With the blessings of Ton and the fact the Egg compo has come to a close may I present this months Sprite Competition.

SPLATOON!

This game is going out near the end of the month, and I thought it'd be cool if VGR had a sprite compo based off this highly new Nintendo IP.

The rules are simple, make sprites based off the characters, locations or anything from the game we've seen in the previews, Directs and Advertising, edits are allowed but they gotta be A-MAZING.

Here's some inspiration to jump start your brain into thinking of ideas!

So, what do you think of this as a feature, do you find that it adds to your experience or takes away from it, and if you happen to have a character you've made that you're particularly proud of, would you mind sharing it?

Good evening all,

So many many many many moons ago I was here a lot and often working on sprites and such, since then I have been working as a web designer and then developer. So now I am working on web apps with some angularJS, and some fun things with animation with SVG graphics. 

Was wondering if any one else here had interest, work in that line of work as well and want to chat about things, up coming trends for example or even just chit chat. 

why aren't game disks affected by scratches?

i have a luigis mansion disk and its really scratched up but when i play it NOT A SINGLE glitch missing model messed up texture or anything but with dvd disks just a few scratches and somewhere it will freeze i just dont get it!

this rom packed models in a .dpk file,i can't rip the file.i has been try capture models on game,however GA,ninja ripper and 3dx riper are useless. anyone willing help? great thank to you

Found some details about how to rip them on an old thread need to work out one last thing. . . how to get the script to run in blender lol
I use Maya by deault so all these other 3d softwares seem crazy to me.

Models with Multiple Textures for one obj HELP

So a friend of mine gave me all of his models for twinsanity (not giving them away yet he doesnt want them to get out till there rigged for gmod) and they have multiple textures for a single object (when loading the .obj file theres only one mesh) and there is textures for the leaves which need to be transparent and they have multiple textures can someone help me? he told me about it having material ids but since there is no mtl file and also 3ds max is a bitch (he saved them in 3ds max) and wont load the material ids I am screwed so pls help me Smile

Hi there,
I'm James. I'm writing a comedy show for the Edinburgh Fringe. Part of it is to do with video games and I'm trying to put a pixel sprite of me into a SMB3 for the NES.

To make it playable, I'm assuming that all I need to do is to recreate the sprite sheet here but replacing Mario with a version of me.

I already got some help on making some sprites from E-MAN on this board who did a superb job.

What I need now is to know.
a) Whether those are all the sprites I need to create
b) what format they need to be in to put them into SMB3?
c) Whether there is anyone on here who can help me edit the ROM to put them in there. I expect I'll be playing the game with OpenEmu.

Any advice, greatly appreciated.

Cannot submit model (getting error)

I just created a section for a new game on tMR (which correctly shows up as pending). My problem is that when I try to submit an NPC model I ripped, it does not accept my upload, and it tells me "Error: Model must be a zip archive.". I've tried compressing my models with both WinRAR archiver, and Windows' built in compress folder function, both producing vaild .ZIP folders. No matter which I try though, the uploader still will not accept my model. Is the site not working correctly, or am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: Nevermind, it appears to work fine when submitting with Chrome instead of Firefox.

I was surprised to discover that there was no spritesheet of windjammers game and, although i know how use winawaks and rip sprites, it's a lot of work and i do not have time for this.

So I would pay someone to do this, someone who has already motivated and creates good quality spritesheet.

M&L: Beanbean Circuit Revival

So about 2003 I was part of a group working on a Mario Kart style game using sprites from the M&L series (You can read up about it here). Long time ago I know, so this is sort of a revival of that concept (ish). I say ish as this is not really a project that I intend on working into a final product, but instead is a project I am working on while learning about the technical side of game development in HTML5 and javascript. However I thought if I made something while I learnt that it would test skills and hopefully someone would find it of interest.

So there are a few differences from the game prior, thought I would show off some screenshots of the build to highlight them.

The previous versions were sideview, while interesting I did feel that tracks would loose some of that karting feel, so they are 8 directional and allows for more typical Karting play.

I really want to take across some more elements from M&L and not just the art style. Attacks and elements will most likely come from the series as a whole.

RPGs tend to be about battling bosses so working in a similar concept as well. I'll go into more detail when I have a build complete and or video of the build created.

So yes that really is all I wanted to show off right now, hopefully more to follow as I get a chance to work on some things in my free time. Oh and of course thought I would mention that I plan on this being open source so if folk are interested in things they see they can have a look at the code but being the first test project I doubt it will be all too advanced to devs.
