What are the tools to extract .Dat and Dtt files?

I would like to extract Nier Automata files to .wmb so I can import them into blender, but I'm having a hard time trying to find tools that allow me to do so.
I've looked on the forum and have tried some tools but they don't seem to work for me.

So far I can/have exported CPK > DAT via noesis so I'm just stuck on getting DAT > WMB. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

I wanted to make a sonic rom hack that changes the sonic sprites , but I cannot find a toll that is easy to use. I tried useing Sonik Sprite, but the tool’s script file was missing. You can post links to this, And by the way, I am using a windows computer.

PRS files in root: particle and effect textures, PRS may have been used on DC.
SET/BIN files: Stage layouts

Objects are included in the archive for every instance they're used (so stages that use the same items have duplicates in their folder).
This is likely what resulted in some cutscenes using Dreamcast models and others using higher-poly ones.

"Sound Effect files are stored in the files with SE in beginning of the filename.

The files with EH are for the Emerald Hunt hints that come from the monitors. The MH files, if memory serves, are for Omochao and monitor hints in levels.

All of the SET files are files that place objects in a level. If you're familiar with SADX modding, they're the same thing. SA2 just happens to use them for a lot more stuff than just objects.

All stage data is stored in STG file names with just the stage ID attached. The _FOG, etc, files are for handling other aspects of the stage.

All character data is stored inside any files with a character name in it and MDL also in the filename. Here's a list of all of the character files.

RIPPING STAGE DATA :

MainMemory's SALVL can rip level geometry.
The issue is with things like enemies that store data making use of the Ninja format's cache.

I suspect that some enemies like the Artificial Chaos Units may actually not use skeletal animations.

EVERYTHING BELOW THIS POINT IS MISCELLANEOUS, PERSONAL RESEARCH, AND/OR SPECULATION

Sonic Adventure 2's shadows on Dreamcast do not use the same LANTERN engine as Sonic Adventure 1.
Certain areas have prerendered shadows (trees in City Escape, and the bridge in the limo cutscene).

The Dreamcast was the only console to support Order-Independent-Transparency on the hardware level.
This means that it could load a series of transparent items without much problem.
The GameCube did not, so places requiring transparency (for the most part) had to have textures edited or changed.
Texture fighting can be seen on Super Sonic's body and when Dr.Eggman shines the flashlight (the windshield appears over the light).

Character lighting is duller and less detailed that the Dreamcast version, likely because of hardware differences that could make the same shading difficult to implement.

In the file resource/SHADER/win32/obj.pak, there are several WPU/WVU files.

According to YouTuber Darío, the same file format is used in Generations for the same purpose, and can be read using the Windows SDK.

"Done by carefully implementing the WPU/WVU files from the game. I had to crack all the related shader files to get the right indices for knowing which registers to pass the parameters to and what shader to use in the correct occasion. There's quite a lot of inaccuracies and non-working shaders due to not having implemented most of the buffers / parameters it needs just yet, but this is what can be previewed so far. The WPU/WVU files were disassembled to HLSL ASM with the Windows SDK."

I believe that it is actually a very similar format, not just the same extension, because the PC version actually repackages Windows DirectX (graphics) libraries.

The (Generations) shaders say "Generated by Microsoft ® HLSL Shader Compiler 9.29.952.3111"

Looking up HLSL Shader Compiler returns only source code for converting HLSL to .DIRECTX shaders.

THE WINDOWS SDK:
I saw no mention of shaders, HLSL, or the WVU/WPU format on Wikipedia, but here's the SDK:

POSSIBLE METHOD FOR OPENING MODELS:
Programmer Rich Whitehouse has created a program called Noesis (I think the name means something like 'enlightenment' in Greek, not sure) that apparently supports the Ninja Chunk format. It is open source, but I have yet to test it.

Extract PS1 models from files .MDL and .TER

Hi.

I want to extract the models and terrains of a PS1 game, Muppet Racemania. In the ISO there are individual files for each model. Characters are in folders called "CHARS", and each have two files with extensions .ANM and .MDL. Terrains are in folders called "COURSE", and each have three files with extensions .DAT, .RAW, .TER. 
Is there any method to extract the models from these files?

I have noticed that the game "Toy Story Racer" has the same structure of files and folders. Both games are from the same developer, Traveller Tales.

I attach here 5 example files: 2 from a character and 3 from a terrain.

Has anyone had any luck ripping content from Blade Strangers? Unsure on if it uses 3D models or not, but I wanna get the Curly Brace stuff from it either way and I'm trying to figure out how.

Hey all,

I was looking through Blade Strangers and found the files where it's sound effects are held. They are in wav format compressed in RARC files. Some might recognize this name from Nintendo consoles such as the GameCube and Wii, but this isn't exactly the same type of compression. 
I have uploaded a RARC from Blade Strangers and one from Animal Crossing (GameCube) as samples and to show the differences between the two.

A few days ago, I downloaded the model of Peach, from the Nintendo 64 version of Super Mario 64. Clicked back on that game's page today, to download Unagi, when I saw that the Peach model is gone. So unless I somehow downloaded it from another source (doubtful, don't remember doing that - I use models resource for everything and the file where she downloaded is named EXACTLY like how models resource files are saved) she's disappeared. Likewise, I can't find the Bowser model in that game, although I'm not sure if that one was ever there.

Have some models been removed from that game's page, or are Peach and Bowser simply on their honeymoon?

[TUTORIAL] Ripping Sonic 2 HD Sprites

You will need :


-binwalk https://github.com/ReFirmLabs/binwalk or use apt to install on Linux
-Sonic 2 HD
-Patience
-(Optional) a hex editor (GHex, Bless)

STEP 0 : Build and install binwalk
    apt-get install/apt install for Linux
    
    Windows or building from source (see step 3 for opening CMD):
    python setup.py install    

STEP 1 : Find the sonicorca.dat file. This will most likely be in the 'Data' folder in your Sonic 2 HD folder.

STEP 2 (optional, this is to find files) : Open this in a hex editor (you will notice that there are PNG headers that say ".PNG"). This is how I found the file type for the sprites.

STEP 3 : Open Terminal/CMD - in Ubuntu, right-click, Open Terminal Here.

In Windows, select the file path at the top of explorer and then type cmd.exe

Alternatively, press Win+R, type cmd.exe and use the cd command to get to the directory.

STEP 4 : Run binwalk --dd='filetype:extension to use' input file.dat (for PNG files: binwalk --dd='png:png' sonicorca.dat)



STEP 5 : Organize - the files will be in _sonicorca.dat.extracted, and named their address. Every sprite in PNG format will have been extracted. Notably, only part of the Tails sheet is in PNG form.

STEP 6 (optional) : Enjoy! If a game has unused files, that just makes it more fun to rip from. See: The Casino Night Zone and pixelated Sonic & Tails.

Note: the zlib archives are how the PNG files are compressed and are left by binwalk for the sake of structure.

To delete them:
CMD > del *.zlib
Terminal > rm *.zlib

9 Mbps MPEG2 at the worst.
"4k mkv" doesn't mean anything either. If you mean UHD BD source, then that's h265 which is a bit harder to decode than codecs which came before it (but not really a problem for new hardware). But 4k is just a resolution (an annoying colloquialism for a resolution, but that's for another day) and mkv is just a container. It could contain any number of video codecs at any number of bitrates which will all have different performance characteristics on different hardware. But all that's irrelevant for DVDs which could be decoded by anything made in the last 20 years.
