Hello there, folks! I'm John_B and I'm happy to now be a part of The VG Resource forums!

Well to start off with... I've been wanting to try my hand at trying to extract (or "rip") models from games... Maybe even sprites if I find the time...

Anyway, I'm also a bit of a self-taught\still-learning VFX artist, and am also practicing 3D character animation...

So yeah, that's pretty much all I can think of at the moment, hope to learn some things about model as well as sprite ripping from this community.

I started off just making portraits and then turned into a Luigi's Mansion project, mainly because of the Gameboy Horror

And a quickly put together test mockup screen

I imagined a top down view on Luigi at first but then quickly got carried away with a side scrolling sprite.
Anyway figured Id post this here after my long hiatus, would like to hear what you guys think.

Gamecube Ripping Help

Hi! First of all, my name is geoprimedonna and I am new here. Second, I would like to rip some characters from the game Starfox Assault (specifically Fox, Krystal, Slippy and Falco for now), but I need some help with this: I got lost when seeing the .iso's content and I don't know which one is who or what. I do not want to use 3D Ripper DX, but what could I do instead?
Please help!

I know LittleBoygos ripped some character models from Fortune Street for Wii, but they never got submitted. Well, I got to the archived thread, and I tried to download a model, but the file was deleted from MediaFire. Can someone reupload the models, please?

Help ripping from J-Stars Victory Vs .pak files

I'm trying to rip the character models from J-Stars Victory Vs, but I'm kind of new at ripping from PS3, and I need some help. I was able to get the .iso, extract it, extract the .cpk files, and now I'm stuck with a bunch of .pak files that as far as I can tell are a lot like .bin files. If someone could give me some help, I would greatly appreciate it. If needed, I can upload the file partition for the models. Thank you!

I JUST got into sprite ripping - I've been contributing to The Cutting Room Floor off-and-on for the past few months and it kind of naturally led into this hobby. So! I've learned a lot by reading these forums and the main website's tutorials, and I wanted to contribute, as well. Smile I'm looking forward to learning more!

"Calling All Mixels" models

Well, I know other mobile games that are similar have been ripped from, so I need someone to rip all the 3D models (at least those of the characters) from Calling All Mixels. I need them so that I may use them in any future projects of mine.

Thanks.

I was wondering if anyone could help me rip the models from TOTW:RM3

I extracted the files once (though no longer have them)
but couldn't get them to work because they were a format I had never used before.

Hey you all doing this fine morning (er afternoon, depending on where you are).

I'm a spriter that typically lingers on deviantArt, but decided to see what this place is like. While I usually post Fakemon sprites and other Pokemon related stuff, I figured this would be a better place for just pixel art in general.

As far as projects go, I'm currently working on a Pokemon Fan-game called Pokemon Cinder and Foam. I work on the sprites of the Fakemon and help out with some of the designs. You can find more about it here: http://pokemon-cinder-foam.deviantart.com/

Other than that, that's pretty much it! I look forward to meeting some of you and maybe getting soome help on sprites I've been doing.
Until then, cheers! Tongue

Hey ya'll.  I've REALLY wanted to get into this style for awhile now, so after some practice, I decided to try out some characters in the style of Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story.  I know there are some people who sprite great in this style (not sure if they are still around), so I'm hoping to get some feedback, if only a little. So I got this game Sportsfriends the other day that's supposed to be playable with any controller. But I CANNOT get my 360 controller to work. went to download drivers the developers said I should install, now the center light does even stay on where as it did with before. I can go through steam with it, but as soon as I open up the game itself, it's like the controller doesn't even exist anymore.

Extremely frustrated and need help!

I quit

This place is just not helpful at all. I can not post art here cause there's no post that's suitable for posts involving artwork. In other words, I'm leaving this place for good. This is the last time I take suggestions from people that somehow back fire on me.

Dizz, again, I am sorry for being a jerk to you. Now, I must ask you to close down my account. Im never coming here ever again.

Do you remember this

Sprites/Models in YouTube Videos?

$

Hey all, I've had this question on my mind for a while now...

Is it safe/okay to use models and sprites from here on the VG Resource in videos online? I enjoy 3D CGI character animation and I love to play video games, so I thought it'd be very entertaining for others if I combined these two together and made videos with them...

There are channels online I see (some with a very good subscriber count) that actually get monetized through YouTube and other networks that actually make sprite animations, but also use 3D model rips sometimes...

I would NEVER think of monetizing or making a profit off of the videos that contain these sprites/models if I didn't have the rights to the games these models come from...

So what's the deal? would it be safe to make VFX shorts that use these sprites/models so long as I don't monetize them?

I think it seems pretty safe, what do you think?

Hello guy !!

Well I discover your web site by searching sprite for making video .

I really enjoy sprite vidéo because you have a real freedom to create what you want.

Iam beginner with this style and it is really hard to make a sprite video.

I will appreciate all technique you want to learn me.

Thanks !!

Hello!
I recently released a shmup I've been working on for quite a while. It's called SASOD.
It's a rather classic shoot 'em up where you fly around and shoot stuff and collect powerups and so on.

FISH!

Hello there, I am new to this forum and I have been fiddling around with pixel art during the past couple of days and decided to start out small with some fish/creatures to find to right sort of fit for me. Here are three sprites I did while attempting to get a similar look to another fish. I will admit that they are pretty bad but I would appreciate some feedback as well as some pointers to guides to make them better, and if anyone wants to give them a small touch up to teach me a thing or two I also wouldn't mind. I only attempted to shade the first fish since I feel as if they were coming out a bit "wrong". I want the light source to strike from the top. The green fish seems to have a bigger pixel size which in my opinion makes it look more blocky but whenever I try to set a larger pixel on grafx2 the pixels do not align into a perfect row or column, they intersect and create 1 pixel gaps.

Games You Couldn't Beat

I'm not sure what sucks worse: getting to the final stage just to have to give up there, or being unable to beat a early stage and not seeing the rest of the game.

Either way you don't win! Sad

Here's some games that beat me:

The Adventure of Link - Link's adventure ends in the 2nd temple.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz - Ultra Heaven 5 'nuff said.

Sonic SpinBall - I get the final stage (and sometimes even Eggman), but I lose there every time.
(I did beat the GameGear version tho)

Mercury Meltdown Remix - Gave up trying up to beat all of the levels, let alone with the extra stuff to do on them.

Basically every Megaman game besides the 6th one, for some reason.

Animal Crossing - How do I win? Surprise

Zelda Four Swords Anniversary - I would gladly use a Super Guide on the 3rd Hero's Trial stage.

Cave Story - Just got too hard. Cry

Super Mario Sunshine - I refuse to use a guide for the Blue Coins.

Super Mario Advance - Find Yoshi Eggs because it's fun, right? WRONG!

Fire Emblem - Maybe playing Fire Emblem from the very first, NES game wasn't such a good idea.
