Ripping/altering Textures for Barbie Genie PS VERSION

This game is quite rare and very poorly documented anywhere it seems, yall may find the game boy version of this game on google first. until recently when i bought it all myself and put it on YT & my friend/i speedran it, etc. I want to mess around with the game files because it seems simple and easy to alter if i can access and edit files in a format that is usable..

i have zipped up a few of the different file types, im unsure what is textures and what isnt. i mostly want to find textures and be able to edit those/insert them back edited to change how levels look. i have tried some existing game extractors but i have yet to find one that works so i am not sure where to go with this.

I really want Yujiro Hanma (best character from manga/anime Grapper Baki) model file and animations from the ps2 games Grappler Baki: Baki Saikyō Retsuden (aka Fighting Fury) or Garouden Breakblow: Fist or Twist. Want to use it to recreate him in Smash Bros Brawl. Most definitely will pay $ for this but I'm hella broke right now so I'm posting this here instead of commissions.

Hi, I'm trying to get the models / textures of Saiki Kusuo in Sainan - Shijou Saidai in Sainan (3DS). Get extract the .pac files with the help of a script I found forum zenhax. The dumped files were .cmdl files that should be the models files and .ctex files that should be the texture files.
I've been browsing forums about .cmdl files and found some applications and scripts 3dmax, but I got no success.

jTEX Headerless Compression Issue - Tales of the World 3DS

I found most if not all of the UI files, there were more jtex files hiding in the folder. 
Now the issue is that a bunch of them are all cut up in to slices, now some of them have parts of them cut and portioned around the tile because of spacing, but im talking full on blocks slid over making the images nearly impossible to translate. Is it because of the JTEX.jar converter? or is it because it's a different compression in the files? 

I have tried to use Kuriimu to edit the .jTEX files but it unfortunately gives me an error about the "Headerless jTEX file is compressed" along with using the JTEXTOOL/JTEX.jar that was made for this game by a user but it just exports the files and i would liek to get them back into jTEX format. 

I would like to be able to find the UI files and edit those then import them back into the game even some light UI text translations like the menu's/arte names/item names/etc..

My second issue is that the Banner doesn't display correctly, i have searched and been told that it's an issue with the region of the 3DS the game was installed onto. Since I have a US region 3DS the logo on the banner won't show up correctly.
The 3D mesh is in the banner.cgfx file that resides in the decrypted banner folder.
The logo however is located in the banner9.bcmdl, which i have replaced with the English version of the logo I made.
I haven't the foggiest clue how to fix/edit the banner files to make it appear in the region my 3DS is in, if anyone can help me out with that i would appreciate it.

I tried to follow some steps I found on here and also on reddit but once i had the files out there was nothing i could do with the files i had since the game hasn't been released outside of Japan so there's no reference for how it should work.


Now some of these i have figured out through the use of Ohana3DS but the rest are a mystery to me.
If anyone can give me information on how to edit/view these files so i can get to where the text is.

Pulstar and Blazing Star (Neo Geo)

I want to take a closer look at the sprites for the ships in Pulstar and Blazing Star.  Not just the player but all the basic enemy ships.
This game had an interesting art style that looks like 3D models (because that's how they made them) but still fairly close to traditional "drawn" pixel art.  I really want to take a closer look at the sprites so I can try to understand what it is doing to look the way it does.

So the reason that i want the model is because im going to recreate the animation of "i need a hero" in a software called MMD (MikuMikuDance) and that model is almost accurate to the movie so the shrek forever after game is available for Pc,ps3,Wii,NintendoDS but she only appears on the Pc,Wii and ps3 version so can please somebody rip her?!

Cthulhu Returns Cultist Robes

A while back there was a small, incomplete RPG Maker game called Cthulhu Returns. I can't find really any trace of it anymore, the screenshots of it aren't even online to my knowledge. At any rate, back when there were screenshots from it, I took one featuring cultists in the game. Unfortunately, they were holding weapons, so I had to erase the weapon part and fill in the blanks with my own approximate of what should've been there. At anyrate, these are not the original sprites, but whatever I could salvage and patch up.

I'm trying to get the sprites from Nexus: The Kingdom of the Winds and I'm not quite sure how to go about it. I think they are in the .dat files but I don't know how to access them.

hi, im back with a little project I did

the story behind this is that on time a play a flash game called super mario crossover where you could play characters from other franchise in super mario bros and so, I played samus and since it give the option to change the visual, I chose super mario bros all star style. with I take the nes samus skin, another thing I could do, since it fit with the style better than the super metroid. but I was wishing for a better fitting skin for the style so came this idea to my head ( still doesn't mean I can use the skin for the game dough)

so like I said , I edit the nes samus sprite , using the varia suit upgrade palette from zero mission, I give her iconic varia suit  and change a little bit the sprite , so its not a simple recolor. ps: I like how the running animations turn out. (ok the arm is a little weird, but the animation was still weird in 8-bit)

what I add in the future is edits to make edit for upgrades ( no grappes beam), animation for missile and shooting in general. so feedback is appreciate !

Learning to sprite with JewyB: Lesson 1

Okay, so, i've been away for a while, but upon coming back i've had an idea, so, welcome to JewyB's sprite school!

I'm going to be going back through the basics, with everyone, starting with simple things such as perspective and linework, then moving upto colour choices, shading, texturing, readability, etc.

I am not the best spriter here by a long stretch, but i feel that i have enough understanding of artistic methods to do things that will benefit everyone, and its all going to start with these ten eleven boxes:

So, for anyone who feels like going back and taking a stab at the basics, get ready for....

LESSON 1: LINEWORK

Okay, so, these eleven boxes are yours, and the perspective line is there for a reason, but probably not the one you think. 

I want you to take these ten boxes into MSPaint, Gimp, Photoshop, whatever you use, and i want you to add depth. I want you to use the perspective line and make these squares into cuboids, however, i dont want you to use the line tool!

You have two vanishing points at either side, you can choose which one you work towards, but here is a rough example:

As you can see, its slightly off, but thats okay, we're not focusing on a harsh perspective with this lesson, just making the boxes, 3D. I do, however, want you to have much tidier lines, mine were created quickly, using the pencil tool in MSPaint, i want you to do similar, but then tidy up your lines in order to create a nice edge.

You can choose the depth and direction, also, dont be afriad, draw THROUGH the box, we aren't worried about the finished result yet, just about the end result of the lines.

So, the rules are simple:

1. Don't use the line tool.
2. Don't draw back to the perspective, eyeball it(This will come in handy later).
3. Make sure your lines are clean, this is all about tidy lines.


I will comment on everyones results afterwords, and give tips and advice i think might be helpful. They will come in a seperate topic along with lesson 2.

And remember, cheating here only cheats yourself. The goal is not to be perfect, the goal is to practice and improve. If you use the line tool and pre-plan, it will come out looking nice but you wont learn anything.

Hi! I don't know if this is the right place to request or ask a question, but hopefully it is.

I was hoping if anyone knows any places or has already ripped Monster Hunter sounds, specifically from the games on 3ds such as Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Monster Hunter XX because I desperately would like some sounds for a project I'm working on like the player sounds, potion drinking sounds, ect..

I have searched multiple times on google with no luck, this site is the only place I found with a rip for Valfalk boss from MHXX on the sound resource, but's that's the only sound from the game and it doesn't seem there will be any new sounds added.

Which is why I ask here.. I really hope someone knows some place which has MH rips or has done it as a personal project and is willing to share! Thank you for your time!

Sonic custom model - would like feedback

So in my opinion, my original model was utter crap and it was pretty unanimous that I should update it.

Finally getting around to it over a year later, here's work in progress on a new model I started a few weeks ago. My focus on modeling this time around was making everything as quad-friendly as I could. Head, body and shoes were modeled from scratch, and socks and gloves were just moved from the generations model. Despite the fact that the gloves and socks were converted to 100% quads, they'll probably still be replaced by my own modeling in the end. Materials on the shoes, gloves and eyes are also custom; body and skin is untextured still.

So for now, I'm looking mainly for feedback on the modeling aspect, but anything else can be said. Be as nice or brutal as you want, but any feedback or suggestions that'd help in the end will be most appreciated. 

Some questions if you don't know what to look for:
In general, does it look weird, and do you have any idea what exactly seems weird? 
Is his face too short, long, narrow, wide, etc? 
Would you prefer a side instead of a center mouth? 
Are the shoes a good size? 
Do you like or hate the seems on the gloves and socks?
Are his arms and legs too short/long? 
Are the colors a good choice?
