just yet. I've planned several game rips planned for next year, and if any of you out there are already doing them or want to do them tell me, I don't want to have to compete with anybody, and maybe I can join in on the project if needed.

So far, I've planned out working on the following PC games (I don't know how to rip consoles)

    1. Killing Floor 2
    2. Finishing every PC Neptunia game.
    3. Paladins (provided no one else has already done it.)
    4. God Eater 2 Rage Burst
    5. Monster Hunter World
    6. Fairy Fencer F Advent Dark Force (if I don't kill myself after the other projects.)
    7. Depends on what comes out next year, and if I don't quit after the other projects.
    8. Possibly accepting requests, but I'll leave that for another forum, this isn't a request forum, so don't ask. Also I'm not ready to do that yet, but I may put one up next year when I'm not busy.

So that about covers it. I may cancel some of the projects if something goes horribly wrong, like getting a DMCA strike, or me going insane, but I'll try my best to finish them without any of that happening, no guarantees though. Also the games aren't in order, the numbers are just guidelines, that I probably won't follow anyway.

Hello! I want to ask anybody here if you all know any program that rips and/or plays .VOL files because I happen to have a few MS-DOS games like Time Slaughter, The Executioners, etc and they contained those types of files. Here is the MediaFire link that contained the files so you can have a look for yourself.
