I was hoping that someone else would have noticed it before I did, but I may as well announce it anyway.

Today is the day of Goemar's birth! Being Dazz's equal and the proprietor of another respected sprite web site, I'm surprised nobody wished him this already!

Savestate Request?

Hello folks. Simple question here. I figured out how to rip models from killer7 on an older version of Dolphin via manipulating saves and such. However the part where I go to floor 7 in the hotel of the final mission always freezes no matter what it seems. I was hoping to rip models of Greg Nightmare and the Black Heavens Smiles but considering I can't get to that point myself, I must reach out for help. Would anyone be able to get me to the final save point before the Greg Nightmare battle and I can do the rest?

Explanation: (Click to View)

So with that out of the way... The biggest thing I need some help with is her petal skirt because it doesn't seem to mesh too well at this size (and also would be a nightmare for me to animate). I also feel like she's not quite in-style but I can't place why. Maybe it's just me...

As usual, any C+C of any level of harshness is appreciated~

Kyrodian Legends

TITLE: Kyrodian Legends.

GENRE: Science fiction.

PLAYTYPE: Action, adventure, RPG, platformer.

DEVKIT: XYG Studio.

RATING Teen for fantasy violence and mild language.

PLATFORMS: Windows, Mac, Linux, Pandora, Dingoo.

STORY:
Kyrodian Legends is a game series that tells of the edventures of a group of very different people. The first installment focuses on Midi Waffle, a squirrel with an uncanny talent for destructive magic, who joins the Cloud Chasers mercenary faction as a means to get by and search for clues to the whereabouts of his missing parents.

During his adventure, he fights the Colt Front, a faction composed entirely of penguins, and races to keep them from unearthing a weapon that would give them absolute power.

GAMEPLAY:
The gameplay revives the style of Zelda 2 and Gargoyles Quest in that the perspective switches from overhead to side-scrolling during combat. Rather than grinding for experience, however, players are rewarded for exploration, like in Metroid, and some areas are entirely platform-based.

Random encounters will serve as a means to gather funds and populate non-peaceful regions with monsters. Some small caves and dungeons will exist where these occur, as well as for combat-related quests to take place. If a puzzle having to do with the overhead view is active, random encounters will be disabled.

Side quests exist as contracts that can be taken from the Cloud Chasers HQ, and reward the player with money, items and lore. Some quests will only be unlocked when certain conditions are met, like a new area being found, or having completed a prerequisite contract. The main questine will not require these to be completed to move forward, and upon the game's completion, the player can continue to explore and play these quests.

Travelling is done via airship, and new destinations are unlocked per the story's requirement. Some areas offer local transport to places where an airship cannot land.

Stats are enhanced by equipping runestones. Aside from boosting stats, some may have other effects, such as night vision, faster movement speed, or lowering the chance of a random encounter. These tradeoffs encourage players to manage their resources. Runestones can only be equipped/unequipped in the overhead view, or in a "safe" area, not in combat.

New abilities are learned from enemies that use them or similar moves. For instance, defeating a penguin ninja, who uses a sliding attack, will teach Midi how to slide.

DEVELOPMENT:
So far, I only have graphics and story work done. I won't be able to program the game until I have XYG's runtime working enough to start testing, which shouldn't be too long; I just have to finish a few classes and then tie some functions to the Squirrel VM. Once that's done, I can begin coding.

If anyone wants to help, I'm looking for monster, vehicle and structure designers who are willing to work by commission. I'll handle spriting the assets myself; I'm just looking to buy some concepts.

Hi all, I used this forum last year to hire a sprite designer and was blown away by the creativity & quality of the work you guys do!

Now I'm developing a new game and would like to hire a sprite designer to create all the graphics for the game: characters, enemies, pickups, UI & environment tiles.

Here is some background about the game: (I will give more details & a brief to the hired designer)
I look forward to hearing and hopefully working with you soon!

Kind regards,
Mitchell

I felt like giving this a shot yesterday, since I want to get into spriting eventually anyway. I probably won't update very often for now, but hopefully I should start getting more serious about it once I manage to free up some time.

So here's my first ever custom sprite:

.png  pugspr.png (Size: 505 bytes / Downloads: 69)

Crit is welcome of course, but since I'm not doing any particular style that might be difficult. Basically I'm just going for simplicity at the moment, I don't want to go into any expert techniques. But yeah, I'll try and apply any improvements you can suggest.

Oh and if anyone could suggest a better background colour that would be cool too, I'm having trouble picking one that fits well.

Jason's Quest

Hello everyone, I'm trying to make a game called ''Jason's Quest'', and I'd like to make it like an rpg, platformer, beat em' up,etc; I mean, sort of everything. What I'm asking you is:
-Would you help me to make a great story?
-Or teach me to edit 8-bit sprites?
-Or tell me where I can find some megaman sprites of MM8BDM (it has the sprites of the characters in 8 diferent positions (looking forward, backward, to the left, to the right, etc.))

Thank you for your attention.

PD:This is something I've started to make:

Posting the old sheet just for a point of comparison for anyone interested.

As for the update itself:

Made the hands look like actual hands, but I'm still unsure on how to explain the connection between the head and body, not to mention what to do with the body itself. Static cling maybe?

As for why it's the only thing I fixed right now, it's because I want to get the body right before trying to animate anything.

Q: But you've had months to work on this. Shouldn't you have way more material to work with/show us?
A: Personal reasons. Because of personal reasons.

Anyway, C+C would be nice. Any and all will be received.

Joining as an assist character is Crapy from Crapy's Crates!
He would run in and step on a button. Once the button is pressed, a crate falls from the sky and lands on top of the opponent. Crapy then pushes the crate off. If he's attacked, he pops and the crate continues to magically move away. (Maybe I'll give it wheels or something.)

Considering that I've seen some other users do it, I was thinking of getting one for myself. Also, in addition to that, I noticed that some people have these ask (insert character here) blogs. You reckon I should make myself one of those kinds of blogs, too, or is that a stupid idea and I should just stick with a normal one?

Skullgirls Voices

I don't know what this place's policy is on submitting things you didn't rip yourself, but speaking personally, I don't see much point in ripping something twice, so here we go.

During my Internet conquests, I had something of a lucky find: the entirety of the voice clips and SFX from Skullgirls, ripped in HD by one AlbirdVampPrince. Both of these contain a readme which gives him credit for the rips, so that won't be an issue.

Core 8 Characters + Announcer
Squigly

Each of the characters have one giant audio file of all of their lines strung together. They'd probably be easier to use if they were broken up into each individual line, but that's just me.

Unfortunately, I can't provide you with the game icon, as the system for that seems to have changed and the icon maker has sadly vanished, but it should be easy enough to recolor the one already present over in Spriter's Resource.

The VG Resource Icon Renovation

It's announcement time!

As pretty much all of you know, we're currently working on a project to replace all of our old style icons with new ones across all of our sites. This is a massive undertaking given that, at the time of this writing, there are a total of 69,415 items with icons that need to be replaced. So far, 21,572 of those icons have been made, many of which were with your help (thanks!) which puts us at 31.08% of our goal. This is where you come in.

While we certainly appreciate the help we've gotten so far, there is still a ton of work to do. To that end, we figured we'd make things a bit more interesting and give you a little motivation to donate your time. So, we're turning this into a contest! Here are the details:

The contest will run until all icons have been completed and is open to anyone who can show us that they're up to the challenge. This means submitting a couple of samples in this thread using the format below. Those who pass this test will be invited via PM and granted access to the systems required to participate. There is no entry deadline (short of the end of the contest) but the sooner people get involved, the faster we can be up and running.

Code:
[tsricon img="http://www.spriters-resource.com/resources/new_icons/58/60651.png" url="http://www.spriters-resource.com/ds/jeweladventures/sheet/60651/"]Mage[/tsricon]

The above code will produce the following:

Mage
Mage

So, now that you know how to enter, let's talk about why you should want to (besides helping out the site, of course)! I said that it's a contest so of course there will be prizes. First, everyone who participates will be awarded a participation badge ([Image: icon.png]). The top three participants will be awarded special badges for 3rd ([Image: icon-third.png]), 2nd ([Image: icon-second.png]) and 1st ([Image: icon-first.png]) place. These awards will be permanently attached to your account as a thank you for your efforts! Also, as a bit of a bonus, you'll get a first-hand look at the new version of all of our sites that we've been working on for the last couple of months since you'll be using that interface to submit your icons!

But wait, there's more! If you call within the next 10 minutes... The first place badge also comes with a real-world prize - a (yet undetermined) newly released video game that comes out towards the end of the competition! More details will follow as the we near completion of the project.

So, with all of that out of the away, let's get to the specifics. New icons no longer require any of the border or text, just the main image in the center, as shown below. This image needs to be exactly 148x125, saved as a PNG (we will allow animated GIF icons in the future but for simplicity's sake, we're limiting submissions to PNGs for now - get in touch with me if you'd like to make an animated icon and we'll work something out), and on a transparent background (unless the image takes up the entire icon, of course). Additionally, sprites should not be enlarged beyond 2x their original size. 2x is fine (and often necessary to fill these larger icons) but anything more than that distorts the image too much.

Here is the part you'd be submitting for the above sample icon:

Like I said above, entrance into this contest is only allowed with your successful submission of sample work. The templates for posting the icons for all three sites (there are no "sound" icons so a tSoR template isn't necessary) are provided below:

Sprites:
Code:
[tsricon img="ICON_URL" url="SHEET_URL"]SHEET_NAME[/tsricon]

Models:
Code:
[tmricon img="ICON_URL" url="MODEL_URL"]MODEL_NAME[/tmricon]

Textures:
Code:
[ttricon img="ICON_URL" url="TEXTURE_URL"]TEXTURE_NAME[/ttricon]

We haven't created the BB code for the large preview icons on tMR yet but when created, you'll be able to post them as follows:
Code:
[tmrbig img="ICON_URL" url="SHEET_URL"]MODEL_NAME[/tmrbig]

And for reference, the image requirements for tMR large icons is as follows:
750x650, PNG (see above for animated GIF exceptions), transparent background (again, see above for exceptions).

And of course, just to encourage some friendly competition, we're making the current status of the project visible to everyone at the following address:

http://www.vg-resource.com/icon-stats.php

You can use this to track your own progress as well as that of your competitors (or just to see how things are going, if you're interested). And don't worry, Dazz has a major head start because he was submitting icons to test the system but he isn't actually a part of the contest. That being said, there will be a bonus badge (which hasn't been created yet) awarded to anyone who manages to beat him by project end.

So, on that note, let the contest begin and thank you all in advance for your continued assistance in getting everything up and running!
