Ripping Makai Wars?

Hey, so I've always been just a watcher of this site, and I know Grounder already rips MW sprites, but there's a bit of a delay between each individual update, and I'd like to help in some way, since it is one of the games I love the most!

However, I've been trying all day to figure out how you're supposed to extract them, I've tried the AssetsBundleExtractor, AssetStudio, Unity Studio, and either they give me an error or extract them into "nothing". I did what Fluxux mentioned, if more info needs to be given.

I really apologize if this has been asked in the past, or something like that, I just wanna contribute to one of my most beloved games, even if as Grounder said, very few people actually care about it. I also apologize if this is extremely "newbie-ish" to ask.

Final Sky/Cross Summoner

I've just recently started posting my rips from Final Sky (known as Cross Summoner in Japan), a mobile gacha RPG. I made the rips several years ago, as sadly the game's servers were shut down in 2016, rendering the game completely unplayable. I got a little burnt out trying to get everything organized back when I initially did my rips, and now unfortunately I've waited too long and a lot of the game's online information has been taken down, and only some of it can be accessed with the Wayback Machine.

I have a few questions regarding posting various elements of the game:
  • Has anyone played the game, and for some reason not deleted the data from their phone/emulator? The game used a system in which the data for characters was only downloaded once you reach a point in the game when you actually encounter that character, so I know there's one or two characters I missed out on because I never encountered them while playing. If someone has that data, it would be a big help if they could upload it so I could take a look through it for anything I might be missing.
  • Every character has a full art portrait used in menus and such. What's the preferred method for uploading such things? I was planning on uploading each portrait as a "sheet", even though it's only a single image. I've also seen similar things uploaded as a sheet that contains all (or at least many) of them in one image, but that would quickly become huge since they are full-body images. There's also the possibility of uploading them all in a .zip.
  • I decided to break up the characters into categories based on their ratings (common characters are 2*, rare and powerful characters are 5*), so that there wouldn't be one huge category containing the many many characters in the game. However, there's a handful of characters I have sprites for whose star ratings I don't know, because I either never found them in-game, they were unreleased, or I simply forgot to write it down years ago. What category would be best to upload them to? Each of them are definitely either 4* or 5*, so I could pick one at random? I could upload them to an unknown/unreleased category?
  • Some of the monsters have palette swapped versions in the game. I know these are typically combined into a single sheet (for example, the Disgaea units), but would it be acceptable to upload each one as an individual sheet? And if so, would it be better to put everything in a general "Monsters" category, or something like "Monsters: Wolves" and "Monsters: Goblins"?
  • There is at least one character I know I missed, whom I can see all of her frames in a Youtube video uploaded years ago. Obviously I can't simply take screenshots and post them on TSR, but they could be used as reference. I don't know that I'd be able to do it since it would be a great deal of work, but is it acceptable to try and recreate sprites by hand using such a video as reference? Or, if I linked the video, is there anyone who'd be willing to help with something like that?

Dragon Quest VIII Additional Textures?

I'm currently extracting models from Dragon Quest VIII for 3DS and general facial movement textures (eyes close, mouth open, etc) seem to be missing and I believe they are in the .xbb files, but 3DS xbb extractor won't work on my computer, can someone help me with this?

So far it only has about 100 views, Lets hope it can get some mainstream attention!

I'm going to go nuclear on Doom 3 this weekend (levels and everything), and I have a couple questions regarding site usage.

1) Is it ok to package animations with the models or should I only upload the models and textures?

2) If somebody has already uploaded something and I think I can provide a better version, what should happen? (There are already some monsters posted but they don't have rigging. Is rigging even wanted here?)

Also I apologize if this is the wrong section to post this.

Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games 3DS model Rip

I'm trying to rip the models from the 3DS version of Mario & Sonic 2012. I was able to extract the cia's files, but now I'm having trouble trying to open the .cpk files. I wanted to rip the models and upload them here since I've notice no one has ever ripped them before. If it helps I'll post a picture of the files I got after extracting the .cia file.

I don't want to ask anyone to rip them for me, but being pointed in the right direction would be cool.  Cool Tried looking for some .cpk extractors, but for some reason they don't seem to work for me. Or maybe I'm just not using them correctly.

Unable to extract/open OBB file for Final Fantasy Dimension 2

Hello,

As mentioned in the title - I have the OBB file (appox. 300mb) for Final Fantasy Dimension 2.
However, I cannot extract from the OBB file.
When changed into a zip file, I get an 'corrupted' message.
When I change into a 7zip file, it just doesn't open. No messages whatsoever.

Can anyone help me with this?

Hi, I'm taking a fan dub project to translate a game to Spanish. 
 
The name of the game is "UNDER NIGHT INBIRTH ExeLatest" and we are planning to change to originals audios for the ones that we had recorded. We discovered that in this page were the audios of the game already extracted, but we don't know if there is a way to change the audios of the game.
 
In case of anyone know about any program or technique to do this job It would be helpful.

Fixing ASH tool (.ASH0)

The ASH tool to decompress ASH0 files crashes with the files in My Pokemon Ranch (and likely other games too).

I found a repository where a guy recently got the original source of ASH tool from crediar (link here). Unfortunately he couldn't get it fixed either.


I found something that seems like the official ASH decompress source in the Wii SDK, named DemoAsh.cpp. Unfortunately it's intended to run on the Wii itself, and I'm having troubles doing the proper BE->LE conversions.

The official ASH decoder source can be found here. I've added some tweaks to make it compile under Visual Studio.

I would appreciate any help on how to get this thing working.

The import script is still a work in progress but i have succeeded at least in getting the trainers to extract. There are some position/rotation issues with some meshes that i'm still trying to figure out and some textures aren't extracting correctly. It's progress at least and i hope to have it in an uploadable status eventually.

I got a few files, some of which contain Japanese text and some of which contain names of other files, after an initial XOR step but I couldn't make heads or tails of whatever the next step should be. It should be some kind of compression, since it squeezes some of the intended dialogue a few bytes down from what they otherwise would be in UTF-8, but at other times it replaces a number of bytes from the dialogue with the same number of bytes, which I don't see the point of if it's intended to be compression.

I'd be grateful if somebody could tell me what this compression method might be.

(Included the original files before the XOR step, in case the compression happened there - though I doubt it, personally - as well as some of the text the two files should contain, and an initial attempt from me to compare the differences in bytes that didn't really go anywhere.)

I was looking at custom sonic sprites and saw expanded versions of sonic 1, CD, 2, and Mania. I think it's time for Sonic 3 to deserve the same treatment.

Here is the first set of sprites.

How to extract Team Sonic Racing textures!

Hey all!

Team Sonic Racing has recently released, and I've figured out a simple way to extract texture files! I've only tested this method on characters so far, but I assume this method will work for stages as well. Also, you won't get any filenames using this method. 
The "cpu.sp2" files in each folder seem to be used to assign names to extracted files. If someone ever makes a tool that uses these files, this method will become obsolete. This is only an early method before someone makes something that is more convenient.

First, you'll need to download X-Ripper.

Next, you'll need to select a file to extract. If you're looking for characters, they are in /data/characters/. Stages are in /data/levels/.

Choose the file ending in "gpu.sp2". Now, choose to only search for DDS files, or else you'll end up with a large amount of corrupt TGA files. 
Now, all you have to do is to is choose where you wish to extract the files and press the "Start searching" button.

And there you go! You've extracted the texture data! All you have to do now is open the files in any software that can read DDS files.

Like I said before, a better method will probably come about later, but this is an easy way to do it for now!

Reuploading pending submissions

I have a bunch of submissions awaiting approval - and in between now and the time I uploaded them all, I realized I made a big mistake when I was saving the files. All of them got resized somehow, completely ruining the pixel art.

I just went through and edited each one, uploading the correct images. And while my pending list displays the correct dimensions for each image (the dimensions of the new upload, not the initial one), if I click to display the sprite sheet, it shows me the old image! Is it maybe a server cache thing? Is it a problem that the correct file I uploaded has the same filename as the old one?

I might be worrying over nothing, but I just want to be sure my submissions are correct before they get approved Smile
