I'm looking into how the rip elements from the most recent Star Fox games, 64 3D and the upcoming Zero. I'd like to start with the 2D graphics like the character portraits, and eventually grab bigger things such as the models, voice files and such. I don't have much experience, so I could use some pointers.
The 3DS game is my first priority, but I'm not exactly sure where to begin. If I had a way of recording the game footage, for example, I could just screen cap all the portraits in their open and closed positions. I would like to get the files straight from the game if possible. Anyone think they can point me in the right direction?
One more thing I'll note from the Zero footage I've seen: aside from the characters having many more frames of animation, the camera seems to have a shaky cam effect even when the character is not moving. I'm not sure if it's panning around a larger sprite or if the sprites themselves have different angles built in. That's something I'm hoping to look into, but again, I don't have much experience with these advanced games.
