WiiWare Ripping Help

Okay, so I've been trying to get sprites for Mega Man 9 and 10, as I said in a previous thread, by ripping open their WAD files with ShowMiiWADs. The problem is that whenever I do so, instead of getting the necessary image files, all I get are BIN files I don't know how to use. Anyone mind lending a hand here?

Weapon Alpha

Hello, VGresource! Today I would like to share a project of mine with you. It is a platform game in the same vein as Megaman and Metroid and the like, we call it Weapon Alpha. The story is set in the year 2525, in an era where man and machine work side by side. These robots that have independent thought and reasoning, and a lot of them are tired of being pushed around. Enter a mysterious robot named Alpha, promising them freedom if they fight on his side. The age of man is over! You take the role of Valo, a young mechanic caught in the middle of the initial rebellion who goes after each of Alpha's Commanders and his human allies before squaring off against Alpha himself.

The game is being made in game maker 8.0. Levels are a bit open ended, meaning there is only one exit but there a multiple paths to get to that exit as well as find hidden power up points and other goodies. Your main attack is an overclocked welding laser. Holding the fire button emits a continuous beam that stretches the length of the camera view. It cannot go through most enemies or any walls, and it will over heat if you fire it for too long. Should that happen you won't be able to shoot until the beam cools down again. You also will be able to activate a super run for backtracking faster and being able to jump over larger gaps by double tapping left or right. Hidden throughout the levels are battery cores, collecting them will let you allocate one more point to powerup section of your choice; Power(deal more damage per second), Shield(take less damage), Cooling(overheat the beam less quickly and cool-down from total overheat faster).coughalsoyoucandoublejumpcough

Unfortunately, I'm not far enough along to give you an outright demo exe, but i do have a few development gifs, and I'm trying to have frequent updates to show, so please check back regularly!

I'll be posting more updates as they come. Currently, I'm pushing to get the movement and beam code in working order, and ill release a little break the targets game as a demonstration of that. If you would like to contribute tiles, sprites, coding help(this one is a big one ;-; ) or anything really, i would greatly appreciate it. If anything feedback as i update would be extremely helpful as well. Thank you guys for your time, I'll have an update soon! If you have any comments or concerns, feel free to ask.

Program to rip sprites?

0

I've been trying to rip sprites from SMB3 SMAS after a rip that someone claimed to be the full one; even if it was missing a small pack of tiles that I am now ripping myself using the method of taking prints from the game. But I've seen some SMB3 hack videos and they showed the use of some underground slope tiles that doesn't seem to be used anywhere in the game; and TCRF also doesn't list them as unused tiles, oddly. I am still a little unsure wether that could be just something made by the hacker. So I want a program that can take sprites directly from the game ROM or maybe even a SMAS hack program which I can't seem to find anywhere around. Thanks if you answer.

Retro Fps - possibly RPG? - open for suggestion

Hello ladies and gentlebutts,
I'll start off quick, with this,
Retro Fps Base built in my own Jam engine,
[Image: CdfmOyv.png]

this is my retro fps base, a little messy in the code, but I'm cleaning it up as I type,
W, A, S, D - move
Up, Down, Left, Right - look
(I am working on UI elements at the moment, first on my list is pause and options, so you can remap the controls and set the display modes, the jam engine does have fitting modes ready, it was started as a pixel game engine)
My inspirations are xibalba and Delver by Priority Interupt
I'd played Delver before but I wasn't very good at it and personally didn't agree with some of its game design choices, xibalba I came across 2 days ago and it got the theme jammed in my head "this would take my life away with rpg elements", remembering Delver I decided to take the 2 games as inspiration for a project, a project which will also help me expand my Jam engine (I intend to use it during Uni, in place of the courses 1st year software GameMaker)
I have 2 Goals set for myself,
1) to expand the Jam engine with encapsulation, self-maintenance, webgl saftey and quick, easy use, in mind, with an end goal of being used for rapid prototyping
2) to create a retro fps experience with all the tender loving crippling addiction of a perpetual rpg, including an engaging world, ridiculous levels of power and ofc the retro fps secrets to put a cherry on top.
INTENDED LIMITATIONS!
each tile consists of 2 32-bit flags, though due to how javascript works, while in memory they are 2 64-bit floating points, the first 32-bit flag contains a ceiling height for each corner and ground height for each corner, the ceiling is cosmetic, the ground is physical, the player may not climb any ground a unit higher than themselves, the second 32-bit flag contains texture indexes for, ground texture, wall texture, ceiling texture and floating texture (is a wall from ground to ceiling, non-physical, useful for aesthetic and hidden passages)

EDIT: the room currently shown is a 64 x 64 map, end goal is for 4096 x 4096, with region loading and unloading

I'm open to suggestions, at the moment, all I have in mind is, big psychic robot man conquering an ancient kingdom of atlantic-like technology and magics... okay so thats kind of a lot in terms of setting, but mechanics and how I will implement them are very much free to suggestion
thank you for reading

Hey everyone!

I've been considerably busy this past year with senior design and stuff, and I'm finally in summer break until September.

I have an internship Monday through Thursday, but I'm hoping to hang out here when I have time outside of work, running and testing video games. Smile

You may see the occasional rip as well. Tongue

How to Rip from Angry Birds PVR files

So, yeah, another ripping help thing.....
This time I really need help with the Angry Birds (Series)
PVR sheets.
I think they may have something to do with archive things, though.
So, if anymore ripping tools come to mind, please tell me!

PS: No PVRTexTool or Texture Packer because:
Texture Packer's Installer won't work correctly.
PVRTexTool crashes when I open them. (3GB of Nothing!)
Here's a link to one of them:http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=05194593287991735477

What the difference in model ripping between 3DS games?

0

What the thread title says. I would really like to know how 3DS model ripping changes depending on the game where the models are to be ripped.
I'm mainly asking this because it irks me that Super Smash Bros for 3DS has model rips, while an older 3DS game like Bravely Default has absolutely nothing at all.
Would really like to know. Thanks in advance!

Since everyone is in a Fallout 4 tizzy, maybe we could look into dumping the graphics from the new official Fallout Android game? It looks to have some decent graphics and might excite some people.

Nowadays I'm ripping Street Fighter II sprites and stages and miscellaneous stuff for a Street Fighter II Warehouse Blog (with strategy guides and also videos and homages too).

I used Kawaks for the Champion Edition versions of the stages and characters, now the question is.

What is the best emulator for the other versions?

Salutes.

Hello, folks!

I'm soon-to-be seventeen years old guy from Croatia who's hobby is developing games (in Java). I've been programming since I was twelve, but I never really finished any of my projects. I haven't learned much because of my past mentality, but I know a lot and I've learned a lot these past months. A few months ago I finally completely finished a game so I can call myself game developer now.

I always wanted to create retro-style games, but I never took the time to actually learn pixel art so I searched and searched the web for a few months and never could find a website that provides complete packs of ripped sprites from old games until today. I thought I'd have to settle for the other website that I used for downloading free graphics. So, this was a major discovery in my life. Hereby I want to thank the creators of this beautiful community!

Well, my other hobbies are working out, cycling, loving my girlfriend... and... yeah. Oh, I have a new hobby now - interacting with this awesome community.

Spider-Man 2 .WAVs broken, and I don't know why

0

I followed some instructions I found, and ended up with .WAVs of all the sounds from the proper Spider-Man 2, where you can go anywhere/do anything one. Ya know, one of the greatest games ever? I wanted the "I'm walking here" and things for... reasons. Anyway, I couldn't get the proper PS2 version, but found a PC one. Changed a few extensions, unzipped a few things, and got these .WAVs. Some of them work (I narrowed the ones that work down to non-human made sounds - gunshots, door, cars, that kinda thing). However, the rest just stop after a few milliseconds. I know that all the information is there, because I managed to get a file converter online to convert a few of them, but that had a limit, and none of the others seem to work. When I'm on my proper laptop, I'll see whether I can upload a few files to show you what I mean.

Thank you!

Ineed help on figuring out the rest of the format. The only thing I can't figure out is the keyframe data, and that is the last bit of info I need just to convert these into FBX format or into a txt file. If anyone knows any hexing, that'll be really grateful! Anyways.. here's my data so far on its format, and some omo files I can hand over. I talked to TGE like a month ago, and he told me he'll make the script once the keyframe format is figured out.

People who helped me with the header section:

Creating a Language, how hard can it be?

0
0
so exactly what it says on the tin, I would like to try and invent a language in the interest of an engaging game universe of which I've been theory crafting for a while but have yet to write up (which I should probably do before I forget characters names, families and so on)
I do not understand as much about linguistics as I should for attempting this so forgive amatuerity and by all means if you wish to feel free to engage in the crafting of the language, it'd be a great help.
Now to my understanding the base of a language should be the means of its writing and or speaking, its syntax in using and its alphabet, for which I have an idea but not much to go on.
I'll begin with its alphabet, inspired by a very lack-luster knowledge of romanized eastern languages and a hint of inspiration of compound wording from german, I propose an alphabet consisting of tiny words with a suggested but not always intended meaning, depending on the context, I'll throw together some here as an example, hpefully we can refine it to make more sense over time,
With this in mind I think the language should have an emphasis on Names as means of giving context, you could accidentally say something is to drive crazy, but mention by name a vehicle and in doing so make the same words carry a meaning of to drive unsafely, etc.
Code:
Writing (romanized sounding) - Isolated meaning - Grouped implications
Ci (see) - Light - to be large or powerful or righteous, good or more literally of Light
Tau (tow) - Hand - assisting, involved, physically or figuratively part of something
Bu (boo) - Home - to belong, be part of, to have built or to be harbouring
Utc (oots) - End - to finish, to kill, to leave in darkness or forsaken
So this is just an example I expect a better understanding of the language will result in a better vocabulary, but a few example words to show my meaning,
Code:
Writing (romanized sounding) - literal meaning - interpreted meaning - name
Cibutau (see-boo-tow) - the great help of the home - the strong support of the home - a home guard
Ciutc (see-oots) - the lights end - a righteous end - a martyr
Untcbu (oot-boo) - to kill home - to betray - a traitor
a bit of context to the city in which this takes place wouldn't hurt I suppose, its not completely necessary but if you think it'll help feel free to read it, also apologies in advanced, I need to work on my writing skills, I can think up a story fine but writing it down isnt my strong suit.
Thank you for reading, hope we can have fun with this,

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS File Help

0
0
This time it's about Smash.
I downloaded the decrypted version of SSB3DS and looked through everything.
The music was there, SFX, and then... there was this giant 700mb file called 'dt'.
Simple as that. No matter how many times I renamed it, nothing could extract it.
Anyways, I deleted the game of my computer. I'll get it again, but I really need help.
I can't upload that! Did you see the size?!
The file had no extension, no program could open it!
But some people (specifically Ploaj) know how to open it, because I clearly saw
'Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS' in Spriters Resource' 3DS section.
So help, please!
I'm trying to gather as many resources as possible!
