Do You Believe In "Untouchable Classics?"

As the title plainly states.  What do I mean by this?  Well, this question has three embedded parts to it:

1.  Does there exist a piece of media that you believe could never be polished further?  And if so, why is this?
2.  Does there exist a piece of media that you believe could never be rivaled or surpassed in quality?  And if so, why is this?
3.  Does there exist a piece of media that you believe, if remade, could never capture the essence of the original?  And if so, why is this?

Hey new guy here. I was recommended to come here after searching for .WAV sound files for for particular games. I make a lot of SFM films most are which are scrapped cause ethir I didn't like it or It just turned out to be bad. But yea, I very much appreciate the guys ripping sounds from games, and it's not easy. I tried doing it for dead space but I just can't do it. I used mutplie 3rd party softwares which were hard to obtain but I still couldn't manage.

Anyways cheers! Glad to be here!  Smile

Hey guys,

I want to record in-game chat audio on my PS4 and I've been told that I need an Elgato capture card. Is there a store where I can buy an Elgato capture card? If so, what's the price? Also, is there any other alternatives for recording in-game audio besides capture cards?

Thanks Wink

What do you guys think? Is it submittable?
It is for this game here:
http://www.spriters-resource.com/game_bo...tricarena/
(I am kinda annoyed why no one ripped all the sprites from that games, the sprites are very pretty and I think the shows are also very well known, no real reason why no one ripped these)(Well there are some more at Sprite Database, but still, Rops and Apolo, Reycom and Hosowaka, Kollulu and some girl, werent ripped)

anyone know how to make the data show up in the obb folder on my phone? I cannot figure out how to do this. the game has to be installed on my phone, and I have to play it some in order for the game to download the data, like the 3d models, so I need to get those 3d models from the game that is installed on my phone.

Is anyone super old still here?

I'm talking ooooold. I'm pretty old now.

This site's board used to be called Pixeltendo! I posted a bunch of mediocre sprite comics for the forum and did a couple of sprite sheets for TSR that I think have since been replaced by new work.

It's weird how affectionate I still am for the spriting community despite how disconnected I've been to it for like half a decade.

I still check in from time to time however.

Forgot this account existed (Last visited: 04-30-2012, 04:11 PM), but every time I look up the name 'treek' I find my old accounts and like to see what's new.

What's new guys?

Aladdin Prototype Stuff

Hey, folks. Apparently this ROM recently made its way to the web, so I figured I'd give it a go. Here's what we have so far:

Genie as cheerleader sprites. Probably removed for being too "risque."

Iago is the same, but with an unused "perched" sprite.

A completely different exploding skeleton is in the prototype. The final one is way more fun.

The Prototype Ghost looks like something out of the SNES.

And this guy. A prisoner who swings a ball and chain. His palette is screwed up in the game, so if someone wants to try other ones, be my guest!

There are some alternate civilian sprites as well that I'm working on. The Snake Charmer is kind of a pain, though. His snake lunges and goes in front of a pot and I can't easily remove it. Maybe I'll find someone who can view the tiles. Are there any I'm overlooking?

Ys ripping project

Decided I might as well make an exclusive topic just for this, since it makes for better organization. My plan is to rip from most recent titles or as much as possible. Any help on earlier titles would be appreciated as well.

I am using a tool named Falcom data Archive Conversion Tool (http://www.pokanchan.jp/dokuwiki/softwar...nvrt/start), which can extract the graphics of any PC Falcom game, also working with PSP isos.

Here's my current progress:

PC

* Ys Origin: Fully ripped and organized. Needs icons.
* Ys VI The Ark of Napishtim: Fully ripped. Needs organizing.
* Ys The Oath in Felghana: Fully ripped. Needs organizing.
* Ys I & II Chronicles: Couldn't rip with the tool. For some reason it returns the sprites with a messed up palette.

PSP

* Ys SEVEN: Complete.
* Ys The Oath in Felhana: Complete.
* Ys vs Sora no Kiseki: Complete.

Vita

* Ys Memories of Celceta: Couldn't rip with the tool. The graphics are all stored on .itp files much like the other games, but it seems it uses a different compression.

The Completionist in You

So, I am not much of a "completionist", as the term has come to be known. When it comes to games, outside the main storyline, I usually only do enough until I reach a point where I'm either bored or too frustrated to bother continuing.

However, there are a few exceptional games out there that I will always 100% complete every time I play them. For me, this usually means that I find the games so enjoyable that I always want to get as much as I can out of them, and that I can easily get full completion without having to consult the internet a lot. Two perfect examples that come to mind, for me at least, are Majora's Mask and Okami.

So anyways, the point of this thread is; I am curious about what games bring out the completionist in you. What games do you find yourself doing all the extras to 100% every time you play it?* And what kind of things does the game do that draws you into completing it?

*(Obviously you should only count games that have extra things to do outside the main storyline).

Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls

All right, yeah...I know this is a Vita game, but there's been some method to extract from it apparently. Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls, is a Vita game that has a specific model I need. Nagito Komaeda, or, as he's known in this game, 'The Servant'. I really need this model if at all possible...

Porno-graphic

CROSS-POST FROM RHDN:

Quote:The folks at Baddesthacks.net and I are proud to announce Porno-Graphic, a new tile editor currently in development by BHDN true-believers manwithcatears, el kadong, and myself. What's special about Porno-Graphic is how it processes tile data through custom XML "profiles". Unlike currently existing tile editors which limit you to a sampling of hard-coded "codecs" for popular systems, Porno-Graphic profiles give you full control over the tile format for the ROM you are hacking, from tile dimensions to bitplanes, allowing you to edit games that render their tiles in unconventional ways never before supported by popular tile editors.

The Porno-Graphic profile format is powerful but straightforward. Simple tile formats are easy to lay out, complex ones are also doable, and the crazy ones are finally possible.

Profiles can also contain definitions for more than one tile format. Some profiles, particularly the ones for various arcade systems, contain "regions" that define parameters for individual games for that hardware and allow you to define tile data that is composited from multiple ROMs at the same time. This effectively opens the floodgates to a new age of arcade ROM hacks. As an example, this is what it looks like to load tiles for a CPS1 game. The standard CPS1 sprite tile format is selected. Note that the user can control the starting offset for a section of tile data to load, as well as the byte length.

(Rotation tool was added for editing arcade games designed for a vertical monitor mount.)

And here is a screenshot from the same game, but with the non-standard 32x32 background tile size selected at the Import window.

Rather than redoing all this work every time you want to open up your ROM for editing, Porno-Graphic has a project file system that contains any sets of tile you have imported, as well as tile arrangements (more on this at a later date) and palettes. You will be able to manually create a palette, import a palette from popular editing software formats (GIMP, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, etc.), import a palette from a known format in a ROM, or from a dump of Video RAM in MAME's debugger. At the moment, rudimentary pixel editing is planned, but the long-term goal is to include a comprehensive export/import system so that the bulk of graphics editing can be done on third party editors without any of the usual hiccups involved with other editors that are out there.

Right now a lot is left to be implemented, but the focus right now is to lay the right foundation for the broader scope of this project. We want Porno-Graphic to be the most powerful tile editor ever created and we will stop at nothing to achieve this.

Oh yeah, it also supports Neo-Geo.
Looks very interesting and it's on GitHub. I can't compile a binary so I can't verify if it runs on Mono, but I think this has insane potential.
What do you think?

KH1 Ripping

Hello,

So I came across a few threads at kh-vid where they were trying to import the 1.5 textures (and more?) into the PS2 Final Mix version of the game. They managed to rip and change a lot of things without ever really mentioning how they managed it. Now I did put two and two together for some of the things they did and successfully managed to open up several mdls files (and make color adjusts etc) with mdlsTextureExtract/Edit however there are many file types I cannot open, such as:
  • .bin*
  • .iso*
  • .img*
  • .ard
  • .evm
  • .irx
  • .wdt
  • .dat
  • .x
  • .ev
  • .idx
  • .dpx
  • .knj (though I have a feeling I know what that is. Tongue )
  • .mset
  • .dbt
  • .se
*I remember being able to 7zip these things open to see folders and what not

So....basically .wpn (weapons for those who don't know) and .mdls (models for those who don't know) are the only files I can get to open or edit in any fashion. I have tried ten different ISO softwares to open the img, iso and bin files but every single software claims it can't find the file or isn't really an .img/.iso/.bin. I have read in my days searching that some files will be "empty" or rather useless, but beyond that I am stumped. I have nearly burnt my eyes out of my skull googling this.  Very Sad

If anyone one could point me in the right direction to start this off, I would appreciate it,

Thank you for reading! Smile

Proven safe to download discussion thread

I Fira777 on YouTube have seen some videos which prove that some downloads are safe to click on, double click on, download, use etc.

Are there any completely legal and safe (such as from http://www.sounds-resource.com/) .mp3 music files
that I can use in games? If yes I highly recommend doing a YouTube video or videos proving such downloads are safe
and then posting such videos or video.

To do a http://www.youtube.com/ video proof that something is completely safe do the following 16

#1: Download a recorder such as Hypercam 2.0

#2: Install a recorder such as Hypercam 2.0

#3: If you have Hypercam 2.0 have the following statuses
Screen Area
Start X 0 Start Y 0
Width 1096 Height 1020
Leave Capture layered/transparent windows (May slow down performance)
unchecked others are okay to have marked next to if you wish

AVI File
Add sequential number to the file name
can be checked or unchecked your choice

Rate in Frames per Second, Record: 5 Playback: 5

Cursor/Full frame capture ratio 1 (1 to capture every frame)

Key frame every 100 frames

Video Compressor -- Auto Select - Strongly Recommended!

Frame compression quality 100 %

Limit screen capture to max. 24 bits per pixel (may be slower)
has the box to the left unchecked

rest you choose.

#4: Know that http://www.virustotal.com/
is completely safe and legal to visit and use
including scanning one or more files.

#5: Know that if you put a harmless .exe file
in a .zip folder such a harmless .exe file
will not be accused of being harmful especially if such
a harmless .exe file is an installer made by
Install Creator 2

#6: Open up something such as Notepad

#7: Type up every website you will visit
to go to every download you will download in the video
and then scan to prove safe.

#8: Open up recorder such as Hypercam 2.0

#9: Set up needed settings

#10: Go to Notepad that you have open that have stuff you typed on it

#11: Start recording.

#12: Download the one file or download the more than one file.

#13: Scan the downloaded file (you can skip and installer but scan whatever the installer does install) or scan the downloaded files or both.

#14: When finished stop recording.

#15: Upload the video footage somewhere such as http://www.youtube.com/upload

#16: Post the ^ video or the ^ videos or both here in this thread.
