Animations from Pokemon X/Y ORAS?

Been meaning to ask this for a while, whenever my motivation peaks, Would anyone happen to know whether pulling animations from pokemon in X/Y or ORAS is a thing yet?

I remember searching a while back and came up with one for Riolu, I'm trying to put together a 3D scene of Ash's home from the Anime.
I'd like to add in a handful of pokemon from the kanto region but it's a lot of work rigging/animating them, so i'm hoping to save some time and grief by asking for help on getting the anims.

Hi. I'm not not exactly new because I've been lurking around this website for quite a while. I'll keep it short; thanks to this site, specifically the sounds resource, I'm attempt to create an entire video series using the voice files I've found on this site, along with voices I've extracted myself. While it's not complete yet, I do hope to be able to share it with you all at some point, as well as upload the voices I've extracted as my way of contributing. So hello, and thank you for providing this service.

BFRES texture extractor problem

Hey all, I've been working towards ripping from Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. Problem is, the texture extracting method so common, seems to be missing some of the vital textures for the model in question. I can't figure out why it's doing this.

Pretty self-explainatory, just tell whatever you can remember. Tongue

(Try not to write full-page stories, but short, simple and to-the-point recounts of old memories, thanks!)

For me, I didn't really grow up with games the same way other kids did. I never had a PSX with Final Fantasy 7 or a Nintendo 64 with Ocarina of Time. I was pretty much occupied by just a NES with a bunch of shovelware (along with some classics like Mario, Donkey Kong and Zelda). Eventually, my older brother and I did aquire a GCN and usually played Luigi's Mansion, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Wind Waker, and Super Smash Bros. Melee. I did also have a Game Boy Color (the purple transparent version) and have fond memories with the Game Boy Camera and Super Mario Bros. DX. Then my Sonic obsession started in about 2002 when I started playing S3K Collection for PC.

I've always been a retro gamer since then. Besides, thanks to being a retro gamer, I dodged modern travesties such as Sonic 06! Big Grin

[How to] Rip from Battlefield Heroes (and other BF games)

If you don't understand the significance of what I'm about to say, here is the thing:
Previously, the only way to convert models from Battlefield Heroes, or other BF games using the same format was to download a 10 year old version of Max (Max 9 to be exact) to use a set of Max tools which wasn't 100% reliable, and with that it was both risky and unethical to do such a thing if you didn't happen to be one of the few people on earth that owns it.
With what I'm about to say it works with any 3d modelling program, and not just Max, but anything that supports the .obj format, which is great for those non-max users.
To top off what I'm going to say, Battlefield Heroes is a dead game, meaning there is no way to rip the files with live programs like Ninja Ripper or Ripper DX.

With that being said, let's get started!


1) The hardest step of them all, surely. PM me for the files for this dead F2P game since it is no longer downloadable. (I'd publicly link it, but I don't really want EA to come after wherever I'm hosting the files since they no longer are publicly available.)

2) Download the latest version of BFMeshView and then use this modified version of the .exe so the correct UVs export (special thanks to the program's creator for assisting me with this!) - this was a big issue beforehand, as it'd be just one big hour to fix a mess for each individual model and it wouldn't even be true to the original UV.
Note: In regards to .bundlemesh, only the last model/geometry gets exported, which is bad for vehicles and who knows what else. Do not fret though, a fix is currently in the works to export all the models in a .bundlemesh!
If you want to know what change was made to the code to make the UV export correctly, here it is:

3) Find and open your model, select the LOD you want (LOD 1 is the best!), and export the model as an .obj by hitting the highlighted export button as shown
If you want to set up your texture path so the materials display in the viewer, go to Tools -> Preferences and press Add under Mod/Texture paths, if the materials appear black in the viewport, disable the GLSL shaders which is under the View drop down.

4) Import the model into your favourite modelling program, set up the texture paths, vertically flip the UVs, and viola! (P.S. I didn't flip the UV in the screenshot, lel)
Once in a while the coordinate/location of the UV may be off, to fix it just drag it around and use the built-in UV viewer on BFMeshView for reference as to where it should be.

I would just keep posting in the stickied drawings thread, but some of my stuff isn't really drawing. So here we are. I'll just post all my art here from now on, regardless of what it is (unless it's sprites of course, but I am horrible at custom spriting)

Hey guys. Looks like i dissapeared again but i was acually ill and in the hospital.

I was getting some stomach aches a few weeks back and didnt think much of it. I would take some pepto and try and eat like normal only for it to get worse and worse. Eventually it got to the point where my stomach pain was severe if I ate anything. All i wanted to do was throw up and not eat anything. My thirst went through the roof and i was peeing a lot, i also began to lose a lot of weight and get weaker and weaker. All of this was happening while we were planning to go to Louisville, KY to visit family with my mom. My stomach pain eased for a bit and i told my mom i was fine so we went ahead and booked flights around the 9th to leave on the 13th.

So as it came time to leave i was still getting weaker and more ill. I decided i would make the flight and then go to the doctors. The 13th came by and we went to the airport. By the time we went on the first flight to atlanta, i had the severe stomach pains again. After we landed we had to go on the next flight to louisville. I tried to force feed myself because i knew that i needed food and i havent eaten since the night before and it was like, 11Cute0 am or something... i dont even remember the time. I got some yogurt and peanuts to eat but it just made everything 10x worse. Shortly after the plane took off, my heart started to ache horribly and beat insanely hard. Luckily there were 2 ER doctors on board the flight and took care of me. I dont remember much afterwards except that i was rushed to the ER immediately after landing. I was in the hospital since last saturday.

The doctor told me that i had diabetes type 1 for a while and that was what was torturing me the whole time and that my body went into ketoacidosis (however you spell it) and i was basically peeing out all the sugar in my blood and my electrolytes where out of whack along with me peeing out potassium from my blood. They got me all better eventually but the ride sucked. I just got out on the 19th. So yeah... long bumpy ride, but im here baby.

It was horrible though. I had tons of nightmares, woke up with a dry ass mouth and a horrible mettalic taste in it. Couldnt sleep. The thirst. Ugh. But hey, one thing led to another and looks like im moving here to louisville to live with my aunt and uncle. Its very convinient, my uncle has his own business and said he can lend me cash every so often. There is a college literally right in front of his house, thats next to a YMCA AND a library. Not to mention that im right in the middle of several cities that host regional Smash 4 tournaments (which im real into btw). So i guess when one door closes another opens? Hehe.

PCSX2 0.9.8 snap obj not showing up in Noesis or MilkShape

When i use snap to get an obj file, i don't see it in Noesis and if i try to import in Milkshape it says it has too many verticles

Does anybody know a way of unpacking a sprite sheet that's been packed together with TexturePacker, given a corresponding XML file? I am able to write my own program for doing that (the format is very straightforward) but I figured that if something already exists for it then I won't waste time reinventing the wheel.

If you are not a developer: There's not much to see yet except pure Python code! I'll write the parts to make the loaded stuff visible next, maybe with the help of some geniuses here, stay tuned!

If you are a developer:
I started an add-on to directly import BFRES files into Blender yesterday, open source of course, on Github.
With the last commit today, it completely loads the FMDL sections into well defined structures (it is prepared for FTEX and embedded files already by loading the headers and data).
The part to actually place that data into Blender objects and meshes to make them visible is not yet done but of course the next logical step!

Of course I could've just jumped from offset to offset to fetch the parts I need for displaying model data, like RTB's (really cool, no flame intended!) MaxScript does; but I want the Blender add-on to...
  • prefer correctness over speed (still fast, loading track file in 3-4 seconds... Yaz0 decompression still a little slow with 40 seconds for a track... will be optimized),
  • be more flexible to extend,
  • be less error-prone and easier to fix,
  • decompress Yaz0 on the fly in the future, done!
  • directly extract and convert FTEX textures too if possible,
  • become (and now I'm looking really far into the future) part of the core of a complete Mario Kart 8 track importer add-on.
It is less a port of my C# library I once wrote for loading BFRES, more a complete rewrite of it to make it easier to export BFRES neversomewhen, the offset bigotry being the biggest problem in a managed language like Python (e.g., I put the headers, which are kept separate in BFRES files in their own structs, rather than that weird Internals approach I used in C#).

Make sure to check bfres_file.py, it contains a huge comment visualizing the BFRES format, something the MK8 wiki doesn't deliver so well.

I really need the help of some other BFRES pros here at some point. Especially looking at RTB to help me out with the additional vertex buffer attribute formats he discovered and which I didn't find documented anywhere, as they're pretty common (I'm not a MaxScript expert so extracting that information out of that script is kinda tedious and error-prone).

Notes:
- Collada format. Rigged and animated.
- Tested with Microsoft 3D Viewer, Assimp Viewer, and Blender.
- Hair and cloth will appear rigid in the animations as they are animated dynamically through the game's physics engine.
- Due to a bug in the converter that was fixed partway through conversion, some NPC model bones may have slightly incorrect scaling.

Also, apparently I can't post more than 100 images per post, but making a second post will automatically merge it with the first one making it impossible to edit the merged post without removing the images and then re-adding them. Anyone know of a way around this?
