Strange normal maps?

So I have some models I would like to upload but the normal maps look like this?

I want to rip lots of content from Bayonetta and Lollipop Chainsaw. I've looked on the XNALara forum and DeviantArt group, and most of what I find are Bayonetta and Juliet's various outfits, with very few characters who AREN'T Bayonetta or Juliet. There are countless characters, enemies, bosses, weapons, items, and props left un-ripped from both of these games, so I'd like to rip them myself.

Only problem is...I don't know how to hack into Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 games. I've looked for tutorials and resources on these forums, and I haven't found a single tutorial for either of these systems, and the only Xbox 360 resources I could find are for Halo only. I did, however, find a resource for viewing and ripping models from Unreal Engine games, which will help me in ripping content from Lollipop Chainsaw (the site even said that it's compatible with everything in that game except for "Stat", whatever that means).

Could anyone please help me out here? I would much appreciate it. Wink

(And just to let you know, I own Bayonetta on Xbox 360, and Lollipop Chainsaw on Playstation 3.)

Planet 51 wii game sound ripping guide

I finally figured out how to rip sounds, voices and music from the wii game "Planet 51" since it uses FMOD sound bank for each sounds. The sounds folder is located between "Scripts" and "SpellsManager" in the iso's files and they contain the fsb sounds.

BRRES-Format: Wrong Textures?

I asked this question before in the tutorial thread a week ago, but there was no response, so i'm asking again, just in case my original post got overlooked.

I have converted a brres-model from 'Animal Crossing: City Folk' to md5mesh and psk-format with Brres-Viewer, but when they are opened in Noesis, the textures look messed up on some parts. How do i fix this?

Hello everyone,

I am relatively new to the sprite scene, I know many of you here are veterans, and would probably have a little bit more insight than me on this matter. I have a question that has been bothering me for quite some time, it is:

Why do some people say that using too many shades of a color is not a very good idea?

I remember hearing something like "If the shades are too similar to one another, they blend in too much, so just take it out". I know there are different views and opinions about this, and I respect everyones say. I know there are all types of art styles and techniques, and my post is not to critisize one or the other. I just want to hear people's opinions on this matter.

Also, I am sorry if I am bringing up a topic that has been brought up before Sad I couldnt find any post that talks extensively about this matter. I want to start manking sprites for games that I will make in the future, and I would like them to look like many of the great games that came out for the 16bit consoles.

On that matter, here is an example from a Chrono Trigger sprite that I think looks quite good. I studied it and found that there are so many different shades they used to make up the piece of art.

I wanted to learn this tecnique, so I made this, its a little piece of grass. I used the same shades as them.

I just thought of a possible answer: It is ok to use many shades when the object is really far away? But use less when its a close up?

Began animation. Looks a bit awkward right now, but It'll probably look better with more detail.

Though, for some reason, I can't get enough impact on the blow... Sad

Also, I know the size of the blade varies a bit per frame, I'll fix that later.

Hey guys looks like I'm alive after all. Subscribed to too many forms to keep track of and I guess I forgot this one existed. Anyway on with the things.

Oh yeah, only posting a few recent things. I'm on my phone right now so it's a pain to flip between tabs in this browser. Copy paste isn't easy either.(running a custom Rom, it's a bit buggy with a few things)

Pite is my sprite-ripping alter ego. He rips things (and also re-rips things that were ripped poorly). He already has rips on tSR. Here are Pite's rips:

My first rerip was the Pokémon from Silver version, who were not put into a 56x56 box and also discolored. I ripped these a while back, but I went back and ripped some Japan-exclusive sprites that weren't on the original sheet. I'm fairly certain these are all the Japanese sprites, but in the case that I am wrong (which happens from time to time!) please let me know. (Also all Kanto sheets will feature version art of Mewtwo while Johto sheets will feature either Ho-oh or Lugia depending on version.)

You'll also notice that even though there aren't many Pokémon I still divided the sheet into Kanto and Johto. This makes searching tSR more convenient! Imagine you want to find Kanto Pokemon; my earlier sheet wouldn't show up. If you searched "Pokemon" you'd have to wade through all the other unrelated sheets with "Pokemon" in the name.

So I was working on a simple beat em up engine in Game Maker using Double Dragon as a basis, and I felt like spriting some stuff for it.
Not sure if this project will be going anywhere but some c&c would be awesome!

I am working on a metroid hack and I'm changing the title screen.
This image here I am showing, I want it to be on the title screen.

My only gripe its abit to big I need it probably 48x48 and in bitmap format so that yy-chr wont blur it up while pasting.
I am using corel paint shop pro x3 to do most of the graphic work.

If someone wouldn't mind could you please shrink this down and make it a .bmp 16bit 4 color format ?

Hanshin Tigers DS models

I recently stumbled upon some NPB-based game for the Hanshin Tigers, which runs on the Nintendo DS/DSlite. The only two models I'm trying to rip are the team's mascots To-Lucky (male) and Lucky (female). One problem is that all of the data is compiled into a .dat file, which is in a completely different format, which doesn't use a .cue file. Can someone please help me with this?

Sonic fan game: Sonic Burstflare

Sonic Burstflare is a 2D sonic game.
FEATURES
-Genesis physics mixed with modern Rush-y physics.
-Adventure like story, play as 6 characters with unique abilities, and support characters.
-10 action packed stages, 20 bosses, and a whole bunch of extra levels!
-Classic power ups, all shields including a new one.
-Two versions, a "mini version" for weaker computers, and a "normal" for fast computers.

I have no screenshots yet, but this thread will be added on with each update.
HELP! I need some sprites, if anyone can help...

Hey there!
I've been making quite a lot of rips for my own fan-game projects, usually never to be seen by the public, so I decided I should upload some of them for the rest of the game makers there!

I'll start with some sprite rips from Arcade Raiden 2!

I noticed just while ago that Raiden 2's MAME doesn't have scrambled sprites anymore! While the game still doesn't work, the sprites look pretty, and I've always loved Raiden games! ^^

Raiden shows someone's fetish to programming and spriting, and has quite complicated sprites. I tried to include some explanation about usage of the sprites, but if it's unnecessary, I can remove it.
This is also my first submission, so if something needs to be changed, please do tell!

I'll continue up with some fire and explosion sprites next, once I get the sheets ready.
