Hi everyone.

I've been trying to rip some brres models, but the actual models do not have their textures on the same model's file. The textures are on a different file.

How can I merge both files? Or is there a way to import the textures to the model's file?

Hi everyone.

I've been trying to rip some brres models, but the actual models do not have their textures on the same model's file. The textures are on a different file.

How can I merge both files? Or is there a way to import the textures to the model's file?

background removal help

I've been ripping for a long time and the process of deleting the background from a sprite (actual background, not a block colour) is what uses up 90% of my time. After all these years, there must be a program out there that I can give a specific set of colours to, a palette, and have it remove all colours that are not in that palette from an image.

That is what I need to get my sheets into a usable state. I've not uploaded a single one as I lose motivation before finishing. The backgrounds are killing me...

But you'll be getting my Guardian Heroes, Unlosing Ranger, Vandal Hearts, or whatever else sheets. Some of the sheets are depressingly over 10 years old. Any help you guys can give on finally letting me complete these sheets would be great. Thank you.

PS: Is there a program that can detect when an image is stretched, and shrink it? Again that feels like it'd be incredibly easy to make, and should have been made several times over by now. No searching has given me results for either program though.

So I'm working on remaking Splash Hill Zone from Sonic 4 in a 2D style, which can be found here: http://www.vg-resource.com/thread-29192.html

But I've hit a road block... Those leaves! I just can't get them to look right whether I start from scratch or use a base. I was wondering if someone might be up to helping me out with this tree and the cycad like plant?

Pokkén Tournament Model Ripping Project

Thanks to the combined efforts of Sammi-Husky and Dantarion (with a starting push from CHEMI6DER), we can now get at the files from Pokkén Tournament / Pokémon Tekken! Since the model format is practically the same as Super Smash Bros. for Wii U's, it didn't take that long for me to write up a model importer.

You'll want both the model files and my MaxScript if you wanna join in on this. I've already put a few claims on things I'm planning to rip myself, but of course anyone else is welcome to join in (if not, I'll probably rip everything else myself at some point in time). Also, I would recommend scaling the models up to 5000% size (the scale I'll be using for my rips) since they're originally really tiny.

or someone could rip the sprites of the game for me? because I wanted to use them to make a game rpg maker.

Game Design: How Much RNG is Too Much RNG?

Another one of those big game design conundrums we developers must face.

For the unware, RNG is an acronym for Random Number Generator.  When talked about for games, it's referring to the randomness of whatever aspect of the game.

There has to be some aspect of randomness involved to make more unique situations and progression, and keep things fresh and unpredictable.  However, there are several instances in several games where players feel cheated out of their victory, simply because the RNG prevented them from succeeding.

A couple of examples I can provide are...

The Janken Mini-Game in Sonic Advance.



I didn't show it in this video particularly, but the potential for losing because of the RNG should be clear.  It is entirely possible, and has happened to me quite a few times, for the panels in hand to all end up as the same sign.  If all that remains are panels with signs that win over all of yours, if you only have those 3 panels left, it's a forced RNG game over.

Puyo Puyo series.



Of course, competitive active puzzle games like Puyo Puyo, Columns and Tetris just to name a few, are rooted in RNG to some degree, where the dropsets are randomized.  The good news is all active players are subject to the same RNG dropset (except in Tetris Friends, which is stupid).  The bad news is, the potential is very high for it to never give you the color you need when you desperately need it, even if you have a good setup prepared for counter attacks.

What can developers do to offset the random factor with the player skill factor?  Is there any way to have a game rooted in randomness and not have it feel entirely against the player?

Strange file Format(Game Cube Files)

So recently, ive began trying to rip game data off of my gamecube games, and I was specifically looking for model files. What I came across was file format called ".fpk". Could someone explain what this file format is about?Is it animation files, model files, or just data variables? (Some extra info is that I was looking at "Bloody Roar: Primal Fury.)

Played around with posing on the red guy, so I'm concerned as to how that went.  Girl was less ambitious, but I still want some feedback on it.

Figured i might as well try an rip the second game as well since i did the first a few days ago.
But apparently the tool i was using for the first game doesn't work with the sequel for some reason.
An since i didn't make the tool (an i forget where I got it from) 
I was wondering if anyone could take a look at it.
