free software for ripping

im atempting to rip sprites from medarot g but my free triel of jasc animation shop ran out and i cant find anouther copy of it anyware free or otherwise (i dident have the money to by the full version anyway.). so i was wandering is there any freeware i can use to substitute for jasc that anyone knows about.

About
I'm creating a sci-fi, top-down Space exploration game. Currently in what could be considered as pre-alpha, I have begun work on controls and physics. I'll keep track of major progress on here and will update this topic every now and then when interesting stuff happens. I am coding the game in Game Maker 8.1, which is a really decent tool if you know how to properly use it and it's coding system.

So today I was thinking about how present day commercials for Kirby games are quite dull in comparison to the ones that were on TV in my youth. ...aaaand then I decided to make a topic as an excuse to post them.

So how about it? Show us your favorite (or least favorite) video game related commercials of yesteryear. ... or even present day ones, whatever floats your boat.

hello i was wandering does any body know anything about what medabots/medaparts do in the games. medabots wiki only knows about a portion of them and its not very well maintained dont get me wrong great site and informative but alot of profiles have either no info on what the parts do or the profile is non existent. afew i have been really curios about are Shinsaber/whitesword, primitybaby/babbyblu, grain/gryphon and dark wizar (this last one was never translated so only 1 name on it.). if you happen to know anything about these medabots or others that no one bothered to give the info for to wikipedia please tell me im a huge fan.

viewtiful joe a classic in my mind very well done addictive game play enticing and interesting characters fascinating villens and very good humor that dident feel shoehorned in like some games .

it was also super origanal with the vfx abilitys and the puzzle's were often very hard but in a way that just kinda dared you to figure it out so you would wanna solve it even if it frustrated you.

personally i think that viewtiful joe could stand anouther sequal its a very interesting consept and can be taken in many different ways easily. id go for using joe and silvia's kids then they could totally reboot it and it would fit into the movie theme viewtiful joe uses but thats just me.

what do you guys think more viewtiful joe?

how would you take the series if you had the rains?

what kinda characters or enemys would you add?

The Battle For Bikini Bottom Project

We already have a good number of models from the GameCube version of the 2003 platforming classic SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom, but I feel that we need all of the models from the game. We still do not have:

* All but two of the bosses; the missing include the Robot versions of SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy, as well as the Jumbo Prawn.
* Nearly every common enemy except for Ham-Mer.
* A good many items, including Golden Spatulas.
* All but two of the game's worlds, and one is only present in part
* And assorted generic characters.
(Any I'm missing?)

And so, I have decided to start a Battle for Bikini Bottom ripping project. Currently, I am trying to find where the character, enemy, and item models are located in the game's files, so I can convert them. Can anyone help me out? Question

as you may or may not be aware there have been a few advances the fields of vr tech that finally make true home units possable still expensive but you dont need to be a billionaire to get this stuff. mind you they havent combined these advances yet and the resulting unit would still be fairly expensive for a home unit but doable for the middle class. the advances i refer to are listed below with the end price of a functional full emersion vr unit. so if you want to skip over the list feel free and then give me your thoughts on vr consoles

first and probubly the most well known the oculus rift

for arms and hands you would need the control vr(actual product name) http://controlvr.com/ a current highly advanced motion tracking controller with hand and finger tracking. while being much cheaper then other equally advanced options used in cg animation.

but if you want full body movment then you would need the http://www.priovr.com/ a full body motion capure system.


the next advance is in the area of force feedback so BEHOLD THE NOVINT XIO http://home.novint.com/index.php/products/novintxio although not available yet if funded it could revolutionize gaming being able to feel the weight of and feel of things in the game world is a huge advance.

but your going to wanna beable to run and jump in the game world to right so thats where the omni vr multidirectional treadmill comes in. http://www.virtuix.com/ its smaller and less expensive then previos vr treadmills by several thousand dollers and actually will fit in a relitivally small space like a bed room.

ok if you sat through that good job go have a cookie now i will break down the price of a bare bones vr system

oculus rift head set currently 350

vrcontrol currently 600

omni vr treadmill 429

it would cost 1379 not including the hard ware to run the games so plus the gaming hardware lets estimate it to about 1500-1600. still pretty expensive for a home unit but as an arcade peice or something in a hotal or something i can see it working and makeing a ton of money. at least untill prices go down enough to make a home version. but 1600 is still pretty good considering previos vr units of equal quality made a few years ago would cost millions and take up a whole very large room.

so what do you think think vr consoles are the next big thing in gaming

I'm wanting to update my Icon for Meta Knight for Kirby: Squeak Squad. Problem is, I don't know how to change the Icon once it's been accepted. I don't want to put this in the Errors Section, as I guess It isn't an error. Anybody know how to change their icons.

I'll be brief

• I know very little html and css and stuff
• I need a blog. well, it's going to be a finnish satire news site, but the framework is essentially the same as any traditional blog would be (categories/tags, recent posts, facebook/twitter integration)
• I've got a host, a domain and a mysql database
• I have a CMS, wordpress to be exact, but only because it's the first thing I could come up with. if you think drupal/perch/whatever is better for this purpose, I can ditch wp and install that but only if you can give me proper reasoning on why they're better for this purpose
• It needs to work on mobile devices too, so it's either gotta be a responsive site all the way from 1920 to 320. or have a separate mobile theme
• I have detailed plans of the site layout in photoshop

I'm trying to rip from that game while using the tutorial of Playstation 2 model ripping, however 3DS Max is giving a error of vertex too big.

Any idea to solve it?

Zoids Saga DS Ripping Project

Please read the entire first post before adding sheets.

So when I was ripping from Zoids Saga DS: Legend of Arcadia, I realized that the game was simple enough and had enough sheets left to warrant a ripping project!

Below I will outline the process towards ripping the sprites, where to find them in the game, and all the tools you will need to help.

How to rip:

What you will need:

-Tinke
-Zoids Saga DS: Legend of Arcadia (you will have to find this on your own)
-Any image editing software (obviously)

Steps:

1. Open up "Tinke.exe" and select the rom file in the following window.
2. Navigate to the "zoids" folder and open the corresponding folder for the zoid you are ripping (from the list below).
3. Unpack "z###_i_LZ.bin" "z###_m_LZ.bin" and "z###_p_narc_LZ.bin" by selecting the file and pressing the letter d.
4. Unpack the new file that has appeared from the "z###_p_narc_LZ.bin" file.
5. From here, press p on the "z###_p_narc_LZ_0.bin" file, then t on the "z###_i_LZ.bin" file, and finally m on the "z###_m_LZ.bin" file. This should bring up the sprite.
6. Open up your image editing software, and past the image onto a new document. (Tinke copies the image for you)
7. Repeat step 5-6 for all of the p files to get each of the palettes.
8. Now scroll up to the top of the folder list in the "zoids" folder that you opened earlier, and open up the "cz" folder.
9. Repeat step 2, and press t on the file that is inside. This should bring up a sprite.
10. In the new section that popped up below the sprite, change the "Width:" to 128 and "Height:" to 64.
11. Repeat steps 6-7, using the p files from before and the i file from the previous step.
12. Once all of the sprites are on your sheet (16 to 48 total), add a simple credit tag, and you are done!

Note: Remember to keep your sprite sheet organized. Here is a quick example format to give you an idea

Also, for the sake of icon consistency if you could place the sprites that have shadows directly on the bottom line of the icon space, I would be extremely happy (so there is no blank space between the purple background and the bottom). Definitely not mandatory, just a bit of my perfectionist side kicking in. Wink

Suggestion:

-In order to give enough people time to participate, I would appreciate if everyone (myself included) limits to claiming 5 zoids at a time.
-If you are someone who is either just getting started with ripping or is even have the slightest interest in contributing to the site, I suggest giving this a shot. It is very straightforward and doesn't take long at all to whip up a sheet. Smile

Harmony of Despair Items

Ok so I have been looking into the files for the PS3 Harmony of despair. There is this image format .DDS, Anyway the files I got for the items (which is what I am interested in) looked like this:

.png  icon00_armor.png (Size: 291.14 KB / Downloads: 12)

So through sheer luck I figured out that the hex values were inverted. I flipped the values and I ended up making a sheet like this:

.png  all the items NEW.png (Size: 130.7 KB / Downloads: 13)

It's weird though certain shades of green are supposed to be any color from gray to black. I guess I was just wondering if there was a proper way to view this with the correct colors. Here is one of the files I was working off of: icon00_armor.dds
