Recent Email Issues

I really wish I had somewhere more visible to put this but this will have to do for now. A good number of you, but current and pending members, may have recently had some issues receiving emails from the site. These could include notifications of PMs, subscribed thread updates, and even verification emails for new accounts. This was all due to an issue sending to Microsoft related email addresses (hotmail.com, outlook.com, live.com, msn.com, etc.). For some reason, entirely out of the blue, our outgoing IP address was blocked by their spam filters. I submitted a request as soon as I realized what was going on but it took the better part of the last week to hear back from them. While the reply they sent was pretty vague, it does seem like email sent to those addresses is being rejected any more so I'm assuming the matter is now resolved.

For anyone who tried to register and never got their activation email, please either contact me or have it re-sent (you can re-send it by trying to log in and clicking on the link that appears). For those who used the contact form to try to find out what's been going on, I'm sorry I haven't responded but as my replies come from the same IP address, they were also being rejected. I have all of your emails in my inbox still though and will take care of those who sent them manually either tonight or tomorrow.

Sorry for the inconvenience everyone. I try to take precautions to make sure this doesn't happen but it looks like Microsoft has a history of mis-identifying spamming IP addresses so I'm not sure this was avoidable. If there's a silver lining, it's that I improved the security and deliverability of my mail server in this process and all of my checks seem to indicate that, short of freak occurrences like this, we should be pretty good email-wise from here out.

If anyone has any questions or concerns, feel free to reply here (or by email if you still can't access your account).

Sorcia - a new 3D adventure game by TFA

Hi everyone.

Since I decided to cancel Super Smash Bros. Feud for copyright law reasons, I figured I'd give my own main indie game its own thread.

I have others planned as well, however this is the "head honcho" of all the indie games I'm planning. I want this game to be to me what Shantae is to WayForward, for example.

I want to introduce you to SORCIA. Powered by Unity 5.

Overview:

Sorcia is my first commercial, serious project. I'm cracking my knuckles and getting down and dirty, experimenting with new stuff and trying to make this not just good, but excellent. In this game, quality comes absolute first. I have lots of ideas for features and the like, but for now I'm focusing on basic playability using my sandbox map, and frills, bells and whistles, and presentation will come later. It is being made in 3D mode in Unity Personal. Once I've gotten a bit of money aside and am able to afford it, I may buy a Pro license. Unless I by some miracle reach the 100K a year cap, which I'm by no means expecting, in which case I'll have no choice.

I'm doing the entire game myself: I'm scoring the soundtrack, writing the source code, coming up with foley and sound effects, animations, 3D and 2D/UI art, etc. You name it. I may sound absolutely insane, but I insist. I want to get comfortable with all aspects. It's going to be long, and a lot of work, but I currently don't have the budget to hire people. And my goal is to be a solo indie "team". All I do need, however, is a voice actress for my protagonist and main villain.

There were only two aspects I borrowed code for, after asking and getting permission: code to handle button input (XInputDotNetPure.dll), and one for creating seamless music loops. I have some basic gameplay roughly scripted (I'm constantly tweaking it to try and improve it) such as movement and camera control, some menu functionality, one song and another nearly complete WIP, and a few sound effects.

Sorcia will be a 3D action/adventure game with elements of platforming and exploration. I'm aiming to make the controls as fluent and responsive as humanly possible. This is why I chose XInput instead of keyboard. It allows more flexible stuff.

Items, unlike Zelda games for example, will be optional and more of a sort of side-quest for unlocking bonuses and the like. There will be weapons, but it's more like using the environment to defend yourself: sticks/stones, etc. Only a few items, like maybe a handful, may be needed to progress. But Sorcia will by no means be an item-heavy game. Nothing is final as of now. All I'm doing currently is art and programming. Story and the main final game world are not yet created nor final.

Progress on this will be on and off. I also want to sing pro as well, so I switch between the two at a whim.

Prerequisites:
One XInput-compatible controller (ie Xbox 360 controller for Windows or Logitech F710/F310 gamepad, etc)

Follow this game on social media.

Only a Twitter for now, Facebook and official site are WIP and currently only viewable to me.

Twitter: @Sorcia_Indie

I'm open to any ideas and improvements anyone has. Wink I will update this when more updates are available!

I hope you like what you see! Smile

(October 25th is the release date, save your pennies if you haven't gotten it already)

This looks very promising.

I can't wait to wear that wonderful elk horn helmet.

Ice sorceries are back. There was some kind of destructo disk miracle shown in the trailer too. I can't wait to see all the new weapons, hopefully we will get a lot of unique movesets and skills.

Updating Files Randomly Stopped Working?

I brought this up to Dazz before, but this problem is still persisting.

I recently updated all of the fighter files on Arena Ultimax, but after I uploaded three of them, it just stopped working.  My browser shows that the file uploads, but instead of taking me back to the main game page with a notice saying that my file was successfully upload, it kicks me back to the individual download page for the character.  I've tried disabling my ad block as well as clearing out my cashe and nothing seems to be working.  Again, this worked for the first three I uploaded, then all of a sudden it refused to work.

The files I'm trying to upload are .zip files, and I'm uploading through Chrome version 52.0.2743.116 m.

Hey everyone, it's me again, Falconpunch! Guess what I'm at this time? You guessed it, battle backgrounds in of course, the remastered version of Romancing SaGa 2! I've only done two so far, but I plan on ripping more, and maybe have a few others help out too, as there are a few backgrounds which have special effects, and I can't rip those.

So far, I've done the battle backgrounds in the Savannah, and the Melu Desert. Here's the pics.

Any opinions so far? Also, I couldn't figure out where to put this thread in, sorry... Unsure

Paper Mario custom sprites

Remember when I made Paper Mario sprites when I joined this site? I do.

Jokes aside, I needed something to do while I wasn't working on my other projects so I got inspired to make Paper Mario sprites. I intended it to become a "Paper Mario in Smash" kinda thing, but, it could go anywhere at this point.

I made two sprites assembled, and one split into parts. Out of the two assembled, which looks better? The plain one or the the one with the outline?

Better Late than Never!

Joined over 8 years ago and have never introduced myself, felt I should do so now. I think I originally joined to share a project I was working on, speaking of which... currently working on a new project that may have need of some people. Feel I should be more constructive on the site before I make requests though, seeing as I want to follow the rules, regardless of the join date.

Anywho, that schpeal over, I am turpinator or turp for short. I like long walks on the b... not that kind of site? Oh.

I am a heavily out of practice spriter, but can still give pretty decent C+C considering my interests lie in art (and storytelling/world-building) and have in the past submitted ripping work to forums relating to Mega Man and Boktai. (don't remember if this is one of said forums) My current interests lie in minimalist art and backgrounds as a hobby.

Pokemon Sun&Moon GSC styled sprites (CONTAINS SPOILERS!)

Hey all!

Been awhile since I've been on this site, I joined a decently while and, well, kinda forgot about this place.
I have been working on pixel art however!  Seeing as how I'm super excited about Pokemon: Sun and Moon, I decided to whip up some sprites of the new Pokemon in the style of Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, which I've been working on steadily since May.

This is my first time spriting in the style so criticism is welcome!

Need idea for how to use a Dell Latitude D400

Unbeknownst to me, my uncle gave us a Latitude D400, a compact laptop computer from 2003 that requires an external Disc Drive....

Its pretty bad, and we don't know the password. I'm thinking of reformating the entire thing to run off of linux, but I can't seem to get a good reference for what exactly this thing can actually do by default. I'm wondering if I could treat it like a raspberry pi.

Why are the colours off? (DS emulator)

Uhhh hi?

I recently taught myself how to use blender... improperly. Basically fiddle with the controls until something happens and when it does try it again and remember how.

Modelling for me is like the final frontier for my hobby, for the past 2,3, or 4 years I've been messing with Source Filmmaker and while its easy to improvise like in Garry's Mod, it feels more satisfying when you have a model especially for the thing you're doing. I've always relied on what models I could find rather than produce for myself. Now that i have basic know how around Blender I've staked a claim on the final leg of the hobby before...

I have referred to the Spriters Resource website frequently in the past 5 or so years but via google images, I never knew it was part of a bigger more elaborate content site.

I'm not the most social butterfly, I'm more of a smelly moth that prefers to hide behind your window shutters during the day rather than swarm toward the porch light.

My SFM movies falter, barely surpassing 100 views in a matter of a month, though I still do it because I enjoy the process of making them. I've recently learned some methods of porting models from "the models resource" to Source Engine for use in my field.

I actually prefer 2D drawing and stop-motion animation. I'd rather be an artist than some stupid animator with an outdated graphics card.

Converting .JTEX (.JIMG) & .JARC (.JCMP) from 3DS Game?

0
0
I'm desirous to translate the mode select icon text for my own use to play the 3DS game One Piece Grand Battle X. But I'm having trouble opening the files to even view them let alone edit them. If anyone can find how to edit/export these then sprites/textures from these games could also be shared here.

A lot of the files from the game are packed in .JARC container files that can be unpacked with this QuickBMS script: http://aluigi.altervista.org/papers/bms/others/jarc.bms

But some of the files are labeled .jarc and can't be extracted because it seems they actually are a .JCMP (perhaps a compressed .JARC?)

I'm pretty sure that there might be menu images inside some of those, but I've been able to find other .JTEX files that actually seem to be .JIMG when looking in a hex editor. I tried using a .jtex converter by Ploaj but it doesn't work with them at all.

I'd appreciate anyone who felt like taking a look at these example files for me.

I'd be happy to find any way to open these files, I'd be okay with a Noesis plugin too if that's easier.

Looking for feedback on Metroidvania project

0

Project is evolving into a Metroidvania title.

Tiles were pulled from cc-0 license resources on OpenGameArt. I recolored them to the palette. The character is 100% my work as is the HUD, door, and sound effects.

Download link:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B49_4X0...sp=sharing

###WARNING###
If you are sensitive in any way to the color red, do not run this game. This is why no screenshots posted at this time. The entire palette is based on reds. I might change this to a autumn/gold palette later.
############

Concept showcases a few things:
-platformer movement
-double jump system
-floaty gravity (game takes place in an object/facility in space)
-laser weapon
-HUD
-chips system (used for upgrades in regular releases)

The gravity system is a bit different than my previous projects, so looking for feedback on how it feels.

Controls:
Alt+Enter for Fullscreen
Arrow keys left/right to move left/right
Down arrow to crouch
A to jump and double jump
D to fire laser
+ increases health by 1 so you can test shield system
- decreases health by 1 so you can test the shield system

Falling out of the room just resets it.

Again looking for feedback on how the engine feels so far. Trying to go for a simple retro feel. Apologies in advance if you don't care for the color palette. :<

[Help] Bravely Second (.BCRES/.BCSKLA)

I have a DecryptedRomFS.bin of Bravely Second. I extracted its files through HackingToolKit3DS. I ran the crowd.fs files through QuickBMS, and it spat out files in the format of .BCRES and .BCSKLA. I have no idea how to extract or convert these. I can provide an example archive if necessary.
