Ripping models from a PC game...

Hello,

I'm trying to rip some 3D models from a game from 2000... it is called "Trouble on the Tracks" and is a Thomas and Friends game. It mainly consists of (from what I can see) .gsf and .gas files in the "GFX" file.

Any help on how I can rip the different engines/buildings?

It is a hasbro interactive game

Thanks,
TTM

Hey all, Anexenaumoon here, I'm a new member and while learning how the GBA engine runs (through ASM etc.) I've become interested in some sprite ripping myself. How do I upload a sheet? Can someone direct me there? Thanks Smile I hope to make new friends on here on this great community!

Beginner here, help?

I have some spritesheets that are already on the site but I have more to add/errors to fix. I see how to submit new sheets, but not editing ones. What should I do?
Also where are the blank sheet icons?

Shemp.....A work in progress.

For my newest spite attempt I thought it would be interesting to post my progress as it develops. As I consider myself a novice at rendering sprites I feel that this is a good way to show my approach and thought process and as always, any pointers, tips, critiques are always welcome. Please note that if I have violated any forum rules I sincerely apologize as I am new to this also.

That being said, my latest attempt was inspired by watching classic Three Stooges comedies and I realized that Shemp has, to my knowledge, never been represented in any Stooges games. The classic line up of Moe, Larry, and Curly are the representatives. I thought it could be fun to have a Three Stooges game with a selectable "third stooge" to represent each era. I used screen grabs of my own game play and ripped the images from them to help me proportion my rendering to size. I use several images for reference (the one for side view is attached to this post), mostly to render Shemp's head and to see his whole body in proportion to Moe and Larry. I noticed that Shemp is taller and thinner so I began by making his head two pixels higher than the others and rendered his head using my reference as my guide and adjusting to fit the sprite style. I have just started rendering his body, as seen in the attachment, here for all to see. Again any pointers, tips, critiques are always welcome.

Just added my latest progress!

Genesis Emulator for Vista

Apologies if this is in the wrong thread; I haven't been on this site for a long time.

Hey there, everyone! Big Grin

Yesterday, I was thinking about ripping sprites from Sega Genesis/CD/32X games (Wanted to add a little variety to my sprite ripping Wink ), but I was wondering: does anyone here know of a good Genesis/CD/32X emulator compatible with Windows Vista, preferably one that I can rip sprites from? You see, I was going to download Gens, but I read online that it can cause the screen to become distorted if it's running on Vista.

So, does anyone know of such a compatible emulator?

Looking for Pixel Artists

I'm looking for pixel artists for a game using the engine I posted in the Game Development section.

I'm going to launch a Kickstarter around June, but I'm paying for content for the introduction of the story.  The introduction will be provided for free to help build interest in backing the project.  This means that the artists I'm looking for will work on both introduction and full game.  No work on the full game will be expected if the project is not funded.  We will negotiate how much you need to work on the full game so that I can include the cost in the project.

I would prefer two artists so that work can be split up.  I would probably divide it into environment and character/effects as the two major sections, but there may be other smaller categories that will need to be included such as UI components.

The game engine is primarily inspired by Final Fantasy 6 mechanics, but the game isn't meant to be a sequel or fan game.

The preferred sizes are as follows:
Map tiles will be 16x16.  Characters will be within 16x26 (16 is max width, but height can vary depending on the character).  The screen resolution will be 640x480.  Backgrounds, enemies, and effects are only limited to the screen size.

Sizes could be negotiated if you feel that 16 pixels is too limiting, but most things need to be tileable and would be best if it was a power of 2.

I currently have an author that is writing the introduction.  His name is Gregory A. Wilson in case you want to see who he is and what he's been involved with.  I created a rough draft for him that will provide most of the information for what will need to be created.  Greg will provide a re-write of the introduction by April 3rd at the latest.

The theme for the introduction area will be Arabian.

Either post here or PM me if you have questions or are interested.

Sonic Lost World - ACB containers. Need Zeena's voice.

I plan to use them for a fan project of mine, but I cannot for the life of me rip from a ACB file.

I'm able to rip the 5 or 6 AWB files, but they only contain the music or the "announce" files (when the Zeti taunt Sonic while he's chasing them) But I'd like her battle sounds (grunts and maybe cutscene voices)

Please, and thanks.

Squishy Rex's Sprites

Apparently I forgot that I made an account ages ago, so I guess I better put it to use. I'm Squishy Rex, some of you may know me from the SMBX forums or MFGG. I basically sprite whatever I can from the Mario series as you'll see below. Most of my stuff is completely hand-drawn, some do include heavy edits etc., however my main concern is, I'm just not quite hitting the target when it comes to shading. I know what I'm supposed to do, but it doesn't always look right in my eyes, so I'd appreciate any feedback or tips and tricks that anyone might have to offer. My main style is SMB3, or at least that's what I'm aiming for. Finally, feel free to use anything you wish, for whatever you wish, as long as credit is given, be aware though that some things are still WIP and may be unfinished or subject to change.

I've thought about it, and...

...I think I might stay on this forum for just a little bit longer.

And not just in the Resource section, but the whole forum in general.

When I decided to leave, after a while I felt that it was a stupid decision, so I've decided to return.

Are we being DDOS'd here or something? The forum has been off and on all day and I swear I saw "970 guests online", Christ.'

EDIT: wow, over 1,200. But the forum seems stable again. Weird.

thread posting question

i want to post a thread to recruit people for my game but i dont know where to post it. does it go into commissions, requests, or game development it seems to me that it would  fit equally well into each of these catagorys.

the reason i dont just put it in game development is because all the game projects i see in there seem  to be  just updates to the readyness not requests for  man power so i just wish to check if thats where i put such requests.

UMvC3 Sprites and Sounds

This is going to sound really weird and oddly specific, but whatever.

I'd like somebody to rip the menu graphics from Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 depicting the different kinds of evidence that Phoenix Wright can pick up in Investigation mode.

I'd also like the English voice clips for Phoenix Wright (and the Judge in his hyper combo), She-Hulk, and Deadpool.

Dissidia/Duodecim/Action Game Animation Rips

Hello VGR community,

I was wondering if anyone could direct me on ripping animations from Dissidia. I have seen many lovely rips of the in game models but I am mostly looking for the animations. I have Noesis and a UMD copy of Dissidia. I have been successful in ripping from FFVII and FFVIII but I cannot seem to locate the animations for Dissidia.

The reason I am specifically looking for animations you ask? I am currently working on recreating the Dissidia style combat system for programming/game design practice.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, everyone! I was able to successfully rip the sound effects of a few of the boss creatures from The House of the Dead 4. Cool If anyone's interested, Here is a link to the Dropbox folder which has the SFX .rar files.

So far, all I have ripped is the SFX for the Empress, the Star, & the World, but I can add the SFX for the rest of the bosses if anyone wants me to. Just let me know.

Enjoy them and tell me what you think! Smile
