Kirby Fighters ... Z?

I thought this was interesting news. They're releasing the Kirby Fighters minigame from Kirby Triple Deluxe as a standalone downloadable title in Japan ... with a bunch of extra content including more abilities, alternate cap styles, more stages, more modes (including one where you fight a bunch of Dededes), team modes (2vs2 or 3vs1), special items you can only use as a team, and possibly some more stuff they aren't revealing yet.

They're calling the product "Kirby Fighters Z" and there's no word yet if it will be released outside of Japan, but I hope it does:





Additionally they are also releasing an expanded version of the rhythm minigame with extra features called "Dedede's Drum Dash Z":

Neither game requires you to own a copy of Triple Deluxe to download, but it sounds like you will get bonus features if you do.

I'd like to get some 3D models of my characters done, and possibly rigged for gaming, if anyone is able to do so. I'm starting my offer at around 80$ per character, but I'm willing to negotiate prices depending on how much work it would take.

The style I'm looking for is something like TF2, where the characters are sort of smooth-looking but not overly-toony, and have those semi-sharp edges on them. They don't need any advanced shaders or super-detailed textures, just something that would look well if put into a TF2 map.

I'd like the final product to be in .3DS format, but if you can also provide a Source Engine .MDL, that would be fantastic.

Basically, what do you think of it when a game throws in slots, roulette, blackjack, and craps like that? I personally don't mind the inclusion of things like this, but they're usually necessary to unlock certain things or complete quests/achievements, and frankly, that's a problem for me, because I'm gonna about to learn how to play a game to play a game in my game.

Consistently corrupted models

I've been noticing a number of models, specifically for the Digimon Masters game on PC, are corrupted upon loading them in 3DS Studio Max, why, I have no idea. Digimon such as Leomon, Lilithmon, etc have the right side of the models completely stretched out and made impossible to rig

So far, I've been unable to contact the original uploader, ChakraWarrior2012, to discuss alternative solutions. What can I do about this? I don't know why this is happening, and I do realize that mistakes do occur, but why hasn't this mentioned previously?

My seven rules for a perfect action platformer.

1: Tight controls. No slipping or immediate loss of momentum or long stun periods, and especially no having to wait through a character's animations before the action you called is performed.

2: Readable environments. A player should never be able to lose themselves behind a foreground piece, and elevation should be immediately recognizable.

3: Reward exploration and achievment, not patience. Grinding for upgrades is a cheap way to increase play time, and does not feel as rewarding as discovery or victory through skill.

4: Enemies should require thought to defeat. If a single technique (that is method of attack, not the attack itself) can effect everyone, then that's all a player will use, and play will become repetative.

5: At least three ways to attack, but not too many. Three gives enough variety to a player without overwhelming them.

6: Backtracking, if available, should be rewarding, especially in games where this is a requirement.

7: Teach new concepts in as few words as possible (and for Myamoto's sake, don't repeat item-get messages or hold them for seven seconds. I'm looking at you, Super Metroid).

These are my rules to perfect action-platform GAMEPLAY, meaning they don't apply to story, music, pacing, or theme. I've only ever seen a few games follow these rules entirely, one of them being Spyro: the Eternal Night on GBA.

...has it seriously been more than 2 years since I last posted? Geez. Embarassed

Yeah, I've been busy with other things lately and I think my motivation for sprite ripping dropped after doing the Titenic sprites. Not entirely sure why, it just happened I guess. Over my long break from this forum, I've tried to make a few more sheets in my spare time and I've never had a chance to release them until now.

...then the FC proto for Monster Party came out. I don't know how but I got this kick to start ripping sprites from both versions of the game. (Although I see someone already beat me to the punch with some of the bosses but at least I got the enemies. ^^Wink I come back and I'm pretty amazed at how this site has changed. I figured I might as well start up a feedback topic and I hope I can stick around longer as well!

Let's Play - Shin Megami Tensei/Digital Devil Story (SFC/SNES)

Today I'll start my first Let's Play, with Shin Megami Tensei. It's also the precursor to the Persona series.

It's a game I've wanted to play for a while, and discovering Aeon Genesis's English patch has made me finally decide to give it a go.

It's a game which takes its premise from the novel Digital Devil Story by Aya Nishitani: demons invade our world through computers, and using your computer is a pivotal aspect of the game, allowing you to communicate with demons, checking the map, etc. It's a first person role playing game, like an old-school dungeon crawler.
One could say this game is proto-Pokémon, but its demon-aquiring system is a bit more intricate: you can bully, seduce or buy a demon to your side. Once they are in your party, you have to sustain them with Magnetite, and summon them for a fee.


Anyway, let's get started!

America is in need of reminding who the Real American Hero is, and it's up to you to show them. Who is it? You decide! They don't even really need to be American (!?) - just be considered a hero to America. The definition of this is down to you. Rambo? Hulk Hogan? SUPERMAN!?

While the rules are pretty loose, please be aware that the judges will consider the Americanism of your choice. If they believe that the character isn't particularly notably AMERICA then you may lose marks.

Entries can be any form of pixel art that you desire - large static images, animations, single sprites, etc.

Rules:
One entry per user.
Have fun!

The winner will be decided by a panel of anonymous judges in order to keep biased voting to a minimum. Entries that will receive the participation badge are limited to entries of particular note, being of particular high quality, but that did not fall within the top three rankings. In other words, in order to be judged (or just counted as having participated), your entry must be at least near-completed and have actual effort put into it. A crappy drawing or very unfinished WIP will not be counted as participation. You have 20 days to work on your entry, so make sure your entry is something that you can realistically finish within that time limit. You don't have to use all 20 days, of course, but they're available to you if you need them.
Only entries submitted through the Competition thread will be considered for judging. CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT ENTRIES.

It's that time again, ladies and germs. The 'Central' is officially back in business!

As per usual, each of the rips shown here is always checked, primed and (Most of the time) with every sprite from the data. Sometimes, one sprite or two may end up slightly different from the original source, but you can be sure the differences are always minimal at best.

Yes, yes, I know it's a double post. I just need to address a few things about this rip.

DESCRIPTION
I just went and gave its weakpoint away with that quote, but oh well.
Anyway, this tank usually stands in your general vicinity firing semi-homing rockets at you. Most of the time, you'll find them with a Tempered Shield mounted on the front for additional armor, as these things aren't quite that durable on their own.

Of course, even that isn't enough to protect them(And the rider) from a well-aimed 'nade lob. You'd think installing a second shield above the cockpit would be a smarter option.

COMMENTS
Ayayayayaya~ this was one doozy and a half. To begin with, the initial tiles batch was a bit of a pain to assemble at points, so I ended up taking some of the sprites via snapshots. And then there's the extras.

...Oh yeah, forgot to mention that. The sheet also includes a set of sprites exclusive to MS4, sorta like with my Bradley rip from long ago.
In Mission 5, there's a blue-colored Melty Honey(Known as the "Metal Crow") which can be hijacked. Like with the Bradley, its sprites are edited Melty Honey graphics with some new animations.

Some of which were an outright pain to obtain.
Anyway, those sprites were recolored and edited to match the rest of the sprites. Which once again basically amounted to "Replace the entrance hatch", go figure.
