I have been ripping a gba sprites and had a question about the Visual Boy Advance's OAM Viewer. Is there a rip all the sprites currently in the OAM Viewer without saving them individually? Or should I just save the tileset?

I am new here... Hello!

My name is SodaPop, I aspire to make decent sprite animations using Flash and After Effects. I'm currently working on a 4 way crossover story (technically 5) between Nintendo IPs. It has taken me a long time to do what I have done so far, and this is my first really decent looking animation series.

I've had quite a bit of difficulty, and I wanted to see who out there animates as well, join up with the forums and learn some things as I go along. I'm happy to be here!

Quick questions?

Hello, I'm rather new to Flash CC and I was wondering if anyone could answer some of the questions I have.

  1. Is there any way to export graphics/movie clips as gifs or png sequences with transparent backgrounds?
  2. What are the best ways to maintain quality and audio sync during preview and render?
  3. What are some time savers in Flash CC?

I appreciate anyone taking the time to read this or answer.

Sprite sheet tutorial?

I'm wondering if anyone out there knows an efficient way to create large sprite sheets, or if there's a program that does it for you (preferably not browser-based). I decided to create my own Fallout sprite sheets for use in sprite comics, but I'm having trouble getting the sheets actually put together -- doing it manually is incredibly time-consuming and tedious, and the one program I've tried (Sprite Sheet Packer, it's called) doesn't seem to want to do large sheets.

This post will serve as an official log for name changes. While members can't directly change their name, you can request a name change via this thread (please don't post anything other than name change requests here though) and, assuming you don't abuse the privilege, I'll change your name for you. This log will be used to help people keep track of who everyone is once names have been changed.

Help sniffing Metal Assault files (Metal Slug clone)

I was hoping one of the wizards here would have more luck finding art inside Metal Assault archive file.

Metal Assault was a nice online Metal Slug clone game that was published by aeria for english speakers, it was cancelled a few years ago, so I wanted to see if some of the nice art in the game could be salvaged.

This is the only container file that the game client has:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/9or36o7e8bav7rg/mas.cvf?dl=0
the other files are in the client are just .dlls and small .exes.

I tried scanning the file using watto game extractor, ravioli game tools and dragon unpacker, neither picked anything.

Aluigi's offzip manages to extract a huge amount of .dds and .tga files, which correspond to character textures and equipment icons, I was hoping someone wise in this stuff would manage to pull out the backgrounds and sounds too.

This post of Xentax:
http://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=6628

has some analysis of the file's structure, and given the comment I guess that the guy was able to unpack the whole thing using offzip; but the truth is that what the guy is talking about regarding file structure completely eludes me, no idea how to use the info for extracting the files.

Any help appreciated.

Magicka .xnb files

Okay so apparently xnb is also a common format for the XNA framework. Only problem is there exist only texture converters and no real model viewers/extractors for any form of them. I've been trying to find a method of converting these types of files into something more useful, to no avail. Would someone mind having a look at these sample files to see if anything can be done?

Top Ten of the Week

Hey guys, I had an idea for a game ... well not really a game I guess; and "activity" we could do, since it's really more of a thought-evoking exercise with no winners.

I'm sure you guys are well acquainted with the concept of Top Ten lists, right? I mean, Youtube and various journalistic sites are flooded with them. So basically, in this thread I will pose a new video-game related topic at the beginning of each week (probably Sundays) for you guys to think about and give your Top-Whatever responses for (they won't always be Top "Tens" specifically).

With the exception of this first one, I'm going to try to avoid doing the really cliche topics that everyone on the internet does, except maybe once in a great while. I feel that I have some unique ones lined up, and if you have any ideas for some that I should do, feel free to send me a PM about it, but I warn you if I have a lot lined up it might be a while until I actually post your idea (unless I think your idea is super awesome in which case I might skip the line).

Anyways this first question is kind of cliche but I feel appropriate considering it's the beginning of the year and I surprisingly haven't seen this topic breached in the forum as of yet:

What are your Top Ten favorite games you purchased in 2014?

The games don't necessarily have to have been released in 2014 (for example if you're like me and you're too poor to buy games as soon as they come out), but try to stick to relatively recent releases; I'd say 2010 and forward are okay. Re-releases count, as long as they aren't games you'd played before. You don't have to have personally purchased them, if your parents bought it for you or you received it as a gift, that's okay too.

By the way a general rule for all of these: Don't feel obligated to list exactly ten. That's really more of a suggestion. You can post only five if that's all you can come up with, for example, or you can post twenty if you're feeling ambitious.

Fan projects you have a soft spot for/couldn't stand to even think about

Creating and uploading fan projects onto the internet has been a thing more or less since the web has been open to the public. Some of them turned out to change the face of the web by being so awesome, while others receive negative backlash to this very day. My question is what you guys think of certain ones. I'm very curious to see all the compliments and critiques that pop up.

For me, it might be just a crossover sprite comic, but I have been a fan of Game Cheetz for many years now. It provides a very interesting take on the lore of established video game franchises and touches on several other subjects, such as the substance without existence vs. existence without substance. Sure, it's a little silly and convoluted at times (plus, the visuals aren't always the best), but it's a good read overall.
